Dear OP, I'd like to bring your attention to Unilorin concerning such case as yours. Studying Medicine in 100L in 2018 cost me: ₦20, 000 acceptance fee (compulsory in all schools) ₦27, 500 total other fees(including Faculty fees, bandwidth, and school fees(which, in itself, costs ₦13,500)) <₦3000 miscellaneous fee(practical manuals, et al) That is about ₦50,000, in total (which is less than only the acceptance fee of several schools around). I do not know about the fee concerning hostel as I obtained an abode with ₦24,000 off-campus, which, however, attracted a cost of ₦100 TF on days I had important activities to execute in school. This is from perspective of Medicine as a course, whereas several other courses charge considerably less. However, while this fee glided up a little in the following session; it is for about ₦5000 or less. Other picks: In my three sessions stay here, handout is inexistence as I believe it is in every other schools too; The security is top notch, you can be in campus anytime with a peace of mind; Serenity seems to have no other home, Cost of living is equal to your expectation-average, Lecturers(within my knowledge frame) seems friendly; Zero oppression or bully from anyone-even seniors respect juniors, lol; Yes, almost flawless system of electricity; And, of course, the calendar here is fitting in precisely, delay doesn't exist; considering your age, you may want to ponder spending your 4/5/6 years without an hijack in your time plans, except your level of seriousness that may play a role. Meanwhile, I'd like to point that the prospect of making money while studying, based on your assertion that you'd be funding your education yourself, is what I cannot guarantee, although if you know how to play your cards well, like those who profit doing so, a population of this size may profer a source of income. Also, you may not enjoy the Wi-Fi cloud. I wish you well your decision. Peace. 2 Likes |

University of Lagos. Fresh Students pays about 58k While returning students pays 14500 (9500 for fee while 5000 is for TSHIP) Just Google each institution and their fee to confirm but Unilag, UI and OAU are the cheapest of all TerryMcGinis: |

ABU Zaria is the best school any parent will wish to send their children. But admission is tough, because it is based on merit and catchment areas and highly competitive also. You must be among the best three in your state to be admitted for any course on merit. ABU is the best because of the following reasons: 1. It is a prestigious University with the alumni everywhere and occupy key places( The Only school to produce a President, three Vice-Presidents and currently President of United Nation General Assembly) 2.It is one of First Big Five League of Universities 3. It is the largest University in Nigeria 4. It is the most resource based University- You may not need to buy textbooks(depending on the course) before you graduate, because you are entitled to borrow 5 or more books renewable periodically from the University Library , apart from the books from Faculty Library and Departmental Library 5. It is the cleanest and most environmental friendly University in Nigeria 6. The School has one of the best University Structures in the World 7. It is the safest Campus in Nigeria 8. Cost of Living is very Cheap 9. It is cultism free. 10. ABU is the only University in Nigeria that organizes National A-Level Exams for other Universities-IJMB 10. ABU has the highest number of Foreign Students in Nigerian University System 11. Opportunity to meet people and make friends from every part of Nigeria 12. ABU students and graduates are very proud of the School. 13. The cheapest university 14. The highest funded University in Nigeria 15. No handout The Question is , will you be able to secure admission ? It is highly competitive. 3 Likes |

Don't mind all those saying 10k,12k, most of them graduated 5,10 years ago, there is no how you won't spend up to 100k in your first year in any federal school....Unilag is quite cheap I tell you, it's a bit hig the first year, you know the acceptance fee, registration fee, faculty and departmental registration and all, just budget around 100k for first year but the subsequent years is 16k for non science and 21k for science and languages.. |

Imagine the cheap cost of education in our universities compared to those in say North America or some parts of Europe...no wonder the quality of education we got from those institution were of low-quality. |

Ui is cheap but i can really say if it's the cheapest. i paid 25k in my first, i'll be paying less than 20k in my subsequent years. almost all the schools have the first year being up to 100k. like ui, 35k acceptance fee, 25 school fee, 30k hostel fee, in addition to the miscellineous, let's say 20k. |

TerryMcGinis We are almost in the same shoes only that I already finished in the College of Education through Part-time studies with 4.5 Cgpa in physics/maths. Considering your age I would advise you try Open Universities, so you would be able to work, school, help other family members e.g siblings and plan probably your personal life - marital life while doing so. That's what I would do God willing. This is not the best advice anyway, but like someone said, ask God to direct you. That, my friend is the most important part. I don't see myself sitting within the four walls of a school being told what to do by some folks with outdated handouts. While I am working, I'm taking different courses to develop myself. School isn't everything bro!... One of the most important thing is self development. Try and watch this video.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42smT6cA-hk 1 Like |
