Daisy's fingers pressed into the skin of her forearm, Her whole body shaking and bones rattling in the constant fear of the policemen words that still loomed before her....her heart pounded so hard against her ribcage as her pulse pressed outward, jerking the veins within...., she let go of the adrenaline coursing through her system and dialled Janet's number again.., lucky for her, she answered...

"Daisy..."Janet's voice resonated with the beep..

Daisy's heart twisted and sunk with nerves..."The police were here..."She said, voice shaking from the pumps in her heart..

"The police..!"Janet reiterated

Daisy exhale trying to calm her panic..."Yeah, they were looking for Laura..., they said she's wanted for murder..."

"Jesus.., is Richard dead...?"Janet blare out

Berserk eat at Daisy's stomach..."I don't know, i asked the policemen, they didn't tell me anything..."

"Then you should go check on him..."

Daisy's eyes narrowed with consternation..."I don't think i can go there..."

"You have to go Daisy, if he's dead we need to know..."

"If he's dead...!" her heart froze at the sound of the words....., she sigh and continue..."Can we go together..?"

"I can't Daisy, am at work..."

"Please..."

"I can't, i already went out three times today, if i add one more time, my boss will be pissed at me, i might get fired..."

She felt a tightening in her chest as the thought Richard could be dead engulfed her...,and once again, she panicked...."I can't go there..."

"You need to Daisy...., you know we couldn't check on him when we went there because the doctor refuse us..., if he's dead, we need to know, for Laura..."

"I can't go there alone.."Daisy said frightened...

"Call Lily..."

"Okay.., i will..."

"Alright..., no matter what you need to go there..."

She took a deep breathe when the call ended, terror holding her captive..., she felt like she was a prisoner in her own self....
Fighting the urge not to panic anymore, she dialled Lily's number....

Once again, fear found Daisy as they entered the hospital, she knew it was stupid to be scared but she couldn't help it..., her fear spoke to her in its cackling voice that Richard could be dead and coming to the hospital to confirm could be a bad idea. her legs went weak, her stomach lurch and her heart began to ache......

"Do you remember the room...?"Lily asked increasing her pace...

Incapacitated with fear, Daisy mutter..."Yeah.."

They walk in silence until they got to the door..., the curtains to the windows were closed making colour drained from Daisy's face, her adrenaline surged up so fast she almost vomit...

"Daisy..."Lily snapped her from her thoughts...

Daisy eyes turn to the passerbys and the few nurses that were heading their direction in groups, before she could ask them what has been pondering her head, Lily opened the room door..

Daisy's heart almost exploded from shock....

"He's alive afterall..."Lily sneer...

Daisy's brain stutters for a moment and her eyes take in more light than she expected, every part of her goes on pause while her thoughts catch up. After a wash of cold she step into the room....
"You're alive...?"She asked awkwardly...

"And good evening ladies..."Stephen chimes in...

"Helloo..."Daisy snapped ignoring Stephen's greeting...

Her heart hammered when Richard shift his bandage head to her before his eyes burrowed into hers and rolled over to Stephen's....

"You told the police you are dead..."Lily chided...

"I think he's in no position to talk now..."Stephen cut in..."I think you should come back..."

"Give me a cigarette Stephen..."Richard purred...

"You don't need a cigarette..."Stephen replied dropping his jotter and pen at his side...

"I need to smoke something..."Richard groaned

Stephen suck his teeth..."The only thing you'll be smoking are your meds..."

"You don't tell me what to do..."

"Am your doctor, so hypothetically, yes..."

"Hello, we're not invisible here...."Lily stated raising her hands in demonstration...

"No one said you were ladies..."Stephen said..."And like i said earlier, now it's not the time to talk to him, he's still in the state of repercussion..."

"Repercussion from what..?"Lily queried impetuously

"From what happened.., i mean the damage on his head..."

"So you saying he can't talk to us but he can to you...?"Lily asked

He shrugged..."Lie.., what lie did i tell them...?"

"Well i think the baseball bat my slut of a wife hit me with must have jumbled my memory, i think i may losing things..."

Daisy heart raced with tremendous speed..."Is that true...?"She asked Stephen..

Stephen glance at Richard before looking at her..."I don't think so..."

"If you get to see my wife..."Richard dive into the tension...."Tell her am coming for her..."

"What are you going to do to her...?Daisy asked curiously, scared the baseball bat was just the beginning, Richard is dangerous and dangerous men do dangerous things...

"Oh you'll watch...."He returned..."Same way you watched while she destroy my TV and set fire on my car...."

"You started the shit..., you beat her and she lost her baby..."

"My baby..."He growled almost getting up...

Daisy flinch at his outburst...

"Okay ladies you need to leave...."Stephen said slightly pushing them outside...."You can visit when he's more stable...."

Smouldering under a stony look, Lily head out first, Daisy stole a glance from Richard before running after Lily...

"Before now she was of the idea of going to her parent's place..."Lily said with a cringe at her..

Daisy shook her head at the possibility..."You think she went there..., that's five hours journey from here..."

Lily sigh and took her phone out from her bag..., her face rigid with tension she dialled Laura's number....
"Still switch off.."She muffled with low breathe

"Am scared Lily, where could she be...?"

Cold sweat glistened on Lily's brows as she tossed a strap of her hair backward...."I don't know..."

"I have a bad feeling about this..., do you think Richard knows something about her whereabouts....?"

"I doubt that since he sent the police to find her..."

"Should we go back to her house, she could be back..."

"If she's back she'll call us..."Lily replied...."Maybe she needs some time on her own to figure this whole brutal fiasco out.., i believe she'll be back..."

"No am not, but still we need to be optimistic...., if she doesn't show up before nightfall, then we'll know we have a problem in our hands..."

Daisy squirm with fear, fear Laura might be in real danger and they aren't aware and can't do a damn thing about it....

"Thank you..."Janet said to the customer after taking the money from her, when the customer left, she slumped down on the empty chair to take a rest, her head spinning from her frazzled state, There are days her tiredness comes in both forms, physical and mental. Her body needs to rest yet her mind needs it to move, to burn the anxiety right out and make the damn money ..

"At last..."Flora said crunching down to lie on her mat..

Janet stomach rumbled with hunger, she needs to eat before her body completely spiral into exhaustion...

"Sometimes i think the pay is too small for this job..."Flora said

"Good evening..."Janet said to the girl who smiled in reply...."What do you want..?"

"Condom..."

Janet flinch, she glance at Flora who was also shock at the tone the girl said it...

"Leave my husband alone, you filthy thing..."The girl shouted after her...
