I traveled in July/August 2019 with a passport that would expire in October, 2019. No issues going in and out. I was still stamped in for 6months. It is advisable to renew still.

Unlikely immigration/airline would allow you board on the nigerian side, the americans rarely start flipping tru your passport to check expiry.

The safest option is to go and renew your passport, and travel with both passport, ie new + about to expire PP

You question shows intent for your B1/B2.

You cannot possibly want to find "a" conference online, and just "register" for it.
Then approach the embassy for a visa in order to be able to travel to attend that conference you found online.
You are supposed to have a need (conference) before requiring a visa.
But you want a visa, and need a conference to justify the visa application.

ICYMI, conference is the worst reason right now to state at US embassy in NGA for visa application. Refusal has a probability of 94.9%.

Finally, there is no "website" that has conferences listed. Most conferences own their own online presence.
Eventbrite and co may have a list of events (which includes conferences and workshops) holding.

Thanks. But I was denied the first time I applied last year. The university had to postpone the event coz many other speakers were denied. They have reissued another iv letter and sent names to the embassy. Now what do you think?

You seems to be putting weight behind who’s inviting you! Don’t worry about that,the VO’s has very little interest in it! YOU are the one they’re interested in,You are the one they want to assess and see if they could trust you with their visa! Start evaluating yourself sincerely and have convincing answers to all possible questions the VO’s will be asking!

I doubt you will listen to good advice... but let me just say, if you continue down this road, you will surely get caught at your interview. It will be noted on your travel record, then you’ll come back here asking why they keep denying your visa despite all your fasting and prayer.

Sometimes some people don't have anyone in the US to invite them. We do not know the posters economic situation. I know several people whose first trip to the US was for a conference and till now i have built friendships with them. I once went for a conference through my job in California and i was surprised at how many African international attendees had only come to the US for the first time for the exhibition.

He has not stated that he is trying to abscond. He only asked a question. Let the VO officer who will evaluate his situation be the one to determine his eligibility.

You do not necessarily need an invite to VISIT the USA. Even as a first timer.

You cannot search for a random conference in order to present at your visa interview and it doesn't seem suspect.

I have a friend who registered for OTC and stated her real profession (Pharmacist) at her interview. She has been denied again because of that misrepresentation by an Agent. The other applications were DIY, but that earlier snafu is still a problem.

Your job was your link to the California conference you attended.
S/He is looking for any conference to register for.
That's the difference.

So how will this question be answered?
"What do you want to go to the USA?"

Answer will be to attend XYZ conference or tourist purposes?

Lelekey, there is nothing wrong in going for a conference in the USA. I am not critical of your question, and did point you to Eventbrite. Someone pointed you to 10times and allconferences... Places you will find conferences.

You are right. Usually going to the REAL conference, the applicant knows his/her own profession field, the institutions giving this kind of conference and even has his/hers employer recommending him/her to go to the conference and paying his/her expenses for to have more qualified employee or administrator.

Yes. I agree with you. Undocumented immigrants, illegals are having a very hard life here and very few get better. It's wasting maybe all life.

Huh....what is wrong with those people.

Why are they choosing to remain undocumented/illegal immigrants when there are a number of loop-holes the US immigration law has with ways they can change their illegal status to become legal.

Getting married to a US citizen is one way...as well as other ways if they are ready to put in the effort.

Given that passports are sent here: Victoria Island - Lagos DHL Plot 230 Muri Okunola Street Victoria Island, Lagos. Applicant did not make any arrangement with DHL before leaving Lagos.

You have 30 days to go pick it up since you didn't make any pick up arrangement, especially if there's no designated DHL office working with them in your home state. Seems there's none in the South East oh! PH and Benin have one each
