The first time, I got a request from one of those estates on Lekki-Epe Expressway. Google maps said I should pass one street like that, connect with Silverbird Road and enter the estate from Silverbird Road. That was how I put my head.

It was rainy season, so there were puddles of water everywhere. Since its Lekki, before I put the car in a puddle, I come down and measure the depth of the puddle. I had a special dip stick I use. Come and see people staring at this emergency surveyor. The road was muddy too, so it was a constant battle not to sink the car in the mud. In fact, there was a specific instance when the car glided out of control and the bumper hit a fence!

People were just staring at me like "Where is this Oga going?"

Last last, I now got to one major puddle. The guys around warned me - "Oga, moto no dey pass dat place wey you wan enter. Your moto go sink." Me, stubborn Surveyor, came down with my stick to check how far. The major puddle swallowed the whole stick. The stick was the height of the car's window level. There was no way around the major puddle, this was last bus stop for me.

I looked around and suddenly realized that the fence I hit earlier was actually the flood barrier to the sea! The sea was not more than 50m away from where I was. See the gate of the estate I was going to in front of me. Only the puddle separated me from Silverbird Road.

I asked the people around how to get to the estate, they told me to go back to the express and turnaround into Silverbird Road. I didn't like how that sounded.

I called rider and told him where I was. He had to come meet me there.

You're lucky.

Some will just cancel and block your line

Picked this man at lekki phase 1 going to the airport, the way he yelled at his maid self send a quick shiver into me. He got into the car and ask me to speed up, I was doing 120 on 3MB, yet he wasn't satisfy with the speed, he keep checking the map and gave up when he saw traffic ard gbagada, so he ask me to take charge and in tune to pls my new Oga, I decided to use the Maryland turn to ojota, only to turn at the 1st ikorodu rd I sighted ard motorways that lead to Ketu, to make it worst I end up finding my self on the last lane where deh use to pack market stuffs at ketu road. The man jejely drop without saying a word grin I didn't even bother asking him for money, then it was all about star for me and not getting block for such calamity, deep within I was just praying he doesn't report me.

I took one wicked man before and he said he has never rated any driver 5 stars before, its 3 downwards. and I'm the first to get 5stars. said no one is perfect. I enlightened him on how anything less than 5 stars affect drivers rating, it's either u rate or ignore.

Good questions.

The fare this morning was 1300, he said since it's an offline trip and I wont be charged commission by bolt that it should be lesser.

About punctuality, he didn't take up to 2 minutes after I called him that I've arrived before he showed up.

Even if I consider the morning trip, I cant do the evening trip.
It won't pay you, don't do it

from my view, it can't work, don't crack ur head over nothing. How much is she going to pay a driver with her own car? One of the benefit of this job, is you being able to determine your movement... Now u r constrain to wake 5am and even if you have a sweet trip around 3/30pm, your movement have to hover around island, forgotten you can b at still for 1hrs and be getting 500 naira trips cos you can't leave. Who is going to be responsible for tolls? What happens on days you have to visit the mech? What happens on your rest day? You can give it a try tough, maybe this path may lead to others, but believe me, you r going to do lots of stop over and freebies.
She will pay driver monthly, buy AT LEAST 1k fuel daily and still fix and service her car

Bolt office is at Surulere- Razak Balogun street, off Adeniran Ogunsanya.
You can do your inspection and training there. Go with your 2k for inspection and some amount for training

Uber's office is inside Maryland mall. I can't remember their inspection centres. But the training is inside the mall

Elders in the house, help me reason this matter.

I picked a rider this morning around 6am from Chevy View Estate on Chevron drive. He was going to Eko Hotel, mid way through the trip he asked if I stay around, I said Yes.

He wants me to pick him every morning at 6am from his house and 5pm at his office which is beside Eko hotel.

He wants to pay 2500 per day but payment will be monthly which is 50,000.

I am still considering the offer as I don't want to be committed to anybody, I hardly work during the evening rush hour.

P.s I stay at Ajah

My honest advice. This cant work.
A client wanted me to be picking kids from school in ilupeju, just a 15mins drive home. even tho I stay around there. We agreed on 30k per month.
Did it for 2 days and Its not worth it. Those 2days I blew empty from ajah to there school.
I just opted out.

Whats the best way to have handled this situation.
Rider made an order to destination 'farawa' we reached the exit route from the express and she said its still ahead. I continued speeding for about 10 more minutes with no end in sight and she continued saying her destination is at the front, while we have passed her initial destination by miles.
She then said she doesn't know the place. I canceled the ride and requested for price review. She asked for the correct destination and we were referred back to the earlier place she ordered for. I asked her to reorder so we can go back to the place. She refused and said that she is getting down there to find her way on her own.
How best to handle such situations?

I just started driving with bolt less than 1 month and I'm already on 4.5 stars. I've never had a bad trip, a customer told me he rated me 4 stars cos he hated the trip cos of traffic and many diversions and not my driving. I'm thinking of registering with uber and opay. Bolt wahala too much yet the money is not even encouraging.

I am not going ahead with the offer. He said the guy that was picking him before had the car collected from in December as he wasn't remitting money to the owner even after he helped him pay twice.

I wonder why.

The fact you even consideted it means you're a biggie man. Boss how far now?

According to him, he has no problem if he the 'driver' cant make it for the 5pm pick up, he only wants to be informed beforehand at least a text around 4pm to notify him of unavailability.
He seems to be in dare need of the service but what is offering is not in any way tempting at all. Such deal will have to come with a very good tempting offer attached not him informing you of how beneficial it be to you since you won’t be charged commissions.

As a matter of fact, off trips has its own downsides, like if a rider is caught/arrested with some illicit or criminal related issue while on trip you the driver conveying that rider can be exonerated if you’re in a trip but OYO is the case if it’s an offline trip. So one needs to be careful.

I know of one guy that always carries an elderly man around like 4-5x weekly and after dropping this man at his residence baba pays the guy 15k. The baba lives around Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja. Very rich man with all his children abroad. Baba has fleets of car in his compound but doesn’t want to stress himself. Baba has money but doesn’t have what to do with it.

So guyman give him your bill 5k/trip and it should be PAYG, simple he either takes it or leave it.

If he is a nice man why didn’t he buy a car for the former driver and then they strike a deal or better still offer the guy a job since he has a car.

Or better still recommend ”dryva” to him it’s 5k/day
Dryva is a platform like Uber/bolt but in this case your car will be used for the journey. So let him subscribe to that since it falls within his budget.

My two cent
