It's not a conditional statement. They don't HAVE to do it to get good service from us. It just makes it easier to serve them if they do. If we go the route you suggest we should turn them away.

Some of you can't understand the earnings some drivers claim. Maybe you should ask how they deal with these issues. I guarantee you their attitude is out of the norm and they are not ready to kick riders out of their car at the slightest assumption of a slight. Case in point someone would have cancelled on me when I called them Oga on the phone because they assume I'm belittling them.

A lot of these drivers will say that Nigeria riders are rude. And it is because of Nigeria culture environment, which can be true at times .. But you will get the same rude riders in the USA. The riders in the USA will get you equally as upset as the Nigeria riders.. The same way you want to slap a Nigeria rider , is the same way some USA riders will make you feel..

And if you tell Nigerian drivers to install cameras in their car now .. Most will not do it in order to protect themselves.. If rider is aware that their is a camera in the car, they tend to behave themselves more. Most Nigeria driver fail to know the reason USA drivers have cameras in their ... it is to cut down on the complains that Nigeria drivers are complaining about

That is why Nigeria is backwards day.. The economic is barely moving forward ..

what works for the goose might not work for the tortoise.

Using the United states as a yard stick for how things needs to work for the whole world is wrong, that is why the Europeans are always skeptical of Americans even among European countries they are always skeptical of each others. the US isnt the universal standard for how humans needs to behave. culture matters alot especially when doing things..an american might go to Germany and be shocked about the relationship between a customer and service provider, he might consider it rude but for the Germans it is normal and their way of life.

Many american companies have gone outside their shore and failed woefully because they didnt understand how the native people behaved, they wanted to impose the american way..at the end of the day, they had to pack out or adapt to the culture and way of life to make money.

do you think american companies behave american when in saudi arabia, china, japan or in europe- NO, they adapt..just because a group of people or a country do not accept the american way of doing things does not mean they are backward.

To digress a little, Nigeria might be moving backward in your view but there are lot of foreigners dying to enter Nigerian everyday..we Nigerians sometimes need to be positive about our country, we personally destroy the image of our country and then be in shock when people treat us differently in their country.

anybody interested should watch these videos below

maybe drivers need to install dash cam on their dash board, i think, it will reduce bad behaviors from riders.

it seems the Americans do not take it lightly with rude riders, any slight case of rudeness from riders, riders are thrown out, no talk of customer service..the trick about human relationships is, if you show respect to your fellow humans, they will also show respect to you.

They are ways to handle rude drivers or people .. Depending how uber sees how each drivers handles the situation, will depend if the driver has been banned.. All these video you showing does not mean that uber supports the driver's action.. And again depending how uber sees it fit .. The driver might be banned for Life.

What those drivers did was legal and uber can not ban them because it is in par with uber's community guideline

drivers are not employee of Uber, they have rights also, when a rider is rude to a driver, it is up to the driver to cut the trip and politely boot out the rider.

https://help.uber.com/riders/article/my-rider-made-me-feel-unsafe?nodeId=71b61db7-37ef-4d56-82fa-a2f145e41270

https://help.uber.com/partners/article/my-rider-was-rude?nodeId=9c53129e-e6c7-48d5-9ad2-5e3d602f004d

according to uber's community guideline

Riders and drivers are expected to be polite towards each other at all times, as per our Community Guidelines.

Everyone who signs up for an Uber account is required to follow Uber’s Community Guidelines. They reflect the following 3 pillars and the standards in each of these sections.

Treat everyone with respect
Help keep one another safe
Follow the law

Treat everyone with respect

Treat your fellow Uber app users as you would like to be treated yourself: with respect.

The actions you take while using the Uber apps can have a big impact on the safety and comfort of others. Courtesy matters. That’s why you are expected to exercise good judgment and behave decently toward other people when using the Uber apps—just as you would in any public place.

For example, always try to be on time for your ride or to pick up your delivery because nobody likes to wait. It’s also common courtesy not to shout, swear, or slam the car door. And by tidying up after yourself—whether it’s taking your trash home or cleaning up a spilled drink—you’ll help keep the car in good condition and help ensure the next person has a pleasant ride, too.

Why did you come from?
You epitomize wisdom and maturity.

Your post is filled with wisdom.
If you take beers, I would have ordered you 4 chilled bottles Heineken.
thebosstrevor:
customer service is good for SME, big businesses and in the ehailing business, it brings repeated businesses, also businesses also have the right to cut off services to rude customers, because they say Customers is the King does not mean a customer needs to disrespect a service provider.

