Amotekun: Police Seal off Freedom Park The Solidarity Walk in support of security outfit, Western Nigeria Security Network, otherwise known as Amotekun, may not hold after all in Lagos. The Nigeria Police has sealed off Gani Fawehunmi Park, Ojota Lagos, venue of the event. Correspondent Tunde Pratt reports that there is heavy presence of police officers at the venue. Nigeria Info can confirm that the Police are not allowing the organizers use the park despite explanations that the park has been paid for. https://nigeriainfo.fm/post/amotekun-police-seal-off-freedom-park

As an Omoluabi, I’m seating down on the fence on this issue Amotekun is good and born out of necessity but it has been bastardized the moment the governors and afenifere hijacked it. Amotekun should be centralized!! And mode of operation well organized hence...it might be a political armed tools for the governors who are seeking second terms and also the one looking for presidency and also the Shameless Elders(Odumakin Squad) who wants to capitalize on it to make money from the federal government. We don’t want the same thing that befall the NPF to befall this sacred institution 24 Likes 4 Shares |

Didn't they obtain police permission? Paying for the venue for such a sensitive event is not enough. 2 Likes |

Amotekun solidarity walk kicks off in Osun amid tight security The Yoruba World Congress Solidarity Walk in support of Amotekun operation holding across all the South-West states is currently going on in Osogbo, the Osun State capital. Troupes of members of different solidarity groups trooped to the Freedom Park venue of the exercise as early as 9.00 am where they gathered and embarked on the walk through the major rounds around Okeifia Roundabout, Alekuwodo, the popular Olaiya Junction and other environs, singing solidarity songs. They are armed with placards with inscriptions: ‘Amotekun has come to stay’, ‘No going back on Amotekun’, ‘Solution to insecurity in South West is Amotekun’, ‘Amotekun is here to stay’, ‘We need to save our people in South West’, among others. Heavily armed security operatives including DSS, Police, and Civil Defence are in the entourage to provide security and maintain law and order. The walk is relatively peaceful as residents are going about their businesses freely, though causing a brief traffic grid which has eased in some areas. Although the turn out of solidarity group members is low, those that turned out had an impressive showing by the solidarity songs and placards on display. https://www.sunnewsonline.com/amotekun-solidarity-walk-kicks-off-in-osun-amid-tight-security/ 3 Likes |

Armed Policemen, DSS storm venue of Amotekun rally in Ogun Dozens of security Operatives from the Nigeria Police, Department of State Security Service (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), most of them armed on Monday morning positioned themselves at Panseke, a bustling area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, following planned rally by the Yoruba Youth Congress(YYC). The rally which is expected to be coordinated simultaneously in the six Southwest States is aimed drumming support for the Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed Amotekun as well as sends message to the Federal Government that nothing should be put in the way to kill the dream. Although the rally is yet to commence but the armed Operatives from the Police, DSS, NSCDC and other special units of the Police had stormed the venue ahead of time and stationed themselves at strategic locations by the entrances and the surrounding streets. Some on plain clothes security Operatives were also sighted discretely taking vigil at different access ways to Panseke. Panseke derives its boisterousness and name to the June 12, 1993 struggle, having being theatres of most borne fires and rallying ground for June 12 crusaders and democracy struggles. The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Kenneth Ebrimson, who visited the Amotekun Rally venue said the people have rights to peaceful assembly as enshrined in the constitution but added that security Operatives were put on ground to forestall any breach of peace. Ebrimson warned whoever tries to harass or intimidate other law abiding Nigerians from engaging in their legitimate business in the name of rally would have the full weight of the law “descending ruthlessly on him.” https://thenationonlineng.net/armed-policemen-dss-storm-venue-of-amotekun-rally-in-ogun/ 2 Likes |

if the Yorubas believe AMOTEKUN is legal or created by any law and that the duties and responsibilities of the outfit (including the issue of holding fire-arms or lethal weapons) does not contravene any provision of the constitution, what is stopping them from approaching the Courts for settlement of the matter? Why can't our Yoruba brothers pursue the issue of AMOTEKUN based purely on its merit and without joining HISBAH which differs in legitimacy, structure and functions, into their agitation? Why can't they go about the matter with maturity and without insults or emotional blackmail against the Northerners especially and anyone of them who has reserved public commentary aligning with their agitations? Is the group of South West Governors not made up of at least a lawyer? Rotimi Akeredolu the Governor of Ondo State is not only a Senior Advocate of Nigeria but also a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association. Why has he been unable to provide legal advise to his peers on the legal implications of setting up AMOTEKUN the way it was done? Is this an indictment of his legal credentials or simply a well orchestrated move? the outlawed notorious Yoruba Ethnic Militia (OPC) with history of violent crimes against other ethnic groups and even the police, are integral part of the outfit WE APC SAY NO TO AMOTOKEN...WE SAY NO TO TERRORISTS If SW needs regional force they shoul rally for. Constitutional review that will guarantee them regional force. And of course we will gladly support such move where both referendum, security, the resources control, infact full restructuring will be considered. This will guarantee them regional force as well empower every Nigeria to face any rascal head on. Both clearly always feeling they are smart because they one support restructuring by mouth and media. Clearly boycotted the right thing and set up regional force and now want to use media to make it scale through. I hate deceit and why are they not talking about constitutional reviews that guarantees them all they want. So since that the game and I am not interested in their 2023 brigandage or whatever, Amotekun remains unlawful and a terrorist organisation. If they need that we can support them through review and of course it is not lost on me that SE, SS even NC wants same review then why are they avoiding same process. 4 zones against 2 will get it done. 4 Likes |

Aon gerrit why would police (the idiots that their cluelessness caused creation of àmọ̀tẹ́kùn) be the ones to stop protesters in Lagos? If I were in Lagos rn, I know a few officers who wouldn't go home in one piece if they are trying to prevent the protest See youth in fine car, fine dress, they harass and obtain, cock guns and even shoot those who resist, but when they are called to stop armed robbers their gun will jam or there's no fuel in their car Call them to settle issue when cows destroy a farm they'll go there unharmed If you are in Lagos, you know what to do These sọ called one million boys and other ẹrú ikús in Lagos sef can sabi disappoint Amotekun has come to stay 8 Likes |
