ojesymsym: Na not a yard stick. I'm well on the table. My mentor made sure I could make 1.5m before I proposed to any lady. She says she no want make I dey call her for yeye issues say make I settle myself first before touching any ladies bum bum. This was a few years ago. So you see. We don't even need 1. 2mmobthly to be good but then we need it. No friends in the country if emergencies arises like medical expense, family needs... These are the greay areas why its pertinent to plan and make these projectionsnot like it's sacrosanct |

To live a very good life in this country, you need 500k+/m. That is life of comfort where you can eat whatever you want and whenever you want, fuel your gen when heat dey, fuel and maintain your car, live in a secure environment, pay bills with comfort etc. You can live some of this lifestyles with less pay but a couple of them must go and you still live fine. Truth is jobs that pay this amount are very few and requires years of hardwork and experience to reach this level. 1.2m may be high but its not too far away from what gives you that optimal comfort 3 Likes |

Adiwana: Seconded. I will never give my daughter to a man that doesn't have this figure as his monthly expense in today's naija. I swear down. And BTW, I place the same standard on myself. |

OgogoroFreak: I don't Know about spending such amount daily. I don't spend that much daily even on my good days so permission to exempt myself. But 1.2m per month isn't bad. Modern day naija is strange, there are too many dependents so much need for logistics, power, Internet, feeding, security and housing bills, religious bills, medical insurance, educational insurance for kids. Project expenses. For all these 1.2m per month isn't a bad projection Sir, to me personally. This is a standard I placed upon myself personally and work on even currently, and while I don't spend this much monthly, from next year, I've scaled above it s because I placed it as my working guide long before now. |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by TotoNaRubber: 6:45pm On Dec 15, 2019 |
It is an amount that corresponds to the Nigerian inflation system, ofcourse people can survive with N1000 per day but they are more exposed to certain avoidable health hazards in Nigeria, they can't afford to stay away from these hazards due to the state of the Nigerian inflation economy. One gospel truth about Nigeria compared to a country where things are organized is health insurance, in Nigeria someone with kidney transplant issue requires a Church to raise N12million or so to travel to India but in an organized society someone with kidney transplant issue is only required to present his health insurance document which he pays a premium of N5000 equivalent a month for the same N12 million naira sugery in Nigeria so you see, inflation inflation. Lack of health infrastructure, poor medical practioners. These things are still available in Nigeria but it takes us to the N40k per day. ojesymsym: 2 Likes |

I understand that part, I was commenting on the part you said Naija is cheaper to live only that it is disorganized, so I am saying Europe will naturally be more expensive since you are paying for it being already organised Nigsrdumb: 1 Like |

TotoNaRubber: I stand with you.. Spot on. Most times while we don't place our fingers on this expenses is because we wait till needs like this kidney transplant arises before we make plans around such needs. I like to settle with an analysis that 1.2m is good for a comfortable family life in the urban. But then a choice o... |

You want to start comparing cost of health care in Naija to cost of health in organized society. NAija healthcare is cheaper, it is the quality nthat is low. Also, for you to have a health insurance that covers kidney transplant you will be at a premium. Most insurance will not touch such situations from what I know TotoNaRubber: 3 Likes |

healthserve:I can very much afford a 40k daily expenses but I'm just wondering what exactly I would be spending on. I eat whatever I can think of eating. I don't lack internet, I always have light 24/7 as I support phcn with solar. Infact, I can't even think of what I'm lacking yet I don't spend upto that 40k daily and I'm seen as very rich. I'm not including paying my employees salaries, though. 5 Likes |

