I'm Tired Of Buying Fake Fuel Pump! Somebody Help Me! by Kelvin30286063(m): 10:57am On Dec 28, 2019 |
Car Type: Honda Accord 2007 (Europe spec) About 3 month ago, my fuel pump developed fault. Technically that was due to the fact that my tank was dirty. I took the car to my mechanic and the took out the tank and washed it. I bought a new complete fuel pump. I live in Ondo state so it was not easy getting genuine parts here. The seller had to order it from Lagos and we paid the way bill. Now fast forward to 1 month after, the fuel pump broke down. I was shocked. They said this thing is tokunbo and it's genuine now! We bought another pump. This time around, I only bought the engine. They said its genuine. Had to pay 6k for it. To my surprise. This pump broke down in less than 2 weeks. Just last week, I bought a new pump again (just the engine) though the pump still works but I know its fake cuz I notice that whenever I travel for about 1 hour, the engine power reduces cuz fuel stops supplying the way it should be. Technically that is because the fuel pump engine becomes hot. I have checked for other reasons for the quick damage of fuel pump and everything is fine. I even replaced some parts that I feel could be the reason so I'm pretty sure I've been buying all this China made pumps in the name of tokunbo. All this guys selling parts around here want to kill me I swear. I don't even care now much I'm spending on the pump. I just want my car to fire well. My question is, someone should please for God sake recommend a type of pump to me and give me the contact to a genuine part seller. I'm tired! I'll try to reach Gazzuzz and see if he can help but I'm not sure. I'll pay the waybill from anywhere as long as I'm sure the fuel pump is genuine. Thanks everyone. |

replace the complete assy one more time. Current one is clogged and contaminated. It will damage any pump you put into it. 2 Likes |

Not a mechanic but as a Biafran i have come to understand the reason fuel pump dies out so easily in the zoological republic. Most filters na follow come that accumulate dirts over the years without be changed and in the end it doesn't matter what pump you bought, it will impede petrol flow and over heat its motor. . In the case of honda i believe filter is underneath the car. Anyway change the filter as well as the pump and say All hail . . . 1 Like |

If you are good in DIY, scan the car and monitor the fuel pump's duty cycle and fuel line pressure. At least one of those PIDs should be there. If you can, post results here. Are you sure that you are not buying wrong specification fuel pump because there are reasons why wrong specification fuel pumps don't work for a particular car. |

EngRichie:Honda doesnt provide such pids ,beside the type of fuel pump design is not duty cycle type but pure direct 12v actuated by PCM via relay Diagnosis this type of issue will require scoping the current waveform of the fuel pump amperage draw for volume test and performing pressure test with appropriate pressure transducer, analysis of this test and amperage waveform will tell such precise story ,however this is beyond DIY but advance diagnosis . |

I have had similar problems and ended up changing 5 fuel pump,in desperation I have to change rewire and the new one just laughed and said oga all that fuel pump you changed are good including the failed one in the car,the cause, the filter had a small tear that allows small sand particles in to seize the pump, solution, wash fuel tank, change fuel filter and wash condemned fuel pump in diesel and it started working again.all 4 of them. 2 Likes |

The state of health of any pump can be determined using current probe(amp clamp) together with a scope. With the current waveform of the pump, the pump rpm can be determined together with in-rush current and the exact currrent draw of the pump. With all these, the true state of health of the pump can be determined. |

Brother l was in your condition. Check your fuel pump relay. Honda fuel pump hardly dies. If your fuel pump relay is bad, you go change fuel pump tire. |
