gradual process and lagos looks worse than it was in the 70s? in the time you are talking about Dubai have turned themeselves from an unknown outpost to one of the most modern cities in the world.

We too celebrate mediocrity in Nigeria

This is what I mean. I've also noticed a gradual deterioration in the quality of buildings and development project being provided to Nigerians by Governors. I lay the blame on a lowering of expectation by Nigerian public, that from wanting to be like Dubai, Hong Kong, Beijing, New York and London, now want to be like Accra and Kigali. Your state leaders, no longer pressured by your former high expectations are now relaxedly providing you with Accra and Kigali standards while pocketing the excess in change from fiancé government provided for Dubi standards.

Moral of story, stop boasting of crappy African capitals and instead demand the World's best from your leaders grin

Ordered streets and excellent buildings are simple to provide. Great living spaces are not beyond Nigeria, even the Greeks thousands of years ago build great buildings and ordered cities. Industrialisation, sending rockets to the moon is not beyond Nigeria and yet these are way more difficult than town planning. Nigerians are aiming too low so leaders are unbothered.

I'm disappointed the 'green estate' is not somewhat off the grid. They could have AT LEAST fixed solar panels & wired it into the houses. And then those dt want to activate buy their own inverters.

Everyone in Nigeria needs to use solar panels in their homes. When people talk about Nepa taking light, I just can't relate. cool

youve clearly accepted low standards from your public officials, even making excusues for mediocrity. therefore there isnt anything I can say that will make any difference, we will just be going back and forth.
constructive criticism is the way to go, you must not always condemn. Praise when the man deserves it, and criticize when due

I'm not ungrateful, neither am I easily impressed ... I just believe this is NOT I'd call a fully efficient green, eco-friendly estate. Here are my reasons why...

1. The estate does not generate its own electricity through solar or wind energy (You can clearly see the overheard electric wires flying around the estate in the first picture. Try googling eco-friendly or green neighbourhoods around the world and see if they have these). Wind and solar energy can be harnessed in generating electricity for the estate. There are places that have solar farms or plants. If the fear is that it cannot generate enough watts to power the estate, then it can be complemented with underground electrical wiring system, so the estate can switch between, depending on the circumstances. The presence of those overhead wiring cables defaces the estate and cancels any idea of the estate being green and eco-friendly.

2. Another thing that should make the estate stand out as an eco-friendly one is the level of green infrastructure being implemented. Planting of trees and gardens should be the major aim of the estate. In the 2nd picture, I see where granite is poured where there's neither a walkway or a road. That is NOT how a green and eco-friendly neighbourhood runs ... That portion of land could have been landscaped into a garden, or just plant trees. You only use granite on the pavements, drainages, roads and walkways.

3. Even if the building design is "eco-friendly", as long as there's no centralized transport system around the estate and everyone uses their cars and personal generators, the idea of the estate being green and eco-friendly is defeated. If you have granite everywhere in the estate instead of gardens and trees, overhead NEPA wires instead of wind/solar energy complemented with underground wiring system and everyone still using their personal cars and generators, what is now the purpose of the estate being " green and eco-friendly"?

Before you rush off. Can one utilize a solar setup in a mansion? I mean like an over 20 room edifice.

Lagos State : The State of firsts.

God bless Lagos state.

God bless Nigeria.
Oga calm down. Cross River state had this one house one tree policy since 2003 that's why you find most houses with trees and 98% percent of streets and major roads with trees. Just a correction.

20 room edifice? Even billionaires dont build dt. Is it a hotel or a home?
If u have the money to build dt, then getting a solar panel system that covers the whole thing should be possible.

What is 'green' about building bungalows when the housing deficit is astronomical and land cost is beyond the reach of the average working class

And it’s residents will be forced to ON their generators every night cos there’s no power supply. And that alone cause more pollution that the project was intended to reduce grin grin grin

I was expecting it to have some self sustaining power supply, outside of the unreliable national grid.

Sigh...

Question: Why are most nations way ahead of Nigeria developmentally and otherwise??!

Answer: They elect leaders based on integrity, leadership intelligence and proven character regardless of party affiliations!

''Most nations'' are not ''way ahead of Nigeria developmentally and otherwise''.

The problem is you are ignorant of the world around you, and ''most nations'' in your colonised head, means Western Europe, and America, which comprise less than 20% of the world population.

''Most nations'' are DEVELOPING COUNTRIES JUST LIKE NIGERIA. And Nigeria is a lot better than ''most of them''. If you disagree, go spend a week in Pakistan or Lesotho, or Guatemala, or Bangladesh, or Colombia, or Sri Lanka, or Yemen, or El Salvador, or Mali, or Uganda, or Sierra Leone, or Honduras, or Haiti, and tell us what ya think.

It is this dumb mentality that everywhere outside Nigeria is ''better'' that has led many of you into slavery in Libya. Keep hating yourselves and being stupid.

Your insults and misplaced sycophancy are lost on me, per usual...

Replace "most" with "few" (since you wish to indulge in pedantry), the thrust of my response to your fellow sycophant still stands...

This is a new Year, yet most of you still can't be civil in a simple discourse. It really is pitiable!!!
