Bacteriologist:

The discovery of planets are not evidence of intelligent design. If anything it points to the fact that planets are formed and exist randomly and those that exist in certain habitable zones and contain building blocks of life in sufficient quantity are those capable of supporting life.

And why would an intelligent designer be creating universes? According to the Bible, God has created everything. So you are contradicting your own belief when you say that God is still creating new universes.

The Christian Faith admits that the other forms of life that exist are not detectable by any physical means. That means that your faith says that life that exist is not bound by the laws of nature and so they cannot be carbon-based life. Because carbon based life is detectable.
So your premise is wrong.

Until you can show me that the Bible specifically stated that other planets did exist and that life could and indeed exist on these planets.

Wrong. Man is not in control of anything except his own life. Heck, we can't even control our own lives that is why we have accidental deaths and we all make silly mistakes virtually every day.

The earth can and will do fine without man. If anything, we are bad "controllers" who have only inflicted damage after damage to the planet.

Religious semantics. Enjoy.

You took your time to criticize this religion without making any point at all.

His premise is flawed ab initio..

If the Lens in the Telescope needs light to transmit an image of the Planet,it does not have to wait for another 100 years for the light..

The light of the prior 100 years is ALREADY being reflected on the lenses TODAY.

So it's even possible that that planet doesn't exist anymore. Since we are seeing a reflection that began it's journey several billion years ago. It's also possible that all these planets that are several hundred light years away which is claimed to posses some elements that supports life do not even exist anymore. Leaving Earth as the young planet that can support life.

Planets don't just disappear..

If it is that easy for planets to cease their existence..

Why is Earth still existing?

And who told you the Earth is younger than them?

The reflection did NOT begin its journey several billion years ago.. grin

It's journey started 100 years ago.. shocked

It took the reflection 100 years, moving at the speed of light to reach the Telescope..

Relax. We are saying the same thing. I said "several billion years ago " I didn't say "several billion LIGHT years ago"

Earth will still disappear or die like every other uninhabitable planets in our solar system.

Those planets are most likely dead by now and so all other planets so far from earth (in terms of light years o)

Sorry, but either you are confused about the meaning of light years or I fail to understand how being very far away means that they are most likely dead by now?

Either way,we are CERTAINLY NOT saying the same thing..

You claimed the reflection started its journey BILLIONS OF YEARS AGO..

I said, the reflection started its journey,ONE HUNDRED YEARS AGO..

The two statements are certainly not the same thing..

By the time they get there, the planet might no longer be in existence. It took 100 light years for the light from the planet to be caught by the satellite. So whatever the NASA scientists are seeing now is definitely 100 light years in the past or 137,000 years ago.

Thinking about space will give you existential crisis. grin
that is amazing

reading about space will humble you lol.
If you raise your thumb towards the sky, the patch of sky that your thumb covers contains over 10,000 galaxies.
Not planets, GALAXIES.
Our planet is in the milky way galaxy and the milky way contains over 100 billion planets. Multiply that by 10,000.
That's the number of planets in that patch of sky that your thumb covered.

After reading this, do you think we're still alone in this universe?

If you insist the reflection started it's journey one hundred years ago then there's certainly no point engaging you because you obviously didn't read the post.

cheesy

REFLECTION=LIGHT =100 YEARS JOURNEY=100 LIGHT YEARS

Like I said, you don't understand the concept of Light Years and that is where you are getting yourself confused..

Let me break it down to where you may understand..

For the REFLECTION(LIGHT) from this planet to get to the Telescopes,it takes it 100 years of journey through space..

In 100 years of journeying through space, this reflection (LIGHT) covers billions of miles of space to get to its destination..

The REFLECTION IS LIGHT and that means that it is already moving at the speed of light and at the speed of light it only takes it 100 years to cover the said distance..grin

If you can't still understand the concept, then am sorry I can't help you further..

But the reflection DID NOT travel BILLIONS OF YEARS,because it is LIGHT and already moving at the maximum speed (SPEED OF LIGHT)and at that speed it takes it ONLY 100 years to complete the journey. shocked

Understand?

I understand if it's all confusing..grin

Start by trying to appreciate what 1 LIGHT YEAR means and maybe you will start to understand..

Like if the said planet is 1 LIGHT YEAR away, what do you understand by that?

Hint: A light year is a measure of distance, not time..

1 LIGHT YEAR =5.88 TRILLION MILES..
