I have a flair for painting during my childhood but unfortunately, i did not pursue it. But i still have it in me, all i need now is guidance on the type of paint i need if i want to sketch on a wall. I am not too familiar on this side of it.

Any ideas?

if the wall was screeded and has satin or matt paint on it,use acrylic mediums on it,it is best to match. If the wall has oil sheen on it,go for oil paints preferably. But if it's emulsion or texcote, use either acrylic or oil on it. I hope I was able to answer your questions dear. Thanks for your interest in the Art of paintings.

Thank you for your response.

The painting is on the walls of a restaurant by the way. I plan to do paintings of African celebrities. But my concern is, can you recommend the name or brand of paints i will use for this task? Something of quality that will last the test of time. Also i would not mind if you direct me to where i can buy them. I'm in Lagos by the way.

That's a good one.
There are hundreds of brands in the market when it comes to painting materials.
Your question seems like two in one.
1. I will start by letting you know that paints serve the primary purpose of covering a surface. What makes it to stand the test of time may not be fully dependable on the quality but the techniques and skills behind their manipulation.
2. When you use the right one on the right surface thus the preparation of the surface on which they will be used.
3. Aircrafts can get old and its painted body can still wear out when exposed to an unfriendly situation.
4. Personally I use brands such as dulux, berger, Sharon, kobak and citizen when it comes to creating on a wall. There are satin, matt, and sheen of the above mentioned brands.
5. These brands can still disappoint sometimes if the surface on which you are working is not well prepared. Here, your skill is now lord over the quality.
6. For the celebrities, I don't know the surface you intend to work on, but whichever surface, go for oil or acrylics, both are nice mediums, I enjoy oils more because of its nature. It is a slow dry medium. It gives me more time to think about the next step while painting. Acrylic will bring out the creative craze in you because It dries very fast. You will be forced into a target within a very short time frame.
You may go for brands such as Dealer Rooney, Generals, Quing Zhu,
Maries, Windsor , Van Gogh, etc.
In my 12yrs experience, they are lovely when used well.
7. U can check places like Ojuelegba.. Art World. You will see art shops starring heavily at you.
8. I don't know if I were able to answer the questions convincingly.
Thanks for having interest in the arts

Yeah, you did justice to my question.

I always have an interest in art right from my childhood days. All the three boys in my family are art freaks, but I didn't study it in school, why? When I was a kid I drew comics, I sketch for vanguard newspaper once, and I draw mickey mouse and the rest on school walls, but with the event of things and Nigerians not appreciating art, I found myself studying Engineering in school.

But the talent is still in me, only that i did not develop it, and that is why i am asking these questions. Because a childhood friend of mine called me and told me he knows how good i was when we were kids and would like me to do these wall sketch for him.
