It usually takes 3-4 Hyenas to take on a single lioness..... That number go's up to 6-7 if its a full grown male.

And its much more common to see a lion kill a Hyena than the other way around, and usually if a clan of Hyenas manage to kill a Lion its usually an old weak lion that could keep up with the pride anymore.
