Thanks ! I am just casting my bread upon the waters to see if there is anyone out there. It's been a while I did academic studying but I know that we have to keep pushing cos it's always never too late to start any endeavour

Mehn...I was assigned 3-4 courses by PEO since I got my EIT in April. I don't think I want to do it honestly as it's been 8 years since I dropped the pen. cheesy. Maybe if I get a study pal in Civil Engr'g, I might reconsider. If I see any of my friends taking your course, I will give you a shout. Good luck to us all grin grin

So am starting a WhatsApp group dedicated to Canadian Entrepreneurs in the Digital Economy. The objective is to provide a support system for all those that want to benefit from the digital economy.

At the base level, we will be considering businesses like:

Dropshipping
Affiliate Marketing
Influencer Marketing
Blogging
Ecommerce Platforms
Product Testing
Digital Photography
Forex/Stock Trading
YouTube Marketing, etc

It will also be an opportunity for people to collaborate on bigger projects.

The Group will be taking off on January 1, 2020, but open for joining already. However, there are rules:

1. You must already be operating a digital business or be ready to start one within 90days of joining

2. As we are building an ecosystem, you must be ready to share ideas and skills that will be beneficial to others

3. Membership is limited to people in Canada, regardless of nationality. No number from another country will be accepted

To join, please send me a private message stating your name, Canadian phone number and the venture you are in or looking to go into.

You should look into TFSA with Questrade. That way you can put your money in index funds like Vanguard.

I second this, Questrade is one of the few brokerage accounts that don’t charge you for buying funds, most charge about 10 bucks.

My people please don’t just use your TFSAs as a savings account. Invest invest invest!!!
If you’re not sure how to, read books, listen to podcasts....

Several buses in close proximity, Bus 10, 9, 43,81

If my memory serves me right, the building looks like one of Calgary Housing apartments used for one of their housing programs. A friend of mind lived here in 2014. The location is likely on 2nd St SW.

That is not the average rate of apartment in that condo. The cost of renting on one of those housing programs are usually lower than the market rates, if your yearly earning is lower than a particular fixed amount. They get renter's on a 1 yr lease term, which is subject to a yearly renewal that includes mandatory submission of renter's tax returns to check earnings for eligibility.

Maybe hayor2014 is looking for someone to take over the lease. Those condos are nice and well taken care of.

Salford1 is very correct,it's on 2nd Street, it's a Calgary housing company owned building , that's the reason for the below market rental price..
My friend who used it for just 6 months, got a job in Edmonton, hence the reason for renting it out.

Your son will be in pre-school- you have to pay for this but as a new immigrant, you will most likely be eligible for subsidy. He will start proper school(kindergarten) at age 4.

Daycare cost is dependent on the province, the older the child, the lesser the fees. Ontario is presently the most expensive, provinces like Quebec, Saskatchewan and Manitoba are kind of cheaper. Once your son starts school, you don’t have to pay but school closes 3:40pm(some provinces close 12 for the younger kids) and you have to pay for after school program in case you’re working and you have not closed work yet.

Good morning house!
Glad to finally be on this thread and hope to join you all in our dream land soon. We submitted our passports about 2 weeks ago and expecting COPR soon.
We are presently considering moving to Edmonton, Alberta in June, but have no family in Canada, so willing to change our minds to anywhere opportunities for advancement abound.
Please landed seniors in the Medical Field (@vcole, @ekpekus, and all others), please can you assist with advice on Clinical and Non-clinical pathways to employment for IMGs to explore in Canada?
Is there any pre-arrival program that may be helpful for Doctors? (I came across PASS for Nurses).
Most of the info (regarding pathways for Doctors) on this thread are from 2017. I have also read from other threads of the challenges of getting back into practice even after Passing the Exams (due to limited Residency slots for IMGs).
Please kindly assist with practical advice based on your experiences (and those of others you know).
Information regarding alternative careers one can explore will also be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for sharing and helping us make informed decisions.

Hello Everyone,
I just moved from Melbourne to Toronto as a permanent resident of Canada and I need an affordable room. My monthly budget for rent is between $500-$800. I am a single young Software Enginner who is clean and accustomed to living with people from various cultures and backgrounds. If anyone has anything, please just drop me a line.
