This has little or nothing to do with religious affiliation; but more with economic interests.
China and Russia have eyes on over taking USA as the economic power,so they may initially sit on the fence now just to goal the USA on,only to come out supporting Iran.

The US technically defeated Vietnam soundly, if you will consider technical superiority, despite the guerilla tactics North Vietnam employed during the war( that gave them the upper hand at the beginning.)

It was the sheer will power of the North Vietnamese people( they were willing to fight to the last soul) , and more importantly the public outcry of US citizens regarding the justification of the war that made the US pull out of Vietnam.

Infact, if the US had remained in Vietnam for another 1-2 years, North Vietnam would have been crushed to dust.

Vietnam war was one fought between northern Vietnam and southern Vietnam.....the north was supported by North Korea, Russia, Thailand and off course China. ....only the U.S. went in for southern Vietnam. ..
