I am talking about Rooney playing behind Van Persie 4-2-3-1. He was a forward player and was been called to drop to midfield to play to be one of the middle two. In 4-2-3-1, the (3 and 1) are forward players.

Ozil is a forward player. De Bruyne is a forward when played in 4-2-3-1 or in the wing of 4-3-3 same as Lingard does. Lingard is even a traditional winger. Nothing concern Lingard with midfield as we know Carrick and Scholes to be.

Nani is a better dribbler and crosser. Its a weird comparison because Nani was never really a penalty taker or on freekicks. Rashford has the edge as a finisher because he's a wide forward while Nani played more as a winger. So very strange to compare them.
