Hi, a career as a Geologist isn't a bad idea. As a geologist, you have opportunities to work in Oil & gas firms, construction companies, Hydrological & Environment ministries or decide to pursue a career in lecturing.

Well-trained and experienced geologists who conduct seismic surveys and analyse the data to locate new deposits, are paid well in the offshore oil and gas industry.

Geology graduates typically pursue careers in one of four major sectors:
Industry
Examples: petroleum, metals and minerals mining, resources mining (sand and gravel, aggregate, etc.)

Environmental
Examples: environmental consulting, hydrology, mapping/GIS analysis, non-profit work, conservation

Government
Examples: Ministry of Mines and Steel, Nigerian Geological Survey Agency.

Education/Research
Examples: University teaching and/or research

With an economics degree ,you can work in a variety of different fields from finance and banking, public policy, sales and marketing, civil service (government departments, the Federal Inland Revenue, etc.), insurance and actuarial work, etc.

However,I'll suggest you go for ICAN or ACCA so you'll stand a much better chance in the labour market particularly in the financial sector. Adding a professional qualification like ICAN or ACCA to your Bachelor's degree( Economics) increases your chance of getting a job in a top notch consulting firm like KPMG,Deloitte,PWC etc and also reputable organizations like Bank,Oil company,Investment bank,FMCG company etc.

Hi. Why limit yourself to Nigeria? If you have atleast a Second Class Lower and you are below 35 years, you can pursue a Masters' Degree in a related field in China under the platform of the Chinese Government Scholarship(Fully Funded). With that, you can explore your options looking at other countries.

Hello,in my opinion I would advice you become chartered first by doing your ICAN or ACCA. You can do your Masters' afterwards. I know of some people who started writing ICAN exams while in the university and completed it during NYSC. It's not too late to start.

English Literature, despite common misconceptions, is a lucrative career option. Although definitely leaning to the creative side, a degree in English Literature entails reading and analysing a hefty amount of print, deciphering works of fiction and finding the meaning behind words.

Some of the career pathways which graduates of the profession can pick from include teaching, journalism, copywriter, editorial assistant, lexicographer, book publisher, copy-editor/proofreader among others.

Back to your question, you will need to choose an area you will like to build a profession if you want a more detailed guidance. Cheers

Good evening sir. I need a frank and honest advice from you. I made a 2.2 in Accounting and this has been the greatest shock of my life considering how hard working I was back in school. However, I have decided to move on with my life and see how I can improve on myself. I have thought of ICAN and Msc but then aside the resources, age is not on my side as I will be 28 this year. A friend of mine has kindled my interest in digital skills but I am asking myself if its really worth it because by the time I will be through with NYSC, I will be 29 and I wonder what organisation would be ready to hire me. I need your advice on the necessary skills to improve myself.

Hello,Digital Marketing skill is worth it if you will be committed to learning the core and in demand aspect of it. A corp member contacted me from this platform in 2017 and she was added to my whatsapp group,I counseled my members lots of times to acquire digital marketing skill (every organization wants to sell and remain relevant even almighty google advertises till date). She wasn't open to my advice initially but in 2008 towards August she enrolled for a training. The summary is that she is presently earning above 200,000Naira working with a reputable organisation. Also note, you both are in the same age bracket.

When you have Skills (IT/Digital/Technical Skills),a good number of organizations won't mind your age (except those with strict rules).

Also,if you are a digital marketer with a difference (great at lead generation, qualification and conversion),getting a job won't be an issue.
