mcTrinity: ok, stilll a lil crude, as it simply groups batts into flooded, sealed etc...and doesnt state the corresponding voltage charge setpoints.. take quanta batts for example, its float is 13.5v, boost 13.8v, while Long Batt has float 13.8v, boost 14.6v, and they are both smf agm batts. so hope you now understand, the shortcomings of the luminous inverter good the owner 's primary charging source is solar, and not grid. left for me luminous isnt in my top 5 chinco makes when am considering a serious 2.5kva and above inverter...unless its for off grid installation 1 Like |

godspeed: I just checked and did the calculations. Highest has been 143ah on 8/12/19 and lowest 81ah on 12/12/19. Today is 86ah. Thanks for calling my attention to this. I need to look at the panels for dirt. Total harvest is 1025 in 10 days. But it seems my son did a reset on 7/12/19 or 8/12/19 cos 9/12/19 has no record, but I am not too sure. The readings were taken from the pwm CC display. House, I have a question. Does the cc record havest irrespective of load on it or load affects the reading. My thoughts is that harvest record should not be affected by load as the cc records what passed through it and not what use the yield is put to. If 100ah passes through it and 50ah load is being drawn on the go, battery will suffer it by getting only the 50ah balance. Am I correct? I ask because from the calculations I did, I noticed drops in yield these few days. But if load affects harvest, then I understand the drop. RCCG is having convention and TV is suffering it.

For those who followed my quest for DC fan, I finally got 18 inches 40watts boscon standing fan. Got it 21k each from Alaba via a friend. It is still being charged.

Hmm.....following the insightful commments i have read so far and phcn on strike issue. I need to know the status of my 12v solar system. Panels 2(140w)Poly+ 2(150w) mono=580w Upne-tech mppt 40ah cc. Harvest is recorded in (wh) 12v 200ah sinergy battery Pls house what harvest do i suppose to have today having reset it? Can i get a full charged battery in a day with 10% dod? |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by earthrealm(m): 5:24am On Dec 14, 2019 |
Deluxe8000: Same shit previously explained applies to you. However mixing poly and mono panels on same cc is a fatal flaw already. A very wrong design. You will not get optimum harvest from that combo 1 Like |

Topmost11: l use the exact pwm cc u have. from what I see, it records just PV Ah input only. I have 4 12v/150w panel in parallel. I use my system for 24hrs. I mean inverter for 13hrs for charging business and run off Dc loads through the night. my 2 100ah in parallel never drops below 50%dod. my harvest has not been impressive though. I get a least above 50ah on less sunny days and abt 150Ah on very sunny days. Ideally, that for me is too low. I would be adding at least two more panels asap. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Dishtech(m): 5:50am On Dec 14, 2019 |
solasola: Remember that you have 600watts panel already! Check the maximum your charge controller can handle or add another charge controller or increase the capacity of your charge controller. |

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by solasola(m): 6:10am On Dec 14, 2019 |
from my little personal experience, a 150w PV says it will give 18v and 8A charge. but in real situations, it doesnt. this are max values. the sun is not always max now.my 600w panel should give abt 32A max. but the highest I have seen is 22A but it has constant voltage value of about 16-18v which is OK. so my drift is if max current should be 32A, just work with 16amp on average or a little lower for your calculations. if you intend running an off-grid system, you will have to go high on panels while considering the rate of charge of battery C10/C5, and how much load your panels can take while also being able to reach full charge by sundown. Also note that a cc rated 40A should take 40A conveniently and slightly above, 40-45A. but I fear this chinko cc's sha o. 1 Like |

earthrealm: Luminous is not a chinko inverter. It's an Indian product. They are stronger than most chinko if not all. Their only shortcoming is the charging. That is where chinko beats them. |

Anyone using mpp solar inverters? I have been trying to set my battery cut off voltage above 24v but that has not been possible, the highest I could set was 23.9v and that is not the 50% DoD that I wanted. Any idea on how to go about this? |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by desiji: 12:23pm On Dec 14, 2019 |
ojeysky:i am using a third party software to realize that, but are you using watchpower you can set the cut of voltage from there |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by earthrealm(m): 12:51pm On Dec 14, 2019 |
zeestone99: Yeah true, Luminous is indian. Very poor charging. I wud take felicity, mustpower, icell etc b4 luminous for serious/>2.5kva inverter installtion |

Deluxe8000: Too bad. You are not totally free from blame either.. People will not come here to qaqc whatever their But will now run to this forum when their installation is giving them issues, meanwhile the installer is resting easy & smiling with their hand earned money in his pocket. earthrealm: Even with my moderate DIY experience I would be happy to engage the gurus here (including yourself) but at times proximity can also be a constraint. So not everyone wants to use inexperienced installers at times it's lack of an alternative (with budget consideration as well) 6 Likes |

earthrealm:Hmm.... The engr. in question was gotten from nairaland. He was the only one that posted his 12v solar system installations. I approached one of the names you mentioned but he was only interested in 24v solar system not even considering what i had that could be useful in the installation of the 24v solar system. The total harvest i got today from my system is 412wh. What do i expect to get and what can i do to make my 12v solar system works better? 5 Likes |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by earthrealm(m): 7:55pm On Dec 14, 2019 |
Deluxe8000: 412WH IS super poor in this sunny season, you should be getting upto 1600wh to 2500wh daily. 12v setups are usually low budget, and usually doesnt interest most installers...unless they are very close to you, this is mainly cos of low installation/logistics fees. were you the person complaining of shading of panels? whats the size of cables from panel to cc, then cc to battery?? then your cc is another are...whats the max instantenous harvest in WH, you have seen? mixing poly and mono isnt a death sentence, you can still get something useful from it. what is the Voc and Vmp of the mono and poly panels?? 4 Likes 1 Share |

Harvest today 1118-1025=95. Didn't pay much attention to these readings before. Just recorded daily logs, looked at it once or twice, without doing the analysis especially since it is serving me well. I thought dry season should bring better harvest. I will wait till month end and then change to mppt for one month too and see the difference.

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Topmost11(m): 9:30pm On Dec 14, 2019 |
godspeed: Your cc has a Max input it can take, anything above is not good. My cc: 40a pwm cc will take 500 watts for 12v set up and 1000 for 24v set up. The 60a is 780watts and 1560watts respectively. Check the specs of your cc, it is there. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Topmost11(m): 9:34pm On Dec 14, 2019 |
solasola: As you rightly said, we have similar set up. With 600watts panels, your cc should be 60a and not 40a. You can only add one more 150watts panel to it to max at 750watts. The 30watts left is of no use.
