It's all about the perfect paperwork and the American Company lawyer. DOL's approval is very necessary. Usually it's based on your degree and experience. Also Job Visa it's some kind of lottery, it has time to apply and a limited quantity approval, not all get it. The American Company lawyer needs to convince DOL and US Immigration Services, there is no Americans with your skills, you are kinda unique. I am not sure how is it now exactly, but some years ago it was publishing the job offer in US news papers with your skills to confirm there is NO Americans for your position.

Why not trying Canada? They have it more easy.

Hello please I need your help.

So my mum, my sister and younger brother want to go on holiday to America. The following is their travel history:

My mum and sis = on 10 years UK’s visas(both travel every year)

Mum = has been to the US b4 (spent 2weeks) but visa has expired.

Mum, sis, bro= all been to Dubai on a family holiday as it’s what we do.

Bro= schooled in SA for a year but he’s never had a uk visa and was denied one last year because he only just graduated from school.

My question is, do they all stand a good chance of getting it with this travel history?

They r going on another family holiday this Easter in Washington and my elder brother who Is British is joining them over there from London. Both him and my sister are sponsoring cos mum doesn’t work and my younger brother only started working 4 months ago, though he has a job that pays 150k monthly.

As for me I don’t plan going with them this time because I’ll be busy with work.

Mum and sister's chances are pretty high, younger brother's chances aren't exactly good. Maybe the family Dubai trip may help though. But overall, it seems he's the main interest of this trip, others are decoy,, that would hardly get past a VO's radar....

If they get to be interviewed by a nice VO who is feeling good, they all have a great chance.

But note your brother's interview will be on his own merit as everyone else on the trip. Apart from his 4 months old job, he needs to be really convincing and confident.

Who is sponsoring him since Jand Brother and Naija Sister is responsible for Mum?

Who is in DC? Why DC?

Work visa is not an easy way to go to the US even for work.

I know three people who have gone to US from Nigeria but they worked here in Nigeria for very large companies with even larger presence in US and it was company transfers.

One went to learn a new technology for 9 months they were going to deploy in Nigeria. Did so well, he was retained there and came back to train Nigeria staff and posted back to US after the training.

Two and three (a couple) worked for same consulting firm and were posted to US together because wife merited US posting.

It is a long process
You and the company employing you have to convince the USGov you have a job to do that no American can do, hence the need to employ you from Nigeria.

I will need your response on this last comment.

I don’t understand what you mean by main interest and others being decoys. Pls make it clearer. Would it be better if he applied alone but on the same day. Because this is a family holiday and he is part of the family.

Believe me if he was the main interest of this trip they’ll all be visiting somewhere in the Uk.

If he applies alone! His chances of getting it will drop from 80 to like 40-50%! Fresh graduate,no strong attachment to his job (4 months),no serious home ties etc! They should apply together! The travel history of the family should rub off on him!

I’d be very shocked if they don’t get the visa! But the US embassy being the way it is right now! Eiishhh! Anyway! Good luck to them!

Thanks. I really hope they do. Mumsy loves holidays and trips, the woman like to enjoy! Lol. She thinks he deserves to tag along after so long studying and coming out with great grades. True though, he does!

....And i know of a lady who got a visa in 2016 along with her mum! The mum has travel history to the UK as well! The lady has no travel history at all!

His chances are still higher applying with them!
