engrelvis:Hisbah and civilian JTF were created to curb crime in the north , agreed. But the last time I checked, bokoharam and hersemen are spreading their tentacles like wildfire in the north. In fact, our government has called them all manners of names whereas, they are still same boko boys, from herdsmen to bandits to cattle rustlers... South west is the only truly United region in Nigeria. Forget all the political games. Once we have a common goal to achieve, all our leaders would key into it. Seyi makinde didn't back out because he's a pdp man...that's yoruba for you. Amotekun isn't an ethnic militia and I think alot need so be educated about this. They have laws guiding their activities just like the hisbah and the JTF. They report to the police. They're not same opc as people thought. Opc is an ethnic militia, just like the bakasi boys and mend. Amotekun would report criminal activities to the police. They're well structured with salary. Our leaders aren't expecting any dime from the federal government just same way they didn't ask them to fund the free education which our forebears enjoyed which is why we are still the most educated and learned region today. They're educated individuals and not touts like the opc militia. Each member recruited would have their background checked up to his hometown. His biometric information would be taken. Trust us when it comes to organisation. We do not just act on something. We study and consult widely and that's why we are different from other regions since independence. We observe the prons and cons. The rate of killings and kidnapping in our land is alarming bro. I almost fell victim last Thursday when I was going to asaba along the benin bypass highway. That desolate place...herdsmen stormed the road, kidnapping and maiming. See hundreds of vehicles stand afar, observing. Police were at a checkpoint close-by but couldn't near these people. I tried checking since Friday but discovered it didn't make news headlines. Several of such happen in the south west daily but you and I wouldn't see it in the news because the victims were not relations of the eminent personalities in our society. We want our peace back. Amazingly, those who are opposed to this vibrant idea also have their family members represented in the south west who could be victims of these criminals anyday ,if not checked because we go to the same market to buy, ply the same roads everyday. They're just too myopic in their thinking. We have had hersemen in our midst for centuries and they don't carry guns neither do they kill or slit peoples throats open. In my town in Ekiti, my dad would give them roasted yam to eat and they'd give us Wara in return. They never encroached on our maize or yam farm. There are some criminal elements amongst them who sre evil. Shebi the federal government have said they are foreigners...eeeeh, let us send them back to their country where they hail from naw. Mind you, not only herdsmen are kidnappers oo, there are other people from the other side who come to disrupt the peace of our people. Amotekun would take care of them all. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

engrelvis: The OPC are he ones that work together with some military forces to fish out the badoo boys killing and rubbing citizens in Ikorodu. Also, President Jonathan gave the OPC contract to secure oil pipeline in Lagos and they did a good job securing the pipelines. We never hear vandalism in Lagos like we hear now. The OPC are also part of the neighborhood night watch securing Lagos at night. They are also mostly hired for vigilante duties and also the police have been working with them locally to make arrest and to get intel and info. Tinubu, is just a politician and not a Yoruba Oba or representative. He is only after his own selfish interest. So, that one doesn’t count on anything. He don’t have a say for any Yoruba and he only has one vote like you and I. We need to stop making some old corrupt men feel like hero. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

The same old tactic ! Alimi was a fulani spy sent by the caliphate to infiltrate Yoruba land and report back his findings in preparation for eventual invasion and conquest agenda of the Fulani caliphate. He settled down in Ilorin at a time when the Oyo empire had been terribly weakened by so many unnecessary internal conflicts and disputes. The empire was at its lowest ebb. Afonja, the generalissimo ( Aare ona kakanfo) was quite ambitious and very rebellious. He had stopped taking order from Alaafin Aole. Alimi, the Fulani man was aware of all these facts. He was quite aware of the strengths and military prowess of Afonja and his warriors. He knew that there was no way the Jammahs ( caliphate warriors) would invade Ilorin and conquer the seasoned and battle hardened Afonja and his men. He thereafter devised a way and became overnight friend of Afonja. He quickly won Afonja's trust and became his adviser ! Remember,Alimi was a Fulani military spy who disguised as an Islamic scholar in Ilorin. Having studied Afonja and his men, he realised there was no way the invading "jonmon" could overrun Ilorin. So he offered Afonja the most devilish advice that cost him his life. He advised Afonja to sack all his warriors that he would supply him with "able bodied men" for him to realise his ambition of forming his own empire independent of Oyo. This is the same advice the same Fulani people are offering us again today ! Amotekun !! Long history cut short,Afonja sacked most of his men and he replaced them with Alimi's men- the jonmon ! At a point, the jonmon became quite troublesome and stopped taking orders from Afonja. They did whatever Alimi asked them to do or not to do. Prior to the invasion of Afonja's palace and his eventual dethronement and death, Alimi withdrew all Fulani warriors from the palace. Afonja was left with very few Yoruba warriors; he was exposed. On the day of the palace invasion, Afonja's men were grossly outnumbered. The ratio was like 30 to 1! Afonja gathered his remaining Yoruba warriors in the palace and faced Alimi and his men. He and his men fought gallantly and was able push back Alimi and his men, several meters away from the palace, to the junction where he was eventually killed. Afonja was so brave that he fought and died on his feet such that the Fulani jonmon were even scared of touching his dead body. Alaafin was aware of everything that was happening in Ilorin but refused to give orders to his war Generals stationed in Ibadan and its environs to assist and liberate Afonja. He already placed a curse on Afonja and his offsprings that they would be treated like strangers on their own land. Alimi received orders from Gwandu, the then seat of the caliphate, to march southward and conquer other Yoruba towns and cities. Alimi's men met their waterloo at Osogbo (1840) where they were crushed and suffered heavy defeats in the hands of Oyo soldiers ably led by the Ibadan Generals. They locked down Ilorin for months and could have taken it back without any fight but the Alaafin refused to give order to that effect. He used that to punish Afonja for his rebellion. The closest town to Ilorin is Ganmo and the traditional ruler of that town is an Oba- not an emir. That shows that the Oyo soldiers could have taken over Ilorin if they had been given order to do so. I am Yoruba,an Amotekun ! The descendants of bandit, land grabber and terrorist called Uthman Dan fodio should know that Yoruba people will always be a thousand and one miles ahead of them in all ramifications. The brouhaha on the pages of newspapers and the internet is needless. If anybody truly wants to stop Amotekun, then they should be the guests of Ode Ibiles and the Agbekoyas in the deep forests of Oodua land. Please don't forget to come with your AK 47s and other assault rifles. It will give us the needed platform to demonstrate what we are capable of doing. Amotekun is here and cannot be stopped by any bandit from the plateau of futa jalon in Guinea. Amotekun ! Ogboju Ode,gbogbo ara kiki oogun ! 6 Likes 4 Shares |

GlobalWay: These Fulani people have imperialist agenda in the country, i can say this with 100% assurance. Their way of life is, if you accommodate us too much, then we override you in your own land, just like they overrode afonja in his Ilorin empire. Imagine, Fulani's want to provide security for Yoruba people in South West, what an insult! 1 Like |

engrelvis: Except Yoruba president, you never heard anything of such during obasanjo presidency. Yoruba's are more dynamic, civilized and tolerant than any tribes in the country. That is why some people misread Yoruba's accommodating nature as cowardice, watch how Fulani terrorists will pee on their pant with this operation amotekun. Yoruba's are the reason why the country is still standing together, they are the uniting factor. 1 Like |

OROSUNBOLB: I like this your narrative, though society is now modernized, we have modern police, military and para military comprised of all tribes. Hope Yoruba's can learn from history, but Nigeria unity is also important. But the invasive attitude of these Fulani's needs to be put to check. |
