As the clamour for a president from the south-eastern part of Nigeria in 2023 intensifies, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, has advised his people who what they must do to get that long dream realised in the next general elections.

The former governor of Anambra State in an exclusive interview with The Sun highlighted the following conditions;

1. All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) must collapse their party into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

2. Igbo leaders must build political bridges across the country.

3. Ndigbo must be properly integrated into the mainstream politics by identifying with the two major political parties in the country.

4. Ndigbo must lobby other other ethnic groups and must do some political reengineering.

5. Ndigbo must shop for and prepare a credible candidate that will be generally accepted by Nigerians.

“Those who say they are in APGA should collapse and come into the mainstream politics of Nigeria.”

“If APGA wants to help Ndigbo as they pretend or as they mouth or tout, they have to realign and come into the mainstream Nigerian politics. We have to go and reinforce in the two political parties.

There is still time for the Igbo to re-strategise, and we have to start now. That is what I am saying.

“Ndigbo will need to go and resuscitate their firepower; shop for a credible candidate, prepare him the way Zik (Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe) was prepared and blessed when he came back from abroad.

“Baptise the candidate very well, and then present him before other Nigerians. It’s a game of numbers.

We have to court other Nigerians to give us support. You must court them. That is the game.

“You must lobby. You must do some political reengineering. For today, we are not getting it right as Ndigbo.

“If we start today to get it right, it is still on time. Igbo have to identify with the two main political parties.

“They must identify with both. But for now, the party with firepower to win presidency at any given time because of its areas of support in Nigeria federation is the APC.

“So, Ndigbo should join the APC. Some of us are there. We are not stupid to be there. We know what we are doing," Ngige said.

Yoruba's that did more than this are not sure of APC ticket . its we Igbo's that would now convince north

Its only through zoning and total support of the south and 60% of middle belt ,35% of birth east that a south Nigerian can be president ...

North would always vote north , of we south continue to play politically mature and don't support zoning we won't see power

Stop putting your mouth on something that's beyond your brain capacity..

We yorubas should be trying to quench the fire that's burning our house, not poke nosing on the affairs of others that are better than us in unity

Even if Igbos don't have anything uniting them, Christianity and Igboness are uniting them..

Now what's uniting we Yorubas ?.. Absolutely nothing..
Yoruba Christians vs Yoruba Moslems.
We Yoruba Christians are supporting regional security, while Yoruba Moslems are kicking against it because they are so desperate to integrate and mix up with Fulaniss.. Ask Muric Akintola..

In Nigeria, no social cultural group has different factions except Aniferere.

Ife vs Modakeke nko ?

What of how we almost tore yourselves into pieces because of hijab crisis in Osun nko ?

Just shut up !!

Umahi and okezie should join apc.

And igbo leaders should prepare between Umahi, soludo , chime and most importantly NGIGE for the position of president in apc.

well said! what Nigeria needs is a leader with a sense of equity. tribal or regional Presidents without sound knowledge of economics and sense of equity is a disaster waiting to happen

Which kind of line is that? So Pdp is no longer zoning to North or what?

No attache for 2023 elections, let each interested party , zone, region, individual test their popularity

Re: What Igbos Must Do To Produce The President In 2023 -- Ngige by gidgiddy: 12:30pm On Jan 23, 2020
I wonder if Ngige knows that the Presidency of Nigeria is something that comes and goes. No matter who gets it, the most you can have it is 8 years.

So you sell your soul and principles for a political office that you will hold for a short time? Why? Igbos have done very well for themselves without the presidency. We should not compromise on our principles for the ever worthless office of president that has never helped the common man on the street
