Re: Reno Omokri Defends Arabic On Naira Note On His Social Media Page by Christafarian(m): 4:23pm On Jan 13, 2020 |
itsme01:The matter before the Court is simply to call for the interpretation of the provisions of the Constitution of the FRN; and for an inquiry into the question of whether or not the Arabic is an official language in Nigeria. It is that simple. You people, in advancing your arguments or opinions, must not read religious meaning into the suit currently pending before the Federal High Court, lest your arguments become prone to mere sentiments and emotions devoid of sound reason & logic. IT IS NOT A MUSLIM-CHRISTIAN FACE OFF! |

are we saying we should also do away with the Arabic numerals. I know many of you are not aware that the numerals we use today are of Arabic origins |
Re: Reno Omokri Defends Arabic On Naira Note On His Social Media Page by Christafarian(m): 4:38pm On Jan 13, 2020 |
onpoint69:There we go again. Mr. omni-know-it-all Omokri relied on HISTORY as the basis of his position on the issue without recourse to the fact that as at 1912, literacy level was extremely low and the society, being an organic one, had evolved overtime. Little wonder then that our Constitution which is the supreme law of our land has undergone and is undergoing rigorous amendments in order to reflect modern day legal, socio-legal, and economic realities. Oga, don't pander to Mr. Omokri's illogical & hypocrytical argument by resorting to ORIGIN as the basis of your own question or position. The Nigerian Flag, The Nigerian Army as well as the Naira note are all OFFICIAL emblems of our country's identity and corporate existence. The real question to be answered in relation to the suit is, IS THE ARABIC LANGUAGE OUR OFFICIAL LANGUAGE IN NIGERIA? |

I don't care if they use Arabic or not. That won't help the economy. But, Reno should ask himself if a currency note design is dynamic or static. |

Areaboy2: You've spoken well with that great sense of humour . Anyone who has been to the north knows they nearly don't speak English. And even if they are not still good with the Arabic (someone said it is still interpreted to them), we can all agree that it is the only nearest language to their understanding while bearing in mind that the northerners owned and still own this country and the Arabic inscriptions were made on the notes in that regard. |

Re: Reno Omokri Defends Arabic On Naira Note On His Social Media Page by saajus: 7:55pm On Jan 13, 2020 |
Dynamic means something that is changing and static means something that is not changing. The event Reno described has changed, many Northerners can now read and write in English but other things have changed in our currency notes design except the Arabic statement. Tbh, it's not a big deal. They can even use French sef, the economy is more paramount. atmstyle: |

Re: Reno Omokri Defends Arabic On Naira Note On His Social Media Page by Onitola2: 8:21pm On Jan 13, 2020 |
potent5:lol, u clearly hate the language(or Islam, you're not just bold enough to say it), not the meaning, Arabic is the Islamic language and their culture, many cultures traditions are scripted on our currencies, masquerades as well, you're not fighting that, the Arabic word written on the currency means d same as d English, in the army, it's only d Islamic affairs soldiers that that are using d Arabic tag. |

Re: Reno Omokri Defends Arabic On Naira Note On His Social Media Page by bahaushe1: 9:53pm On Jan 13, 2020 |
Thegeneralqueen: It is not Arabic. It is called 'Ajami'. It is Hausa written with Arabic alphabets. If you were to take those inscriptions to the Arabs world, no one who is not a Hausa speaker can make meaning out of them. |
