Is the date your year of birth or just day or month?

date of birth is the same.... but date of graduation is 7/1/19 on the NYSC senate list while date of graduation on my statement of result is 29/1/2020....any problem with that..

No problem, the one NYSC will work with is the one on the Senate list. But meet your department for the correction on your statement of result.

Hello all,

Please i need an urgent help. The names in my WAEC Cert and Jamb Cert are different. E.g my Waec contains only my first and last name while my jamb contains my three names and my school said that NYSC wouldn’t allow me mobilize with the discrepancy. Please how can i correct the name on my jamb to reflect just my first and last name so that it matches what is on my waes result. Thanks for your help.

You might have heard the wrong message from your school. I really don't think NYSC has a business with your WAEC unless you have a date of birth related issue. Your WAEC result therefore authenticate your real age.

Where you might have an issue is when the name on jamb's portal doesn't match that of the school's record.

You have to be careful before making another wrong choice. But if you insist on changing your name with JAMB, you have to apply for correction of name. You'll then pay the sum of #2,500 and submit an indemnity to your school, alongside some other relevant documents as the WAEC result, birth certificate, etc.

Your vice chancellor has to sign the indemnity and the indemnity transported to JAMB's office in your state. JAMB then sends it to the national headquarters in Abuja. When that is done, you're good to go.

Looking at the process, it might take a while to be completed. Make confirmation of what exactly your problem is before jumping into another problem.

NYSC posting policy for PCMs.

The posting policy for a place of primary assignment for corp members:

In line with the directive of the Federal Government, the NYSC post corps members to four key areas of national development. These include: Education, Agriculture, Rural Health and Infrastructure. Therefore, corps members are posted to the following areas for their primary assignment in the various states/FCT:
Hospitals – Health Sector
Road Construction – Infrastructure
Farming – Agriculture
Water Schemes – Agriculture, Infrastructure
Surveying and Mapping – Infrastructure

Teaching – Education
Food Storage and Eradication of Pest – Agriculture
Rehabilitation of Destitute and Disabled – any of the 4 areas
Development of Sports – Education, Health,Infrastructure

Just a little information about what to expect when it comes to NYSC PPA posting for prospective corp members.

Thank you for your response. The issue I have with my Jamb result is that there was a transposition error e.g my middle name appeared as the first and the school said that NYSC wouldn’t accept it.

You didn't mention when you graduated( which year?)
But I assume it's last year and Going by the dates you mentioned, you turned 29 in September 2019 and your graduation month is August 2019...You don't have any problem going for nysc.
Also, if your interested in direct posting when the time comes, you can hit me up

I have a Niece whose name on waec is different from that of the jamb due to mistake made by WAEC during her waec registration,

her name appear like this on her waec result, Kunla Mary Bisi

but her jamb and school details is
Kunle Mary Bisi

it just the "e"and "a"on the ending of her surname that is the different, of which the one with "e" at the ending of her surname is the correct one

will it affect her ?

Thanks as I await your response

Definitely not. She wouldn't have an issue. JAMB and the school's name are what is expected to tally.

It won't affect her for NYSC, because JAMB is the main thing needed by NYSC and, her school details corresponds to it as well. She's all good.
But she should try and correct the name on her waec for future purposes.

You may be lucky to get a favourable state when posting starts which is rare in most cases because there's a standard way of posting PCMs to the various 6 geopolitical zones in the country wether you like it or not, and getting a good ppa as well but, if you don’t like your current NYSC State for already serving corps members, seeking Redeployment, Relocation, Direct posting to any state of your choice before the 3 weeks camp for prospective corp members and Place of Primary Assignment(PPA). How can she go about the change of name on waec

I guess her certificate ought to be ready by now even though she's yet to take it from the school

her waec was in 2012

Yea her waec will be ready now. When she gets it from her school, she will go to waec office and apply for correction of name. They will give her a list of documents to provide for such. Documents like an affidavit from a high court must be one of them, birth certificate, photocopy of her waec cert, plus other things they will attach.
