Oshoala starting the new year with a new hair color grin

Highlight of her match today. She came off the bench so most her part is at the end

Asisat Oshoala is Currently the Best in Nigeria and Africa as a whole as far as women football is concern...

What you should say is that she's one of Barcelona Best player, If you watch their marches on regular basis you will understand. There are Graham Hansen, Jennifer Hermaso, Lieke Martens also in the team.

Thanks so much... Exactly what I mean!

Just oshoala doing her things

Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by naptu2: 5:25am On Jan 06, 2020
This isn't just about Oshoala. Many Barca fans say that Barca's best players are foreigners. This includes Lieke Martens, Caroline Graham Hansen, Kheira Hamraoui and Asisat Oshoala. However, they complain that the coach often benches these players in favour of the Spanish players like Mariona and Jenni. These are not Nigerians complaining. They are Barca fans from all over.

Super Falcon Onome Ebi committed to Henan Huishang FC and will remain in China

Jan 6, 2020 1:19 AM

Super Falcon Onome Ebi has rebuffed all offers from Europe and the US and has announced she will remain with her Chinese club Henan Huishang FC.

The 36-year-old Nigerian star who became the first African to play in five World Cup tournaments in 2019 [male or female], signed for the club in February 2018 shared:

"China is super good. I'm still in China and will not be heading anywhere else. I've signed a new contract so I will remain at the same team as I love it here."

Speaking on why the Super Falcons did not make it to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics the sublime defender said:

"The change of captaincy has nothing to do with us not qualifying for the Olympics. Maybe a change of coaches contributed because the previous coach Thomas Dennerby knew what he wanted and had worked with the players. The change of coaches two weeks to the qualifiers was a huge blow. It feels bad because we've not qualified for like two Olympics so we focused on qualifying for this year's edition but that's football, you win some, you lose some,"

"I've been asked when I will retire but as long as I'm still giving value to the team, retirement is not on the agenda for now.

"We had up to six good defenders in the Nigerian league who were good covers for the foreign-based players. We have to take care of our league to make it standard," Ebi stressed.

We wish her continued success and maybe even a sixth World Cup in the making.

As we say in Nigeria "Nne carry go!"

Breaking: Oshoala named CAF player of the year for the 4th time

Jan 7, 2020 9:33 PM

Asisat Oshoala has won 2019 African Women's player of the year award. This is the fourth time she is winning the award and has equalled Perpetua Nkwocha's record of winning it four times.

She has equalled Pepetua Nkwocha's record of four awards after a scintillating season for FC Barcelona.

The former Arsenal and Liverpool player who now plays for Barcelona had a stellar year. She joined Barcelona from Dalian Quanjin of China and soon made her mark for the team. She made history by becoming the first African woman to play in a champions league final and she scored Barcelona's only goal in their 4-1 loss to Lyon. Oshoala came on as a substitute and got the consolation goal for Barcelona. She scored a goal at the world cup and that solitary strike earned her a nomination for best for goal of the tournament award. She won the Copa Catalunya, Spanish Cup semi-final, league runner up, 15 goals for Barcelona in 19 games. Champions League runner up.

She has scored 19 goals in 18 games for Barcelona and also scored for Nigeria at the world cup.

NFF President, Amaju Pinnick, received the award on behalf of Oshoala

Chikwelu: Nigerian midfielder joins Spanish side Madrid
Last updated 12 minutes ago

The 31-year-old midfielder has completed her move to the Spanish top-flight after agreeing on terms with the Madrid based outfit
Rita Chikwelu has joined Spanish Primera Iberdrola club Madrid from Swedish Damallsvenskan side Kristianstads for the remainder of the 2019-20 season, Goal can exclusively report.

The Nigeria international spent the last three seasons with the Swedish top-flight outfit, scoring 12 goals in 64 outings and helped them finish as 2019 Swedish Women's Cup runners-up.

Chikwelu starred in Nigeria's 2018 Africa Women's Cup of Nations triumph and at the 2019 Women's World Cup in France, where the country reached the knockout stage for the first time since 1999.

Following her arrival on Thursday, Oscar Farnadez will be counting on her experience to revive the team's dwindling fortunes in the second stanza after the Nigerian's successful medical.

The 31-year-old, previously played for FC United, scoring 28 goals, including 22 to finish as the Finnish Naisten Liiga topscorer in 2009 and scored 16 goals in 141 matches for Sweden side Umea.

At Madrid, Chikwelu will reunite with her compatriot Chidinma Okeke, who joined last summer but was out for at least six months due to a knee injury suffered last October.

She will also become the seventh Nigerian to be plying their trade in Spain following the earlier arrival of Asisat Oshoala, Charity Adule, Alice Ogebe, Peace Efih, Chidinma Okeke and Osinachi Ohale.

Chikwelu is expected to make her debut against Ogebe's Real Betis on Sunday. She is needed to play a key role for 14th placed Madri to avoid relegation from the top-flight at the end of the season.

WAFU Women’s Cup: Tournament get New Date

16th January 2020

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Sports Writer, kick442.com-Nigeria

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has announced 25 February-7 March 2020 as the date to host the much awaited West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Women’s Cup which was postponed last year.

Bo and Makeni, the second and third largest cities in Sierra Leone, have been confirmed by the SLFA as the two venues for the competition. Both cities boast of stadia with seating capacities of 10,000 and 25,000 spectators respectively.

Eleven other nations will travel to Sierra Leone to compete for the championship.
The tournament was initially scheduled for 13-22 December 2019, but was postponed by WAFU “due to logistical concerns”.
And, as part of the build up to the competition Liberia Women’s Team drew 2-2 with their Sierra Leone counterparts in Makeni in a tournament during the festive month of December.
