About 25 years ago, there was a taxi driver based at Eko Hotel. There was nothing like Uber, Taxify etc.

The taxi driver was patronised by expatriates, diplomats, business executives on the Island .

The man made a lot of money but was reckless with money and women. His wife formed the habit of stealing her husband money on a daily basis.

She used the money to buy a plot of land at Agric area Ikorodu Lagos, she built a bungalow of 2 flats and 4 shops in the front of the house.

About 3 years ago, the man's taxi business nosedived and finally collapsed because of disruptive technology in form of e-hailing and competition from the likes of Uber and others, the government had earlier destroyed their taxi park at Victoria Island.

Money was not coming as it used to, he could not meet up with his house rent, he could not replace the vehicle he was using for taxi and finally he was given a quite notice to vacate his apartment.

He tried to raise money for another house, all to no avail.

Until the wife who is a house wife cum trader, took him to a house at Ikorodu. He liked the house, he now asked the wife where would he get money for this house.

Until she told her husband that the house belonged to them. He asked where did she get the money to build the house, she told the husband that she had been stealing from the husband all the while and she invested the money on behalf of the family.

The husband postrated and thanked the wife, and asked the wife why didn't she steal more money from him he said he never knew that his money was ever stolen

There is nothing as good as having a frugal wife who is interested in the progress and future of her family.
Wowww.i want to save so that if my husband gets into any difficulty in future,I will make sure he doesn't beg or take any loan.
the difference here is that my husband leaves little or no cash flying around for you to even steal. He is always investing and doesn't drink much so I make do with only what he gives me.
He won't easily get broke though as we already have 4 different buildings on rent excluding our residence with several empty lands and petrol tankers.
I will be strongly behind anytime he needs help cos he is a very good man.

u where trick '...mean that the business( rental ) was responsible...u didnt do enough home work ,under study the terrain well....it beyond just having 55m and any property.....u can over pay for a property......if i use 55m to buy 6 set of 2 bedroom in festact at 8m each ....i will rent all within 1 months at 500k each and if i intend to sell at 10m in 3 years is very much possible cos of some certain parameters like limited supply of new one ,ease of new millionaires hammering 10m m from clearing

The problem is that it's a duplex my taught was that company was suppose to take for there staff but it did not happen that way, I did not over pay for the property cos it's on going price of properties in that estate

I disagree with you. You weren't tricked. @ the bolded Always allow professional(Lawyers, expert property managers) handle your property plus you wanted to make fast profit in short time. If I were you I will rent it out on 1.8m and increase after 3yrs.

Rent in that environment fully detached duplex is from 3m naira

Because that is the prevailing price in the estate does not mean the investment was not overpriced.

How much will the 8 flat cost you and what is the rental income the property would have generated?

It is better to spread your risk, I will rather want to get N4 million rent from 8 tenants than having just one tenant who will pay me a rent of N4 million

In Asaba? 3 bedroom 600k Asaba main town before interbua or St Patrick Axis or FMC, 2 bed room Ogbogonogo 400k a room and parlour self-contained before head bridge 200-250 Location matters and I don't think there is land in Asaba, Opkanamu have finished selling their land, the next available place is Ugbolu land goes for 5-6mllion.

You peg your at 2m just to get tenants. Law of business, entering to gain customer reduce to price to get a small share of the market.
