ok...what about statement of results?

Statement of result and transcript mean the same thing.

If you want a formal statement of result with the school's stamp on it, they cannot give you the hard copy or even soft copy. They can only deliver it to a destination (such as a school or company) on your behalf

Is this a NOUN thing?

Cos this is not so in other universities..

Statement of result is not the same thing as transcript, and the former is in fact issued directly to students when the original certificate isn't available.

It is an attestation that one has completed a programme/course.

Is this a NOUN thing?

Cos this is not so in other universities..

The thing is, if our results on the portal had other things included in them, such as cgpa, total credit units done, etc., they would have qualified as our unofficial statements of results.

However, official statements of results (with the school stamp) are called transcripts. Maybe some schools give transcripts to students (I think my brother in his time got one from OAU) but as a graduate of UNILAG and NOUN which I am and from what I observed, both schools don't give them to students by hand. They only send them to the institutions on your behalf.

In place of certificate, what I know that some universities give is 'To Whom it may concern' which also contains your class (i.e. First class, second class etc)

You clearly didn't get me.

Attached is a random copy of a typical Nigerian university statement of result.

Ooookay
That is the equivalence of 'To whom it may concern'. I see.
The school can give you that since you have graduated.

While a certificate may not be ready, that is what they usually give.

Forgive the misunderstanding. Some of us are used to calling it 'To whom' letter, and the transcript the statement of result.

I just did a Google search bro. We are all learning, and that's what makes us humans.

What you seek is a notification of result.
A statement of result is an unofficial form of transcript.
A transcript is a formal or official statement of result.

But some schools still tag notification of result as statement of result.
So you are absolutely correct, just semantics.
