Please i need advice, is Honda accord 2004 v4 at 700k a good car to buy for a young guy to cruise around, the car is a very neat ride, with no issues as the owner is a young navy guy, please i want to know if it's a good choice, as I do not have enough money to buy big cars, my only fear is the normal k leg breaking problem, please advisa asap as I might buy it this week.. |

joungblood: Get a competent mech to inspect it. Verify the documents Enjoy your ride. You have my approval. As long as you service the car (even the legs) with the right parts, you are good to go. Trust me when I say that car drives better than Toyota Camry of same year 2 Likes |

FreeConCiencE: Put your key in the ignition and turn it to position one (the setting right before starting the car). Quickly push and hold the odometer button on your dashboard, then turn your key to position two. Continue to hold the odometer button for about 10 seconds. The car maintenance required indicator light should start to flash, and you may hear a beeping. After that, the light should go out. Once it’s off, let go of the odometer button, and turn the key to start your car. The light should be off once your Camry starts. If it’s still on, repeat this process once or twice more to turn it off. 2 Likes |

Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by princevih(m): 11:01pm On Jan 06, 2020 |
Please kindly do an analytical comparison between this 3 cars 06 KIA rio, 06 picanto and golf 3 based on the grounds of 1. Fuel economy 2. Ease of maintenance 3. Available of parts and good technician 4. Durability (The strength to cope with everyday driving) Note; it is to be used for taxi in the city. Thanks Cc; nurey, HeavenlyBang, GAZZUZZ |

Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by tosin2013: 7:03am On Jan 07, 2020 |
nurey: why is this sir? can you expantiate? and what do you mean buy other engine variants? I am asking cos i just bought a 2006 xc90 . I am not sure about the engine variant |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 7:27am On Jan 07, 2020 |
tosin2013: The T6 is not unreliable. Volvo mated a transmission that could not handle the torque from the engine, leading to early gearbox failures. The 3.2l engine used from 07 up was designed to replace it as it was a ford engine anyway. Other than this your only concern here in Naija is that T6 parts are more expensive. |

Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 7:33am On Jan 07, 2020 |
princevih: picanto is the best in fuel economy but it is been phased out, your best bet is the Kia Rio reasons are 1. More recent than the golf 3, so you won't have parts breakdown frequently 2. Better modern design than golf3 3. Engine is shared by couple of Kia and Hyundai vehicles so parts would always be readily available though may cost more than golf3 parts. 4. You won't be known for driving a taxi around 5. it is as fuel efficient as the golf3 with 1.4L Engine so good fuel economy is assured. 6. Technicians abound just like any other car |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by Philadelphia: 10:53am On Jan 07, 2020 |
nurey: The others are valid points. With that, Golf 3 is still his best bet. Add resale value to his requirements and Golf 3 comes first by miles. |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 1:17pm On Jan 07, 2020 |
Philadelphia: Resale value golf 3, how much is tokunbo golf3 and how much is naija used? Kia Rio is an Uber standard vehicle, something a golf 4 cannot boost of, so don't expect the golf 3 to have a better resale value than Kia Rio. But resale price yes, the golf 3 is cheap can be had for 300k so expected to be cheaper to acquire. |

nurey: Don't let your hate cloud your judgement, I only posted the screenshot cos that's the only language you probably understand. Pls try and get your hands on the 3.2l engine and open it up properly, there's nothing Ford about that engine, unlike the V8 which is a pure Yamaha engine. Maybe you'll now say, you're not a mechanic

Thanks for the reply. in any case i need a volvo expert to look at my car. the engine snapped while driving some days ago. i also noticed a strong smell of wires burning in the he engine bay but i could detect the source. i just parked the car jejely cos i dont want any story. i ve bought another belt but i believe one of the rotors ( ? compressor rotor) is bad. Any ideas from the gurus in the house? |

Guys, a little help here. There are two types of Civics popularly seen on Nigerian roads (pix below). I see more of the first though. I know one is European and the other is Asia. Not sure where I heard that from. But then I also heard one is better than the other. Please, aside from the design and region are there differences when it comes to durability, fuel economy, maintenance? Which do you recommend? Thanks guys
|
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 6:40am On Jan 09, 2020 |
dljbd1: 1st pix is Asian, bought brand-new in Nigeria 2nd pix is North America bought as tokunbo in Nigeria. Parts availability like I heard for the 1st is available but for the 2nd scarce I doubt if it's true because both are same biscuit in different nylon. |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by dljbd1(m): 8:24am On Jan 09, 2020 |
nurey: Thanks man. The 2nd has a more attractive exterior IMO. But will do more research on their parts availability and pick the one that's best. Will most likely go for the first cos I think it's more common on the road. Thanks once again. |
