It will still be paid by the customers.... Imagine something normally sold for N1470 now going for N1550 cos of POS Charge... Its not a problem collecting it... but put it to good use, not embezzlement 3 Likes |

And you expect the merchant not to transfer this fee to the customers. If that's the case then most them will eventually abandon their POS machines. 2 Likes |

Whether business or customer, the customer will bear the brunt. It is either businesses factor in that cost in the price of goods and services or they stop using the POS entirely. 2 Likes |

The CBN should also compel commercial banks to make quick reversals for failed transactions. They should be bothered that banks are irresponsibly flouting the laid down order. 4 Likes |

The customers and consumers will still pay eventually via increased cost of goods and services, which will be a consequence of the merchants trying to maximize their profits and refusing to bear any bloody charge... So, nothing new done here... Usual fake solutions and smokescreens. 2 Likes |

All forms of taxation on businesses are passed down in one way or the other to the final consumer. Any primary 3 pupil should know that. What did the CBN staff think would happen when they made the policy? 2 Likes |

HolyHero:Good you reconsidered. Filling stations for example have been structured to earn fixed amount on their products while compliance is ensured by the DPR. POS was a tool to help the government's cashless policy and more suited for the convenience of the customer. So why should one expect a business to eat into its profits to remit a statutory 'Stamp Duty"for a service not more beneficial to it as it is to the customer? Doesn't make sense and is impracticable! In due time, CBN would know just how sensible this 'clever-by-half' clarification is and how well it bodes for the government's cashless policy and act appropriately. 6 Likes 1 Share |
