Good morning nairalanders, I am forced to post because of an inverter installation that will not allow me move forward to see if anyone can proffer a solution. Around end of October last year I proposed and installed a Zinox Ipower 5KvA Transformer series for a client. Right from the first day after connecting the batteries it didn't work, instead a fault light came on. I called the Zinox people and they said I should bring it to their service center. Which we did. It took almost two months of going back and forth to get a replacement. I even insisted on using one of their installers to do it so they will not say my installation was faulty. They installed it toward the end of December. They used circuit breakers for the battery connection and phcn connection . A day after the installation one of the circuit breakers( the one connected to batteries) tripped off they switched it back on. Just Just last Sunday at 9pm, the clients wife called to say the same circuit breaker suddenly got burnt. I asked them to buy another one to replace it the next day. This they did only to find out that the inverter has packed up once again. I called them and as usual they said I should bring it to their office. Which the client said he won't do till the installer comes to drop the inverter. Guys, this client had a genus 3KvA inverter which I installed for him three years back, which we didn't even use any of those safety gadgets for and I never received a single call for support from them. The same 3kva genus inverter was removed and has been working in another location since November last year with no problems reported. Ever since I replaced it with the Zinox 5KvA Ipower inverter it has been one problem after the other even with all the safety gadgets in place. The client who paid for this inverter 3 months ago hasn't even enjoyed it for up to a month. I have even lost all the profit I made on it. But my main concern is not to lose my reputation and the clients trust. I have used other Ipower products in the past without issues and so I wonder why their transformer series which should be more rugged is now a stumbling block. I would please like if someone who has used or is familiar with that kind of inverter can tell me his experience and what he did to resolve it. Thanks and over to you nairalanders 1 Like |

This is dry season and I need to constantly clean my panels. Pls do I need to disconnect the panel from the CC before cleaning with water or I can just go ahead while still connected. My question may seem stupid as someone may ask me, "do you disconnect during rains or don't you know it's tantamount to rain falling on it?" I ask because splash ing water on it is sudden, cooling it almost immediately and it getting hot again in minutes unlike during rainfall when weather would have cooled it off first and then gradually heat up as sun come back up Incidentally a medicine shop in my vicinity got burnt few days ago; story is the inverter caused it though i have not been able to get true gist. My colleagues who I've been advising on the beauty and sense in solar are now skeptical. How do I convince them? |

desiji:Agreed with desiji, Pylontech US3000B, the 3.5kWh version can set one back GBP1200 plus 20% VAT. The main issue is shipping, because these lithium batteries are considered as dangerous goods. One distributor wants GBP2500 per battery plus 20% VAT to deliver each battery to Nigeria. So, a better solution may be direct import from China. However beware that many low-cost LiFePO4 packs are made from B-grade used EV batteries and have non-robust BMS. By the way, I will soon have a good deal that features RS485 and is made with top-10 OEM cells and BMS. Currently priced at NGN1,257,855 for 48v 5.8kWh, including installation. It is rack-mountable, with handles and a 10-year Performance Guarantee from RITILITY. Bulk prices negotiable. I have expressions of interest from corporate customers for complete energy storage solutions (ESS) featuring 5 yr+ warranty, SOC alarms, CAN and RS485 comms, etc. So, if you have a good import deal or want to be part of profitable investment, call +234/0 81 O 337 O 89 O 9 for discussions. cc simydan cc juo cc zeestone99 stand down: kiekie 2 Likes

remizvxcq: That is a well written article that comes from an in dept experience! I have been into the importation line since 2012 mostly from China and what seems to be my watch word is "You get what you pay for" So I have always tried to stick with products that are within average or above average pricing and it has really work for me. My main business is mobile accessories mostly power banks and my power banks cost range from 4k to 13k but because I buy with premium price from Chinese factory, I have always have customer asking for more and giving me refarals. I can at this moment say price is really a factor to consider when buying from China. The only thing that gives you edge is your shipping network. In the bid for a better uninterrupted power solution let's be careful of prices that are too good to be true especially with Lifepo4 battery. Thanks for the link sir 3 Likes |

Topmost11: The usual mopping stick. If it isn't long enough, you can extend with some metal or wooden pole. Soak it well in water and/soap and scrub away. |

remizvxcq: That number 4: "From experience, I have concluded that lying us a perfected art form and a way of survival in China." Those sellers can lie heh! I ordered for MC4 4-to-1 branches, and less than 12hrs later the useless seller was appealing to me to pay extra money for shipping because according to him, shipping costs have gone up and they make no gains again. Well I ignored him and ordered from another seller, but I was shocked when he shipped the item which of course was suspicious. He gave a tracking number which showed Nigeria as destination. Me wey sharp, I just dey watch am. The idiot gave me the tracking number of another buyer in Nigeria located at Umuahia when I my own destination is Lagos. I just opened dispute straight and got back my money. 1 Like |

Oshomo12: Hi Oshomo, Yes it is authentic. I posted sometime back that Canadian Solar actually remodeled their panels. This time, their junction box is of the IP68 Split type (at the middle). Good performance, I must also say. Installed 2.7KW (9# 300W) last year for a client and have been seeing, at peak, over 3kw. Cheers 2 Likes

theoilguy: Yes sir... Though this their remodeled version doesn't follow the usual normal Mono design with the diamond-white-shaped line, or whatever... But still looking at it, you can tell it's Mono; also indicated in the model type on the sticker Cheers |