Companies discriminate when providing good customers services to customers, a customer that brings more cash to a business will be treated better than a customer who brings less cash to a business, this type of treatment happens in every organisations

In the service industry e.g restaurant business, some restaurants will gladly send out a rude customer, even in football, rude customers(fans) are banned from games and club events, some are even given life time ban. in the club business, a club owner will gladly throw out a rude customer if he breaks the rules of conduct.

in as much as a customer wants good services from a business, a customer also must learn how to also show respect to a service provider. where there is no consequences people behave anyhow

For Drivers in ehailing business in Nigeria, you are not an employee of any e-hailing company but a partner, you have the right to cancel on rude rider, stop riders from eating in your car, report rude riders, decide not to communicate or communicate with riders, help or not help a rider move his or her bags, all over the world drivers do that, it is your right. Remember you have no health insurance, pension, leave, leave allowance and other perks that comes with being an employee, also know the difference between slavery and customer service because the outright Nigerian mentality is to enslave people when service is being provided to them, also learn to say NO, just because you are offering customer service does not mean you cant say No to many request from riders

There is a reason why rules in the US does not work in Nigeria because we have different culture and way of life, so i think it will be unfair to put the same standards for what works in the US to judge Nigeria, even many international companies localize how their businesses works in their country of domicile.

Nigeria is a lawless society with angry and unruly people who do not care about others, Many Nigerians are ready to manipulate and take advantage of you if you show any signs of weakness, the average Nigerian will use and destroy your self esteem just because you are offering them a service, as you become very familiar with them they turn you into house boy and house girl, before you know it they want only free services, it is advice able for drivers not to get too friendly with riders, know your boundaries and do not accept unruly behavior from riders.

1daboi is right. He's not misinformed neither is he a naive young fellow.

I don't know about Uber but LYFT. people without papers drove lyft and generated fake SSN attached to their names and background check will always come out clean. It was very rampart sometime in Chicago.

Even when these ridesharing companies know, they just them to reactivate their account with SSN. Some will do it and escape through and some will be deactivated permanently and no ridesharing companies will even bother telling the police and nobody is going to jail or deported.

Even up till now in Illinois, undocumented(illegal) immigrant gets driver license. Just show proof of residency in illinois for a year and your ID, then you get a driver license. No SSN needed!.

Thanks

How do our politicians behave when they get over there? Don't they obey the law? Of course they do! They don't chase away pedestrian and motorist with convoys when they find themselves in that environment

So, your environment affects peoples behavior. Psychology affirms it.
It affects the person. An article of Lehigh university confirms it.

As for rating, uber automatically gives riders 5stars. And gives the drivers no stars automatically. The driver will have to approved it before embarking on a new trip. He can approved 5 star for rider mistakenly. But cannot approved 1 or 2 or 3 mistakenly. The riders rating is inconsequential. Riders can open multiple account on bolt just to get bonus. But drivers cant. And you think it has effect on them whatsoever. I have seen drivers account getting blocked because of rating. You can't say such for riders.

The driver can never edit a rating he gave a rider. A rider can edit the rating he gave a driver on uber after realising the driver gave him/her a low rating. So a driver that doesn't want his rating to drop will likely gives a rider a 5 star and in USA accumulated rating of 4.6 is likely to get the driver thrown out. Uber didn't specify for Benin but they know their benchmark.

You are the one bringing up violence reaction in your last paragraph I've never advocated for such. never have i share a story where i was violent. To my knowledge I've also not heard of another person talking of slap here. Don't take sh*t doesn't mean getting physical

There's a lot you don't understand. 1 week leisure work won't be bad idea. Enough said

He cannot drive.
He doesn't even know the cost of drivers license in Nigeria.

There was a Nigerian nurse in the USA that has similar attitudes that you guys display here.. The Nigeria nurse was yelling at the patient etc. .. The nurse was fired on the spot.... The nurse was dealing with mental patients... keep in mind in USA a small boy 15 years can tell someone like you old enough to be his father to shut up. Somebody younger than u in abroad can call you by name and tell you hey come here.. Will you now start beating the person up ... people have to learn how to handle rudeness appropriately .......

Lies. All you do is trump up conspiracies.

It is on record. A good chunk of folks who left the shores of Nigeria to work abroad have always been exemplary.

Maybe if it is possible to do research for few months ..we can compare Nigeria riders vs USA in both hostile environment and sane environment.... Years ago before uber, taxi drivers were getting rob and killed in New York and other parts of the US. Even with uber now, drivers were getting assaulted, accuse of rape etc. A lot of drivers starting installing cameras in their car ....If a person is bad, the person is regardless the environment.

The best way to curb bad riders in the Nigerian environment is to follow uber policy.... If you are ask to do something against policy of uber . You calmly say no and rate them accordingly .. Most drivers am sure don't even rate their riders.. The rating system is to help weed out bad riders and driver .. So rate them...

Now if you can't handle rude riders, that yell and scream etc .. And than you get easily upset and angry.. Uber is not for you.. Because even in the USA you have those type of ghetto riders or co worker that gets you so mad that you just want to land them hot slap.. So if you are landing everyone hot slaps that disrespects you , you either end up in jail or dead.. Yankee is free country, [s]we have more private gun owners than any country in the world.. How you handle situation matters o ... [/s]
Sorry, who be we, It's Naija not ur country again... "Just for laugh"
