Timely and expected attack from Iran.

Trump made them look like cowards, and this retaliation (even if much damage wasn't done), would help save their face a bit.

With this attack, Iranians feel that they've been avenged of their murdered General, and the US doesn't lose much either. More like a win-win for everyone.

I said that the attack was 'timely' because Iran really didn't intend to kill any US citizen (following the threats from Trump). Killing a citizen of the US would have stretched the matter much further and, no matter how you try to look at it, Iran lacks the military might to fight the US in any way; and therefore, will rather push money into their crawling economy than spend more money trying to be at war with a world power.

So, it's not a question of how much damage was done to the US, what matters is that they had their revenge (anyhow), and everyone is comfortable with it.

Iran has sent a message to the US and it's allies that their missiles can evade the US "interceptors" system after all, and this should call for worry from all involved.

While I'm not in support of Iran and their shenanigans, I just can't understand what people who are mostly ignorant, are masturbating about and would believe this is a battle between Christianity and Islam, or good and bad.

If you are one of those who think this is a war of Good vs. Evil and not some old age long bully cum supremacy battle then you need to read up some more, listen to more intellectuals speak, and be quiet while at it.

I was telling someone yesterday that Trump has set a very very bad precedent of assassinating a sovereign nation's Rep. Military/Civilian in a non-war situation and that with time, this will become a norm and guess who'd be crying terrorists by then?

The person I was having this discussion with had already gone all sentimental and cussing as if we were both Iranian and American respectively. To him, Trump was God sent to wipe out the useless Iran who do not want Christians to live, and are seeking to obliterate Israel "God's own people" and by extension his own people because he is a Christian. Little did my guy know that a typical orthodox Jew doesn't see him (a black man) as a human being and would have no problems crucifying him to the stakes, just as they did Jesus, neither are the streets of Saudi (America's strongest ally in the region) littered with Churches.

If indeed America feels Iraq is oppressive or a threat to other religions/world, what is not oppressive in Saudi Arabia, a country that would lure a journalist citizen to it's embassy, murder him, and have his body chopped up based on orders from above.

No missile defense system are currently deployed in those bases, only radars which did quite a nice job warning the base before time ( those missiles are relatively slow). Deploying a defense system can be seen as a preparation for war and arouse tensions unless of course the Iraqi government makes purchase which is not quite as easy as having enough money to spend.
Pffff! Iran only successfully displayed how far they have to go to start making high precision missiles. Even Israeli defense would dust those missiles like they are no threat on a busy day. I can only imagine their midrange ballistic missiles will even be poorer in general specifications.