Yes, people don't realise these things until they arise, one bad sickness could wipe someone's worth in the Nigerian inflation economy. We keep praying it doesn't happen but unfortunately these things happen sometimes. Definitely N1.2m is a very good place to be even lower amount is good, we only live once. healthserve: |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by healthserve(m): 7:02pm On Dec 15, 2019 |
OgogoroFreak: That 40k perday sounds bogus to my ears. I'm struggling thinking of how to spend it figuratively here. But 1.2m per month isn't bad Now, let's revisit your daily spendings, the light you say you have with solar covers a partof this expense. After a while those batteries need to be replaced. Maintenance fees also reduces your spendings that you don't almost remember you're spending but not just daily.... Same goes for your service fees like gas, security, Internet. I like to guess you download videos to laff at buzzing trend videos. Now not just the spending but "our lifestyle" if we need to have insurance package for kids whether they have arrived or not and the entire family, car, house, medicals, you'd agree 1.2m isn't inadequate. As aack of this funds should their need arise can be dire Trust me, many people die in hospitals from lack of funding. The provision and safekeeping of funds for these needs before or rather if ever such need arises is inclusive In this spending projection not just outright spendings sir. |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by TotoNaRubber: 7:04pm On Dec 15, 2019 |
Yes Naija health care is cheaper BUT i will not present myself at the table for any Nigerian doctor to pierce my skin, I know someone who was administered expired drugs in a Nigerian hospital, he choked to death at the hospital, so many cases, people just die for nothing in Naija, the mortality rate in Nigeria is so high (55 years life expectancy in Nigeria and 83 years life expectancy in Japan). The budget for medical infrastructure is inflated on annual basis but yet nothing is put in place. The health insurance in Nigeria will not cover certain cases but in developed society with a premiun of N5000 or less a month, anyone who falls from the sky will be treated at no additional cost. ojesymsym: |

healthserve:we are here in Nigeria. This your insurance is almost completely out cos this is Nigeria. Now, my solar has been working for 5yrs now, I have never replaced the batteries or work on anything. It's actually far cheaper than burning diesel. I spend just 20k monthly on internet in my house. Honestly, anyway I try to look at it, 1.2m monthly expenses is still high. 1 Like |

OgogoroFreak: I quite agree 1.2 seems almost high but not just spending but on human life needs. Like for example a medical condition needs attention, the lack of savings before hand is what we always see skyrocket with crazy figures. Just to wash an eye ball can cost between 3-7million. In the case of eye problem. Kidney, let's not go there. If one has been making provisions for this expenses before hand, people won't witness crazy bills when need arises. This undocumented expenses and we not saving up for our futuristic needs almost makes it seem exhorbitant. For example a young boy I'm managing needs as an that costs. 1.2m. Only scan o. Lol. Not the comprehensive medical care cost. This is a prime example. You get my drift? Let's include dependents too Sir |

partnerbizn5: Earn in euros spend in euros , so my life is not necessarily more better than a Nigerian with a proportionally lower income. In fact you will have a better life in Nigeria on half of what I earn. My sister who earns much lower than me in naira has a property, building a second one. They have a driver, house help, security guard and stand by generator. She's living the life only a millionaire in Europe can dream off on a much lower salary than mine. 5 Likes |

2600 is quite high, at some point it could go down with no claims and experience, a lot of people pay 500 - 800 euro on insurance annually. Did you take third party insurance, where you live too is taken into acc. Most insurance don't cover all but there are additional insurance providers like Banks, it will cost a bit more and may not be worth it. You are right, Nigeria is really very disorganized, these insurance worked well in the 80s but now it is very hard to deal with. I see what you mean by Nigeria is cheaper, i would say on short term basis, things are really out of hand. You have to budget twice the amount for everything, there is no guarantee the labourer you employed will do the right job, you pay again for the same service, there is serious inflation and then the inflation culture. It's not what one should earn to be Considered rich. That's a flawed logic. It's what one should earn or desire to to stay afloat and live comfortably in modern urban regions in the country. This is the perspective o 1 Like |

40k a day is 1.2m a month. make we fear God. a 4 litre custard container soup with all brand of protein is 7k and cheaper. that can take some days. a bag of rice that last minimum of 3 months is 23k, tuber of yam is about 700, fueling my car is even what takes money as i stroll a lot. if you have 1.2m to spend in a month then you have no biz with power holding. i used 5k unit for over 8months and still using the 2k i loaded after that. my solar ba3 has been serving for 5 years now. dstv is 12k monthly and some times its 7k. data depends on need to track rates an other biz interest that will never exceed 3k in a month. 200k on drinks in a month. i am comfortable, dont come define my comfort for me, now how is that 1.2m. what else do you do with money? 10 Likes |
