solmusdesigns: Why bother? Most of these people do not understand, and those who do only want to blame the government. Regarding power issue, I was opportune to realize the problem when work took me to Kebbi State. The governor (Atiku Bagudu) consulted the populace and they said key among what they need is steady power supply. So he called the DisCo (Kaduna Electric) management and they said kebbi state can get 24hrs electricity. He then asked why only about 8 to 10 hours now and they said because they can't realize the amount equivalent to power received from transmission so they would not be able to pay back. That's why they demand about the average money they collect monthly. He then made a team monitor and work with them to calculate the outstanding monthly balance for 24-hr supply (which some claim almost 200 million monthly). With that, every month, he pays KAEDCO about 200 million to supplement what they collect from people and within that time (about a year), barring collapse of the national grid or critical failure at feeder stations, kebbi State had 24hrs constant power supply even during hot season. But with the termination of joint account by the NFIU he said he can no longer sustain it from state account. Local governments should chip in monthly but they haven't. Still, he gives some amount and Kebbi State still enjoys about 18 hrs of light every day. Unfortunately, that's all that he has done for the state. Don't be deceived by all that rice farming noise, he messed up the anchor borrowers loan scheme and everything is in shambles. 1 Like |

Blue3k: And what do you think will happen to our own Kainji dam if these guys build their own damn cutting the source of our own supply. There is a reason why the government supplies some of those countries. The idea is to stop them from building their own dam, so we can get enough water. |

[s] Stalwert:[/s] Lol stop crying loser. You want them to stop being leaches so why the wailing? Nigeria has tons of natural gas to exploit. Niger is already building a dam anyway. Nigeria will be fine either way. Through this project, Niger intends to increase its electricity supply by an additional 130 MW. The Kandadji hydroelectric dam is built on the Niger River, 150 km from Niamey, the country’s capital. 2 Likes

crash12345:If our goods are inferior as you said then why foolishly buying them or did we pull a trigger to your head to buy? You still crave for goods from Nigeria that the world knows you can't produce, we still sell to you and you're here talking trash. If you can get our goods cheaper elsewhere and more original, why coming to buy from Nigeria? A link to when and where you've settled your debt with Nigeria. Over 1000 Nigerian shops shut and how has that affected the economy of Nigeria? It is the economy of Ghana that is actually affected because of that if you don't know. Poor Ghana always begging Nigeria to open her land borders so that they can continue their smuggling, use our seaports and you won't. 24/7 electricity and you ain't the industrial power in the subregion, only dancing and watching TV, lazy things. If you dare me now, I'd post reports from companies complaining of the border closure in Ghana and you send us just one Nigerian company that had complained. 1 Like |

CSTR2: What is that u don't think so? Pls let's go back to d statement made by d gentleman to which I responded. "I believe population and landmass is part of our problems." What he wrote is d independent variable. D dependent variable is electricity. Now if u are to use this, d independent variable affecting d dependent variable as d reason y Nigeria is having electricity problems, then China, India, US and Russia that have larger population & land mass will b in darkness going by his theory. In ur comment, u are saying two different things at d same time. On d one hand u are saying this: "And we don't have a decent government to give us the necessary growth rate to make real impact on the population", at d same time u are saying this: "There is a serious disadvantage in over population". Once again, is it because China's population grew at a rate of 12-15% for 20years that d govt was able to "capture most of their population" or is it because d govt knows what it is doing? because u sound as though if d population growth rate of China were higher, then they wouldn't have been able to "capture most of their population". NB: what u mean by "capture" is alien to me. Not to sure what u mean by that |

Hi solmusdesigns: Egypt actually produces 14 000 MW of power meaning Nigeria will probably have to produce about 22 000MW for the amount of people currently connected and if everyone is connected we will need about 50 000MW of electricity at our current population |
