A shithole Islamic backward country wanting to fight the USA. Thank God for your 'initial gragra' which ended in wasting your missiles. See your loss: 80+ persons on board - Iranians. 60+ persons on board - Iranians who hold Canadian Passports. Islamic education = Illiteracy 5 Likes 1 Share |

Typically Nigerian, reacting without analysing the situation. What led to the strike, why would a plane be flying into Iran in the midst of tension? At a time when Troops were withdrawing from the middle East and the whole world was hoping there wouldn't be a war, an Ukrainian plane decides to fly into Iran, there is more to this than meets the eye. I don't believe in coincidences, proper investigation should be carried out. Although Iran already scored an own goal by not admitting earlier, but they have apologized which is brave. H. W. Bush never apologized after the US shot down an Iranian plane in 1988 2 Likes 1 Share |

yeyeosoronga: That's not true. Iran is friendly to outsiders so long as you habor no intention to sabotage or spy on its government and people. Iran has a lot of UNESCO cultural sites that tourists from all over the world visit. There are over 2 million Iranian-Americans living in America and some of them shuttle between the two countries regularly. The Iranian government does business with lots of European countries. If not for the Iranian revolutions that brought those religious fanatics into power, the Iranian society and it's citizens are pretty liberal compared to others in the region. Iranians are majority Persian by language and tribe(60%) while the Kurds, Turks, Uzbeks, Afghanistan, Armenia make up the rest. In fact, in the middle East, they are known to prosper in commerce and industry. Some of the most brilliant tech entrepreneur in the US are of Iranian heritage. |

persius555: I never mentioned Iran is unfriendly. One of the nicest persons that i respect so much is from Iraq. I also have a good friend from Afghanistan. It still doesn't make their countries safe to visit, especially for those with no knowledge about the culture or the people( i.e if you don't have your origin from there). Yes, majority of those who travel to Iran are of Iranian heritage which is a key point in this case. Majority of those killed except for a few of the airline staff were of Iranian ancestory. The so called Canadians on the plane had dual nationality because of their ancestry. Most I'm sure went to visit family/went for weddings or other functions in their country of origin before they were murdered by their country. Those who will mourn them the most/ feel the impact of their deaths the most are their Iranian families. Perhaps a few good friends in Canada Nobody is disputing Iranians can be brilliant in technology, (as can Nigerians or any other country under the right conducive environment.) However, you mentioned they are US citizens of Iranian heritage. How has that helped Iran in this case? Is it the brilliant US trained Iranians manning their rockets in Iran? For example while Somalians may lay claim to the ancestry of Mo Farah (who was initially even raised in Somalia before relocating), his Olympic records has no benefit to them whatsoever but only only Britain. Fog of war. It happens. Hundreds, maybe thousands have been killed by US drone strikes, in which operstors have misidentified targets, talk of in the heat of an "imminent" (see what I did there ) conflict with a superpower. I expect Iran to pay full compensation to Canada, Ukraine and other nations who lost citizens. It is difficult to know if Iranian discontent is widespread because of disinformation. My feeling is that Iran is somewhat like Turkey ; the urban populace want to reassimilate into the global community and want regime change whilst the countryside is deeply conservative and predominantly support the regime. For sure, lots of covert action going on behind the scenes. |

Openbusiness:in 1988 a US navy ship mistook an Iranian passenger plane as a fighter jet and shot it down. 1986 a Russian surface to air missile mistakenly brought down a South Korean passenger plane. In 2014 a Russian surface to air missile mistook a Malaysian plane with many Dutch passengers as a Ukrainian fighter jet and brought it down...You should remember the last one for it wasn't long ago. A fighter jet and a passenger plane do have different heat signature but might not appear different in a radar. They use Altitude and speed to differentiate them. There is always an outside chance that these mistake do happen. They can be mistaken and it also depends on how advance the radar system is. In the heat and overzealousness anything can happen. Some few years ago a US fighter plane mistakenly drop bombs on US soldiers in Afghanistan in daylight... My point is no matter how advance your tech is, stupid errors still occur 2 Likes |
