When the time was finally come for the long awaited Messiah to be born, of all the choice rooms and places in Israel at the time, it was a common barn that God saw as the most fitting and had chosen as the best place to house His birth, that He deliberately ensured that all the rooms at the inn were filled up to have His wish.

So while the newborns of men were usually placed on small beds immediately after birth, it was a manger (a container from which cattles fed) that the only begotten Son of God was laid in after His birth, even according to the way that God had ordained it to be.

But come and see the groove in heaven, as all the hosts of heaven and the angels were rejoicing because of the newborn child that lay in a mere manger, because the newborn child was the Son of God, so laying in a lowly manger didn't make Him any less of the Son of God that He was, as the manger didn't make the newborn child, but it was the newborn child that made the manger.

So from being the lowliest of places for a newborn child to be laid, the manger became the most highly exalted baby bed of all time.
