This is the 2018 audited accounts for your view. Look at this attached note. I am a professional auditor and tax practitioner for many years. I do not just jump on conversations. I also know little about Company's Audited Financial Statements.

I never suggested it ma. I only expressed a surprise that it also joined others in the bullish movement, thereby allowing me to jaaa! But who are those who invested over 2bn in the stock !?

There was a news some months ago that a foreign investor wants to pump in money in Abbey Mortgage bank. I followed them for a while but lost interest later. Maybe they have finally invested?

NSE is back online

HW sold another 4m & 13m shares on 22/01/2020

118m+ and counting

http://www.nse.com.ng/Financial_NewsDocs/28634_ACCESS_BANK_PLC._CORPORATE_ACTIONS_JANUARY_2020.pdf

this is what we know so far

Don't let us be fixated by HW selling. The big question is who is buying these lots? Is power changing hands? This is a strategic transaction! In this clime, you just don't sell down like that as a CEO of a PLC, losing your juice or size of your pie (except for regulatory issue).

Still believe, it's profit taking! And he's selling down to proxies so he can stay under the radar re. official % equity holding.... Most 9ja CEOs (esp the Marlian Ones grin) do it and trading on some of their shares using proxies, leveraging on insider info...

Another sale. Just like someone said the other time. Herbert Wigwe is selling because of the investment opportunities elsewhere and he did not want to borrow money from the bank. The fundamental of the bank is intact. If you are interested you can buy more.

All I can say is - a bird in hand is worth 10 in the bush in 9ja. You don't leave certainty for uncertainty in this clime. You consolidate... Besides, why sell down to fund other projects (assuming true story), when he can use its CEO position for subsidised debt financing (Director's loan) or use his equity holdings to finance such deals.... Just wondering

The guy is paying for funds he laundered for a former gov that didn't get his boss's nod for a second term. Remember he visited the eagle house recently.

So nothing is fundamentally wrong, he's only paying dearly to salvage his reputation.

...but if true, why go thru this official channel with all the paper trail, huh? It shows guilt. An in this clime, that is not streetwise cos they (the eagles) will suck you dry. Never admit publicly to wrong doing. Just negotiate leaving no public paper trail that might back fire on you esp a CEO of a big bank. There are better clandestine ways to return laundered monies if true.... Remember Fidelity CEO vs Diezaniā€¦.

For Wigwe to be selling at this point in time means what ever opportunity he is keying into is grossly undervalued and underpriced and he is about to hammer big time....... And he is about to hammer big time......and I know big time that whatever opportunity he is keying into is right here lurking fully in this country......

Two train of thoughts come to my mind though....
1.) I see him trying to compensate one of the doZies on the Diamond bank deal

2) which is most probable.... I see him trying to raise seed capital to form an entity like heirs holding(Elumelu) for big fishes to sow into to use in acquiring big Assets.....

This people don't settle for 100% return on investment...... They only look out for returns starting from 1000%

Just thinking....

Aspirationally speaking, we can all be "this people" looking for 1000% ROI either in our portfolios or businesses.... Not a fan of THEM and US segmentation, if you know what I mean! Just believe.... cool More reason I like the Marlian concept - Ah Ma fo! grin

Thank you for this clarification.
I work in a Federal Extra-Ministerial Commission who is responsible for Revenue Allocation to the Three Tiers of Government, Expanding sources of Internally Generated Revenue, and monitor revenue accruals into the Federation Accounts.
Last December, some of our officials including me, paid official visit to Unilever to verify what they paid into the account of Nigeria Customs Service, withe the aim of confirming what the Customs remitted into the Federation Accounts.
We held a meeting with the Management and Accountants of the organisation, who told us to our utter chagrin that the organisation doesn't pay tax and they proved it.
Two members of the Board of our Commission who expressed their annoyance that we didn't do our due diligence before visiting the organisation, also confirmed that Unilever is exempted from paying tax. Why, Because they provide jobs to Nigerians. These Board Members retired from the private sector. We had to apologise and take our leave.
We are currently taking up the issue in our organisation, which i will not mention here. OFFICIALLY, Unilever does not pay tax.
Sorry for the poor quality of my write-up, as it is hurriedly done on transit. I have to pack and hurriedly send you this.

Yes o! February is the making-it-happen month for rallied stocks. Peak of rally the last 3 years has always been in February, meaning the month of taking money off the table! It pays to be cash-heavy going into the month of March so as to cherry-pick rebounding stocks against Q1 reporting. My 10 Kobo opinion, though!

Oh Unilever, how are the mighty fallen.
How the strength of youth is dew,
Thy friends watch thee like a leper,
Thy days of glory knocked across the border,
The thousands you fed now curse thee.
Tarry no longer, humble thyself,
Drop thy high heels, remove thy make-up,
Visit UACN and thy glory might be restored.
The market appreciates the humble.

Sir, I see the angle you are coming from. There are various incentives and waivers many companies enjoy based on the extant laws operational in the country. However, INCOME TAX ACT which most of us are familiar with is a law that every company is expected to comply with. Depending on the Government in power, certain exemptions are granted to some companies to meet with the necessity of that period.

Your point is well taken Sir.

I think this is the reason why the country is where we are. Civil servants that really don't know what they are doing. Please sir, if what you said (bolded) is true and you people suspended the audit because of that, that means no company in the country should pay tax because they all employ Nigerians. I thought the proper thing to do is to ask Unilever to provide the act or legislation that exempts them from paying tax.

Obviously you don't work for FIRS and have no business visiting that company in the first place to audit their tax books. You probably work for Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Allocation Commission. You guys are all over the place with no clear mandate and don't understand tax laws.
