I just don't understand what Sanusi is wasting his time doing with this Emir stool, dealing with this local politicians that have no moral compass, and On a normal day are not even close to his level. Sanusi should just resign and relocate to the world stage. Being in Kano is limiting his potential, he has a lot to offer elsewhere.

I can't agree more really.

Lets see if Sanusi will give accept his fate or vacate the throne. Gandolla played the game well. These traditional institutions derive their power from the state governments. That means the state has power to alter, create or destroy them.

Not so.

Wrong educate yourself on state laws. Oba's dont make laws or collect taxes. The derive their power from state government as well.

Yoruba politicians don't rebel against traditional order this is how Yoruba is one of the most advanced races because they never abandon tradition. Doesn't matter if Yoruba Christian or Muslim Oduduwa comes first.

It is one thing to get power(whether by intimidation or rightly), it's another to apply it.
In this Ganduje may not apply it, because the consequence would befall him after his tenure without mercy.

This is not about Sanusi. Nigeria runs a presidential system of government in a democratic setting and not monarch system.

The governor of any state has the power to dethrone any traditional ruler.

Wike is also warming up to dethrone Amayanabo of Kalabari Kingdom.

I am in US and I know Yoruba politician never lose their mind and go against their beloved Oba. Even if they disagree the society of Yorubas keeps peoples in their places as subject to the Oba.

KANO NEW EMIRATES LAWS TUSSLE, COURT MAKES U-TURN

A Kano high court sitting at Audu Bako secretariat headed by Justice A. T. Badamasi has refrained from making judicial pronouncements on the substantive suit before him challenging the enactment of the new Kano state emirate council law, 2019.

Kano kingmakers led by Yusuf Nabahani (Madakin Kano) had dragged Kano state government, Kano state house of assembly Speaker, Kano state house of assembly and Kano state commissioner of justice before the court, seeking to restrain the governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje from inaugurating the state council of chiefs.

You're statement doesn't negate any fact stated. Traditional institutions derive their power from that state its that simple. The states can be argued to be constitutional monarchies at best. Those monarchs have only ceremonial powers. The power is with elected representatives..

What do you have trouble understanding?

What trouble you have understanding that Yorubaland is well ordered and no governor elected there is without respect to the tradition? There was one governor who went against an oba and was begging forgiveness afterwards. The Hausas are a different people and have chosen to put state over traditional rulers yet it doesn't happen in Yorubaland.

In Benin govt don't have any power to determine whether to scrap off powers from the Oba. Here the king is truly King...Govt don't make kings(Oba) here, kings are only born...

I didn't argue if they respect tradition or not. I said traditional institutions are subject to the state. You're the one making irrelevant arguments about yorubaland and hausa land since you cant debunk what Initially said.

All your statement prove is the monarchs are simply more popular. It's no different from other constitutional monarchies like UK or Japan where the parliament could eliminate the monarchy if they so choose to. Since the electorate isnt ok with it wont happen.

The way Yoruba people were train, we have respect for Our traditional rulers. There is an adage that says, Oba tó jẹ́ ti ilu toro, orúkọ rẹ kò lè parun. So no Governor from South West will want to put his name in wrong book. That is what make Ajumobi loose respect in Ibadan and He lost Senatorial seat after his governorship tenure. Trying to upgrade Baálè to King in Ìbàdàn. This make APC lost Oyo State.

Wrong! For so long as I can remember instances where a Yoruba Oba gets into the Arena of partisan politics he loses the respect his stool attracts and gets his nose bloodied in the process! It is all about mutual respect and the integrity and dignity the occupant brings to the throne. Every privilege comes at a price. Just as it is incompatible with the office of a Traditional Ruler to be a social crusader so also it’s is with a serving Judge. Reason is both the government and the governed sooner than later will submit their disputes to The Traditional Ruler and The Judge for adjudication! For
a Traditional Ruler Emir Sanusi talks too much and controversially too!
