maishai: The guy came to clear the mess at Lafarge and was planning on how to reposition the company. I want to believe that things are not well with the former CEO and the parent company. It is not ethical for a top management staff to resign and immediately pick up an appointment with a rival company that operates in the same market with you. He can resign and pick up the appointment in a similar company that is operating in another country or continent. The former CEO of Lafarge has trade secrets, strategies, plans etc of Lafarge, which he will use to the advantage of Dangote cement. 3 Likes |

rebekah2011: He was probably sacked by Lafarge, in which case he can not be restricted from taking up similar employment opportunities in a competing firm. If Lafarge doesn't want him to work with Dangote Cement, they should pay him for that! |

The way DANGOTE is going, he might end up buying WAPCO. Over the years, he has poached many staff of WAPCO . Alhaji detest competitors. He picked ibeto, Bua and ensures they are never at the same level with DC The exit of Michel Puchercos will definitely affect wapco. At the exit of. Joseph makanju, wapco struggled to compete for years. It was a period of regular rights issues. Puchercos returned wapco as investors darling, and Alhaji suddenly poached him. He has broken investors heart. We wish the Arab technocrat at the helm a successful mission. He is stepping into a Big pair of Shoe. Puchercos is 2 man in one. Wapco staff will mourn him. No one is indispensable, Wapco will surely reach the height 1 Like |

Godlylifeoneart: Consolidations is ongoing in the cement industry.Dangote should tighten his seat belt for a stiffer competition from the peers. All I know is the sector gonna bubble in 2020 no matter the changes in leadership. |

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by emmanuelewumi(m): 11:27am On Dec 27, 2019 |
Harvestock01: That was why I said things are not well with the former CEO and the parent company. If the former CEO left voluntarily, he can't pick up an appointment with a rival company. In the telecommunication sector if a management staff resigns he can't pick up an appointment in a similar company in the country until a period of 5 years... In most cases whenever they resign, the cross over to the banking, manufacturing, oil and gas etc. The former company secretary of Lafarge resigned about 2 years ago to become the company secretary of a bank |

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by emmanuelewumi(m): 11:37am On Dec 27, 2019 |
Godlylifeoneart: I have shares in Lafarge, the company needs to up their game and learn from Dangote cement how the sales, marketing and distribution team are well motivated and compensated. Go to Ifo, Sango and some towns that are less than 10 kilometers from Lafarge plant, you will find out that Dangote cement is the preferred brand. About 15 years ago, Lafarge was the market leader who controlled 60% of the market share, but now the company is struggling to have less than 30% of the cement market share. Big distributors of Dangote cement earned between N100 million and N200 million as bonus during the annual appreciation night for Dangote cement distributors. No wonder why distributors of Lafarge are changing their alliance and joining the train of Dangote cement. A CEO who cleared the mess at Lafarge, who has also drawn up his plans to reposition the company should have been allowed to do his job. I think the parent company wanted another person to take the glory of the good job done by the former CEO. |
