My First Scientific Publication in 2020 Research Summary: Pollution from industries using dyes is increasing at an alarming rate. Azo dyes represent ~68% of dyestuff production globally and are the most widely synthetic colourant released into the environment from textile, leather, printing, cosmetic and paper industries. Azo dyes contain one or more azo linkages in their structure, generally persistent, stable to light, refractory to both anaerobic and aerobic digestions and bio-resistant in the water bodies. Their presence of even trace concentration in the water not only distorts the transparency and aesthetic aspects of the water, but it also presents hazardous effects. We focussed on utilizing sunlight responsive 2D layered double hydroxides as a catalyst to efficiently degrade the dyes from effluents from dye-polluting industries. Results: Under sunlight or simulated light source our catalyst is able to degrade nearly 99% of the dyes within 10-20 mg/L of 100 L polluting water and without light can efficiently degrade the dye by 70% within 40 min of treatment. This will be useful as a low-cost solution for small scale industries. Researcher and scope: Prof. WIP and My Post-Doctoral Student in Canada. Lab grade and industrial-grade 2D LDH was prepared and efficiently used for industrial dye-contaminated wastewaters. Publication: Results have been presented at the 2nd International Conference on Water Problems in the Mediterranean Countries and now published in the Journal of Desalination and Water Treatment. 8 Likes 4 Shares

I am rounding up my PhD program very soon in Geology in a Nigerian University. I am 36 years. In my quest to be an international scholar, I wish to go for a postdoc in any part of the world. I also have a certificate in epidemiology. I have published 6 related papers in my specialty (Environmental Geochemistry) (2 SCOPUS indexed; 1 SCI; 1 ESCI; 2 non-Scopus/SCI). I have submitted 3 manuscripts to three SCI journals special issues. I am the first author in 3 of the articles, 2nd author in 2 and fourth author in 1. For the submitted 3 manuscripts, I am the first author in 2 and 2nd author in 1. My research interests are in Environmental and Medical Geology. My research focus on the impact of geomaterials on human health. If anyone have links to Postdoc opportunities please share. Thank you 5 Likes 3 Shares |

Latest 2020 Scientific Publication (2nd publication in 2020) Summary: Discarded chewing gum was utilized as raw material for decontamination of toxic phenolic compounds commonly used in the herbicide industry, and as a fungicide in a paper and pesticides industries. The research focussed on using waste chewing gum. Until now, no studies reported the application of discarded chewing gum for detoxification of wastewater. Chewing gum is composed of a non-digestible polymer and the discarded chewing gum is a notorious environmental waste which is difficult to deal with. In fact, waste chewing gum is a major and increasingly growing social and environmental issue due to its high stickiness and longer years to biodegrade. Results: The performance of the catalyst-based chewing gum for decontaminating toxic wastewater is high and comparable to other expensive catalysts. Results obtained in this research has just been published in the Chemical Engineering Communications Journal. 5 Likes 2 Shares

Dear. Prof. Wip7, I am elated to have come across this thread and I am very fascinated with your achievements and expertise. Kudos, I am just starting my PhD in France (university of Grenoble Alpes) on scholarship and I will be researching on the synthesis of nanomaterials for petroleum industry application which I have observed is your area. Specifically, I will be studying the rheological behaviour of drilling muds modified with nanomaterials. My background is in Chemical Engineering. I desire to return to Nigeria after my PhD and I will be glad to have a mentor like you with whom I can collaborate and seek advice. With your permission, I will like to send you a PM for further communication. Thank you wip7: 3 Likes |

Compliments of the day to you all. Special thanks to Prof Wip7 for what he's doing here. Your selfless contributions are priceless and they deeply appreciated,Sir! I am in need of 3D resistivity interpretation software, RES3DINV, to analyse my data, but I've not been able to get it up till now. The free version that is available online has limited capability in terms of the number of data points it can process. I wrote to the software manufacturers to help out, but they replied that if the free version can't handle what I want to do, then I should ask my University to come buy the licence as it's obvious I can't afford it as a student. And so that's where I am and my work is suffering delays as a result. Wouldn't know if anyone here has helpful suggestions on how I can get the software. Thanks all! 4 Likes 2 Shares |

wip7:Thank you Prof. Wip7. I am doing my research in the laboratory of Rheology and processes which has expertise in the analysis of complex fluids for different applications. Since am just starting, I am currently reviewing literature. Here in France, there are good research facilities, and you can write your thesis in English. Most of the professors and researchers can speak English. The only down side is you may find it a bit difficult to communicate outside school without French. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Prof. I don't know if you have an idea of a material that doesn't conduct heat in the temperature range of -40 to +250 degrees centigrade and doesn't outgas as well as I have been trying to find one without success. I have attached the kind of material that I am looking for as I have tried using this but can't go above 80 degrees C. I will sincerely appreciate some sort of guide. Regards wip7:

I am running some thermocouple calibration by comparison with a platinum thermometer (PT 100) in a climatic chamber. I actually did the connection as seen in the picture attached, but the set up is placed directly on the plate of the chamber and this is not good for the reference thermometer as the climatic chamber vibrates when in operation, this, in turn, affects the accuracy of the reference thermometer. As a solution, I need material like the one in the previous picture (I don't know what it is called, it comes with my laptop package) that can withstand the temperature changes in the chamber and won't conduct or melt that I can place the set up on. Regards, [, quote the author=wip7 post=85793212] what’s the name of the current material you are using and what’s the exact application for the material you are looking for?[/quote]

wip7: Good day great scholars on here. Dear great Professor Wip7, I seriously find it hard to believe that you are a Nigerian. The way you selflessly give out advices and ideas, coupled with your vast pool knowledge and great achievements, one will absolutely mistake you for a White man. We really appreciate your efforts. God bless more abundantly, Amen. Sir, please I'll need your guidance. I'm a graduate of Petroleum Engineering from a federal university with a 4.19 CGPA of 5.0. I'm currently serving in Lagos (NYSC); I will be passing out by August of this year. I have the intention of applying for fully funded Master's scholarships abroad. Someone advised me to write and publish articles on journals to increase my chances of getting any scholarships. With these, sir, I have some questions as follows: (1) How else do I increase my chances of getting any scholarships abroad? (2) If publishing articles does that, how can I get topics and search for resources for assistance. (3) I have computer programming skills. Is there anyway I can marry it with my studied course. (4) Is there any online programmes you can recommend to me that align with my interest? I'm really sorry about the lengthy write-up. Anticipating your response. Please advice from everyone is welcome. |

If STEM courses are now seen as the master of all, what then is the hope of those of us in the management science? I have Bachelors degree in Business Education from OOU and will be completing my Masters degree in Business Education from TASUED this year. My plan is to proceed for my Phd in Business Education outside Nigeria but i am worried by the fact that stem courses r taking Charge of the Educational and occupational sector. Therefore, I am thinking of how to coin out topic that can embrace entrepreneurship into STEM |

I did Master's in Energy and Petroleum Economics (Non Thesis based); with a project on An analysis of the demand and supply of petroleum products and their impacts on Nigeria Economy. I am interested in Phd abroad - Candan, USA or UK. I have difficulty with appealing project topic. I am counting on your experience to help me on this Prof. It could be within the area of Public policy, Resources Management, Environmental management, Oil and Gas Management, Economics of the Environment and Economic Development. |
