The recurring December fuel shortages of the past were as a result of the greed of the fuel importer/distributors who used the ember period to enrich their pockets. Buhari's regime just made it unprofitable for them 1 Like |

The last fuel scarcity was December 2014. Since People's General took charge in 2015 fuel scarcity became a thing of past. 1 Like |

Staro: That's not true...there were queues from 2012-14 and even in 2011.... That was because fuel subsidy was no longer sustainable, something GEJ tried to tell you people when he tried to remove it in 2012...but you Nigerians said no, and forced him to reintroduce it partially.... |

Re: December Constant Fuel Queues Gone With Pdp by Nobody: 5:20pm On Dec 28, 2019 |
ORIENTATION101: Again, that's not true. There were fuel queues until 2017.. Why 1.The government was owing fuel marketers subsidy claims from 2013 onward...claims that were not paid up till 2018. 2.Until 2017....everyone and his mother was allowed to import fuel..and then claim subsidy claims. After 2017, the Buhari admin made NNPC the sole importer of fuel, and paid it the subsidy directly (or part of it, as NNPC funds the rest from its own funds....which is why Kalichukwu was not too fond of the subsidy thing). 3.As a result...NNPC imports fuel at N180( as at 2018 december)...and then sells it to depot at N137..who then sell to marketers at a slightly higher price..who then sell to consumers at N145. 4.The problem is, long term this is not going to be sustainable. When Dangote comes on stream in 2021...government is going to have to remove subsidy, or Dangote would be operating his refinery at a loss. NNPC is also losing money on subsides....and as a result of NNPC not being able to make a good profit, NNPC cannot upgrade or maintain refineries proeprly...or even build new ones. And no investor is going to come and refine fuel at a cost of N160 and above and sell it at N145... So, if your dear leader Bubu does not remove subsidies....fuel queues would be back in the next one year.... |
