Thank you very much for your swift reply.
Well articulated and insightful. Please can you drop your email or WhatsApp number for further discussion and relative assistance when needed.
Once again,I thank you very much.

STENON:

Stop looking at CV- library for now.

Please Download the form on this link and search for the company name related to your discipline . Search on google for each company name and look for their email address/phone number ... compose a mail with your qualifications and working experience. Tell them you are looking for job and you are from Nigeria so you will need tier 2 work visa sponsorship. Wait back for their response or give them a phone call as reminder and let me know what they say.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/register-of-licensed-sponsors-workers

Please if you don't mind, You can send me a format of the mail here before sending them by using acronym xyz to block your details and I will proofread for you.
Wishing you all the best

Welcome to scotland and hope you are enjoying the weather ? wink

You start by applying for any available job at Edinburgh.
Then you can think of applying for online tutor via tutorful.com while processing your Teaching Licence with the Graduate Teaching Council of Scotland.
Do you have TRCN?
I dont have TRCN ma...

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to settling down of new migrants here. I recently arrived at Edinburgh with tier 4 visa and have been struggling with getting accommodation and the weather isn’t nice here angry. Please I want to know which of the bank can I open with as a student and which of the network should I get that will be good to call my family in Nigeria with low tariff. @stenon, ma I have a bachelor in teacher’s education/chemistry. I am as well interested in teaching here in Scotland please where do I start from?

Your school should provide that information.
If you call Nigeria often try Vectone mobile, Lebara or Lyca mobile.

Let her finish her NYSC, hope she is teaching at her PPA?

1. Yes, TRCN.
2. Yes, Primary, secondary plus College level
3. No need for MSc now as I am not even using my MSc for any application.
Experience and TRCN is all that's needed now
But MSc in management will help her attain the Leadership role as HOD or head teacher after few years of working .

To practice as a nurse here, you need to pay for training and certifications, but as a qualified Teacher from Nigeria, no training or schooling is required except some CPD training while on the job.
Peace !

A million thanks to you.

Banks: Barclays was the ‘classical’ student bank..
Mobile Network: Approximately how much money (in £) are you willing to spend on phone calls per month?
That may determine the recommendation you get.

Please stop using ma for me...

TRCN should have made things easier but you can still try because it's clearly stated that you must be a registered/qualified Teacher . How many years teaching experience do you have ?

You can also try rebtel application for calling Nigeria. I got 120 minutes free call to Nigeria as welcome package after downloading the application months ago.

Okay. That is good and perfect. Just continue with the teaching experience, I am actually working out something for a family friend now and praying it works out well within 3 months and then I will contact you. Hope you won't change your moniker by then undecided

@Stenon, sorry to bother you once again. Your experience as a teacher in the UK is invaluable ,thus the numerous questions.

I have a sister who has HND degree in Mass communication, then post graduate diploma in education and 13 years experience teaching junior and senior classes English Language and literature in one of the Air Force secondary schools in Nigeria. She now wants to pursue the UK dream. She has TRCN certificate. I am aware she will need IELTS for visa immigration
1) what are the chances of her getting a job with tier 2 sponsorship?
2) Will English language teaching job even be available considering that UK speaks English as first language?
3) She is 47 years, though look younger than that. Can this be a limiting factor or do people above 60years teach in the UK?

No need for IELTS.

1.The probability is Yes or No.
2. Yes
3. So many English teachers are needed for non native english speakers.
4. Her Age should not be a limiting factor.

1st step : You must be a recognised teacher from Nigeria and registered with Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria.

2nd : Pay and send your documents to UKNARIC for Statement of Comparability via https://uknaric.org/

If you are in England, you can apply for Assessment only Route (AO) with your UKNARIC and be employed directly by school.

But if you are in scotland, the following steps are still applicable to you after getting your UKNARIC...

3rd : Pay and register with Graduate Teaching Council of Scotland to check your credibility for registation via
https://www.gtcs.org.uk/registration/qualified_uk_row-checklist.aspx

4th : Contact your Nigeria School head or Subject head as referee

5th : Pay to Get your Police clearance certificate via Nigeria embassy in London

6th : Pay and Register for Protection of Vulnerable Group (PVG) for the adults

7th : pay and Register for PVG for children

If GCTS is fully satisfied with all that, you will then be contacted after few months and given go ahead to pay for application as a Teacher

8th : Pay for your unique Teacher Registration licence Number with GTCS

9th : You are good to go as a Full or probational or conditional Qualified Teacher depending on your experience and credentials.

Good morning to you gurus in the house.

You guys are really wonderful.

I just applied to study Masters Social Work in Scotland...which is a 2 years programme.

I have a BSc in Psychology.

I will like to know the possibilities of getting Tier 2 sponsorship after my MSc programme.

Your swift responses will be appreciated.

Thank you.

@Aphrodite007...Please what are the Prons and Cons of the Course in Scotland?

Thank you

Pros is it’s a lovely course.
Pro is if you’re fine die, you might just marry and your hustle would make sense.

Cons is you won’t get a job u less you are British because a lot of their people study it.
Con again is really? for a masters? Isn’t there an alternative that you will use when you go back to Nigeria? (Cos I’m yet to see social work get a good job in Nigeria unless it’s through connect).

FINAL PRO- seeing as they are giving 2 year post study, you may get work in social care (but don’t feel insulted that your boss doesn’t even have bsc).
FINAL CON- The issue is what will happen after the two years when you don’t get a husband or a sponsor? Another masters?

WhY don’t you consider teaching like the lovely lady above spoke about?

Thank you everyone on this thread. I'm truly learning a lot.

Ogas in the house, thank you.
I have read the thread from page 1-the last page.

Please just a quick question.

My wife is a Nurse, she is currently preparing for her OET in other to be registered as a nurse in the UK.

I'm a Mathematics teacher in the Junior Secondary with TRCN. B.Ed Mathematics.

I have interest in Data Science, hence I'm currently doing a part time program on Python programming.

Reading through advice and comments here,
I want to ask please can I start my journey with UKNaric here or wait till I get to UK as my wife's dependent.

Can I pursue a certification in Data Science while doing teaching Job.

The gurus in the house please advice a brother.
