EOY Price action We've gone from things could get worse to things cud get better - in place of Dec rally , we have Dec Support with prices finding buyers at day lows - monthly charts shows prices are above monthly open and prev month close (positive) - prices also above prev weekly close (positive) - no strong vol to downside , good support for late comers - if price is below your entry , no biggie , calm - if ur in profit end , no biggie - will give a deeper technical analysis update - let me know wat stocks u want to look at 2 Likes |

fxuser: Ex: non banks Wapco ranging btw 13 low to 14 high all dat shake and bake na support plays and takes out weak hands et al close below 13 is where u want to worried since its an area where buyers have shown interest DangCem - back and forth its not making lower weekly closures like MTN - price ranges above and below N140 , never really going far in any direction (range tinz) - call it eoy rebalancing , price action is simply ongoing bottoming , like Nbrew (see weekly charts) - good for index #cementExample |

Scanning through most past post, I observed that the talking point here and a few other key forum I belong to has been the recent news sorrounding coys in the cement business segement, particularly DANGOTE CEMENT. I see there are worries over; ● The proposed reverse stock split and share repurchase scheme with DANGOTE CEMENT, ● The recent turnaround of the path to resurgence of earnings and growth trajectory with LARFAGE WAPCO and if it can be sustained AND ● The recent wave of mergers(kalambania and obu in view) surrounding CCNN. The PUZZLE is in which amongst the 3 coys presents a better route to VALUE !!(risk-reward margin in view) Ealier today, someone asked me a pivotal question in one of the telegram forum I belong to. He said; If u had N14M to invest in this sector, which would u choose to buy between a 100,000 unit of DC, 1M unit of WAPCO or little less than that in CCNN given their current market price? What is the best route for one looking to maximize returns from both a possible cap appreciation and dividend cashflow reward? I see the honest quest for answers to what I call corporate governance puzzles with all 3 coys. Some folks are worried about WAPCO given the recent resignation and immediate employment of its former CEO/MD by DC, but in truth, while there a few worries with all 3 coys, there is even more with DC. With DANGOTE CEMENT, puzzles like; 1) Why is the company embarking on the duo(2) proposal of a share repurchase scheme and a reverse stock split(I observed that folks have paid less attention to this line) at a time that it has a free float difficiency? ...what could possibly be the motive behind it all? 2) What are the likely merits(feasible reward) and demerits(inherent risk) to the proposal and how best can u weigh them? 3) Are there really any benefit with the proposal to a minority shareholder? 4) Does the PE investor, South Africa's PIC still hold its 1.5% stake(following the $289.3M investment in 2013), and who currently represents it on the board of DC, after the former rep, Mr Fidelis Madavo, a non-executive director resigned towards the end of Nov, 2019, following his supposed role and resultant trial in a 4.3B rand Ayo transaction scam in South Africa? 5) Why was the closed period(a process which restricts insiders from trading in the shares of a coy prior to a sensitive corporate governance announcement) originally scheduled to hold between Nov 20th to Dec 6th cancelled? 6) Why has the share price underperformed since the said announcement despite the seeming euphoria sorrounding the company? I shall attempt to supply answers to these 6 questions and many more later today !! Salah 2 Likes |

MTN in the news again. https://www.moneyweb.co.za/news/companies-and-deals/mtn-reviewing-allegations-after-being-named-in-us-complaint/ MTN reviewing allegations after being named in US complaintThe complaint alleges several firms, including MTN, violated the US Anti-Terrorism Act. South African telecoms firm MTN on Monday said it was reviewing allegations raised in a US complaint which accuses several firms of paying protection money to extremist groups in Afghanistan. The complaint was filed in the United States District Court in the District of Columbia on Friday. It alleges the firms violated the US Anti-Terrorism Act by paying protection money to al Qaeda and the Taliban, thereby providing material support to known terrorist organisations. It seeks damages on behalf of US military members and civilians killed or wounded in Afghanistan between 2009 and 2017. “MTN is reviewing the details of the report and is consulting its advisors but remains of the view that it conducts its business in a responsible and compliant manner in all its territories,” the company said in a statement. The complaint follows investigations by a group of large Washington-based law firms and allege firms provided “material support” to known terrorists leading to numerous US injuries and deaths, according to a statement by the law firms involved. MTN spokeswoman Nompilo Morafo said the company could not yet respond directly to the specific allegations in the report as it was still going through the details. “We cannot comment further than what we’ve said in the statement. We want a chance to review the allegations. We only received the suit on Friday and we’re still going through it. I also can’t confirm how long it’s going to take,” Morafo said. MTN is Africa’s largest mobile operator and eighth biggest in the world with 243.7 million subscribers. It has previously faced scrutiny over its Iranian operations. In February a former South African ambassador to Iran was arrested on charges that he took a bribe to help MTN win a $31.6 billion licence to operate there. The company has also faced costly disputes over unregistered SIM cards, tax and dividend repatriation in Nigeria. |

Thank you Oga OGG, There is no problem with the reverse split, the % of your holdings with be same only that the units will reduce and the price will go higher. Buying back a company's shares is a good move, when you see your company undervalued, please buy back the shares and cancel it. Dangote Cement is involved in road constructions, so demand will be for their products. Dangote is only competing with itself. The figures from all the other cement coys in Nigeria can be compared with the company. The margin of profit of the company is also very high when placed side by side with others. In the explanatory notes the company put out, the shareholders' holdings structure information has more information than the 2018 audited accounts could provide. Your point 5 is really a concern as you pointed out. But NSE has never been acting in the interest of the investing public when it comes to proper dissemination of timely information. Many feel that there are cheaper stocks out there and are refusing to key into it NOW. Dangote Cement is a stock that should not sell for less than N200 currently.
