OruExpress: A good point but wrong topic in my opinion. Like I always say, government is not Nigeria’s problem but our mentality is the problem. Why I do say this is that, it is the very few part of the people that are fortunate to make it to the position of authority that are referred to as government. Government is just a name given to them to distinguish them as the one in authority. So, their regular mentality doesn’t change it’s just the title that changed for that period. And the power drunk, oppression, greed, insecured attitudes embedded in the gene and mentality of average black man comes into manifestation as soon as they assume power. So it’s not a matter of government is better than individuals, but don’t forget that if the few that are fortunate to make it up there could have a good sense of judgment and a changed mentality, they will make decisions that would reflect their values and this would also eventually lead to change in so many individuals mentalities. This could be noticed in other countries, it’s not that the people doesn’t have bad instincts but when the few people that made it to power were able to make decisions that favors the masses, there is no call for the manifestation of the bad instincts. So don’t see the government as being better rather see them as individuals with the opportunity to make a change but failing due to the bad mentality. 2 Likes |

[quote author=SoNature post=85974947] Keep quiet! You have absolutely nothing to say about the imams. It's always easy to castigate and criticize the pastors and priests. But when it comes to the imams, you idiots will chicken out because of the wrath of Moslems. Silly things! BEST! |

landmark86:The point is you, are you trying to make life better for others? What have you done in your little way to help random Nigerians without exploiting them or hoping to be rewarded. It has never been what the country or government can do for you. It has always been what you can do for your country and government. If everyone decides to help everyone no matter their station in life, soon we would have a government filled with men eager to better this country. What the O.P is saying and which is accurate is that a government cannot be better than the thinking, behavior and values of its people because it is from the people that a government is constituted. Hope you get the point now? 2 Likes |

Why can't you include the Imams or perhaps make use of reasonable examples about all. I'm suspecting You are among Nigeria's problems. |

Sirheny007: Actually it should be... "The government of a nation reflects its citizens". The fact that >90% of Nigerians are bad and mentally unstable, their government (Politicians and Officials) reflect those citizens as they're chosen from them. So the people elected in government exhibit the citizens attitude and behaviors. 3 Likes |

I find it hard to believe that a lot of us are still helping the failed elite propagate these concorted lies... my point is this 1.what role should the average Nigerian play to keep Michelin, Dunlop and many other migrating companies in Nigeria, 2. It is argued that courses like Sociology Anthropology and many more have no relevance in the present day Nigeria, yet our institutions are flooded with these courses. When you churn out unemployable graduates and take away the few available jobs what then do you expect from the people? Many years ago Nigerians travel abroad to study and then return home to work even as teachers and nurses, the question then is what as changed, why do masters degree holders now traveling abroad to to do dishes and wash bodies? The situation is that of finding oneself in a vehicle driven by a crazy driver, you complain yet you cannot alight except for the lucky ones who have found a way to travel outside the shores of this country . Lastly government policies whether right or wrong directly affect the way people think or act, therefore if you ask me, I say our leaders have failed, the people are the same good people, hard working and industrious, all we need is a good driver to get the best out of them.. 3 Likes |

anonimi:it changed when they can no longer refuse the offer of " the man with a questionable character " , it changes when they do not know what to eat next, there is no hidden agenda to the change, it is just worsening poverty crises. Let us paint it like this you are a rich man but with a questionable source of income, I am just an ordinary man but I still struggle to pay my bills, every path you clear for me to come closer to u will be rebuffed by me because my conscience is intact, after maybe 10 years and things get worse and poverty turns to penury, then that restraining conscience dies a natural death. |

SenecaTheYonger: Don't do that to your kids, it's dangerous if they are to live in Nigeria. They'll only become an easy prey for these parasitic people, which the great majority of Nigerians are. Your act of kindness is seen as foolishness. I'm talking from experience. The people that survive this environment are mean and heartless ones. I have made up my mind to weed out every parasite around me. I can never see these bunch of ingrates as an extension of myself again — all man should mind his business. #Nobody gets in trouble minding his business! 1 Like |

True talk op. The government's behaviour is always representative of the citizenry's; after all, the government did not drop from the moon but are a part of us; our fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters. It is always funny to see people complaining of government corruption when they themselves are stealing their company's funds, taking kickbacks from customers, and inflating project prices in their own private/public jobs. Yes, I'm talking about the general working public. Even students try to cheat, fudge project data, give out sex for marks and use their daddy's post. 1 Like |

m140:We elect who? How do we know, when INEC and court do decide a winner? Example if the leaders of CPC and AD, PDP faction did not impose Buhari on Nigeria he will not be elected president today. I rarely seen how Nigerians elect their leaders when the whole process is in secrecy and subject to manipulations by election officials including the court. Leadership is the problem of Nigeria. That us the simple term. |

I agreed with this op because, we need to change our heart and ways. Imagine a Nigerian man in abroad helping someone to Oman or Dubai for work knowing too well yuh are going for slavering but still be shouting for you to pay him complete and you call it business. Imagine world bank accept to give us grant but men hijack it and write the names of their unborn child just to save and steal more money. Imagine someone white man or woman show pity in a abroad and decided to help only to be planning the untimely death of the white boss. Just black mind. We need human heart change not government change 1 Like |
