You just made some people's heads swell.

Anyway let's give them the opportunity to enjoy the ecomium since they so much crave for it.

I travelled recently to my small village in Anambra and was shocked and surprised to see over 50 yoruba men having kparakpo meeting opposite my house on a good sunday.

If my village, as small as it is, can have over 50 yoruba men living with their families and doing business peacefully, you can imagine how many of them are in bigger villages or towns!

It is only the illiterate and untravelled ones especially in nairaland that talks nonsense that Igboland is uninhabitable.

You can even see some of the useless ones already commenting rubbish in the first page of this thread!!

Like my late father in law will always say, Landlord travel and see.. Most people need to get out of there little hamlets and explore other parts of Nigeria..

Very very true.

I would advise people especially corps members not re-deploy except for safety reasons.

It is a good year for exploration.

I hope all I read here is the truth because all the people I knew that went to live or work in the SE including some Asians had different stories, many of them actually had to scamper for safety. Perhaps, because you didn't attempt to start a business or own a landed property.

I first want to commend your writing. It's very rare nowadays to see a writeup so cleanly written. I understood the message you were trying to convey and I love the flow of your paragraphs.
I had to check the author twice to be sure it's coming from a Corp member. He writes very well!

As an ex-corper of Anambra state, I attest to this writeup, Anambra is really the light of the nation, my experience there can never be erased from my memory. And for the commenters saying the other side of them, well every state and tribe have their own negatives. Say no to e-tribalism, it makes me sad.

Liar! Yorubas don't bear Gidado; especially Ekiti people.

Maybe One of the Ebiras (Kogi) living and farming in Ado Ekiti suburb. They are very many in Ado Ekiti. But if he wanna claim Ekiti or Yoruba he's welcomed.
But he should be truthful enough to identify with his primary root.

I'm happy you enjoyed your service year. I schooled (boarding school) in Anambra state so I was able to relate to a lot of the things you said. I'm from Delta state. I didn't know about Okpa till I got there.

I wish you good luck in the next chapter of your life.
Like there's no Okpa in Delta State?

I've never been to any state in Nigeria where there's no Okpa.

I [s]did my NYSC at Onitsha - Oweri Expressway. Anambra girls are the most beautiful in the country. Fulani girls are very beautiful, Kanuri and Shua Arabs girls are very beautiful. Port Harcourt girls are very beautiful. Benue girls are very beautiful. Ondo and Ekiti girls are quite beautiful. But Anambra girls are the most beautiful. I almost stayed back at Anambra fter my NYSC because of Anambra Agnels, these girls are super beautiful.

However, Igbos generally love money too much. As at 2002 when I was doing NYSC, sachet water was 10 Naira per sachet while it was still 5Naira in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt. The market women also charged me excess for anything I was buying[/s].

Fifty Yoruba in an Igbo village! Doing what? Even our commercial drivers don't ply your routes. North and some SS States are where you will see Yoruba in droves.

You are right. I served in Imo state and I got to like the Igbos. Though I had a few issues with some of their boys because of girls, which could have been worst in other parts of the country, but the overall experience was surreal.

First and foremost, there is no family compound in Yorubaland called GIDADO, which is the surname the corper identified himself.

Tell him to re-identify.
You can't really tell for sure.I'm from Benue state but my surname inherited from my grandfather is from Delta state.I also know of a family here bearing Mukhtar which is usually associated with Muslim north

Why do Yorubas think that Igbos are disrespectful? Is it because Igbos don't lie face down to greet their elders? It is ridiculous.
Not only that. You people are generally disrespectful. There is difference between being fearless or courageous and being rude or disrespectful. I saw that firsthand. I served in eziowelle in their community secondary, those student are so rude, even to the principal.
But we corpers then were much there - like 12 or more than(almost half of us were Yoruba), we handle them with strict hands and we occasionally had some faceoffs and we do walk at least in threes when going out.
One thing that make them feared us more then was, a new batch corper(female) has a soldier boyfriend and about 3 of them accompanied her to owe. The bottom line is, you people are disrespectful to other tribes and even to yourselves. CHANGE

No Igbo man give a Bleep about what yorubas think about Igbos. Visit Asa road in Aba and you will see thousands of yoruba men doing tailoring job and their women hawking agbo and selling kola nut

I served in Anambra too, Nnewi precisely (2011/2012). One thing I can attest to is that they are highly industrious people. Most people who are tribal or religious bigots are those who don't travel at all. Change environment, see for yourself and become a better person instead of relying on hear says.
