Canadians value their degree than one from America degree from america ain't mean nothing to them, however work experience there would go a long way more.

I will advice anyone that isn't planning on getting full funding or paying cheapfees to consider Canada
Predstan:

Tuition in canada? There are no lot of scholarships and Assistantships in Canada like the USA. One can easily go and interview in Canada while in the USA. Get nominated for express Entry by a county or Company and then apply. It will be more easier. First, you have got the American experience which is obviously going to be an advantage wherever you want to go. Second, just as we all are saying, there are no lot of opportunities in the USA, the few ones might be meant for you.

USA we go then.

Meanwhile, can one apply for canada skilled federal program after masters in USA? Any idea?
you would find out it's not as easy as you think, however it might be possible

Stevenssen:
You can't talk about 'reality' and refuse to put out facts for those that ask to know more. The Canada you're talking about is very difficult these days.

Yes it's true that US is more tighter on visas and immigration than before. But students will still come in. Anyone that wants to know info on all these should Google it and you'll learn a lot by yourself.
it's not by coming in, if you know that you have immigrant intent it's better to not waste your time at this moment.... try canada

If you're more optimistic about your chances and you have a plan to survive then you're welcome by all means

You can apply but it would be no different than if you were applying from Nigeria honestly

Once a system gets tight... the the question should be asked is it worth going there especially If you are spending a lot of money and dont want to come home soon. ...... probably not for hard earned money

if it full or partial funding then no problem then maybe ok
Gbam!!

it will be more easier than when you schooled in canada, did post study work with canadian work experience and then applied
Is that what you're saying?? Loool

Tuition?? Tuition?? tuition .. the largest percentage of people on this thread cannot afford the American and the Canadian education without scholarship or Assistantship.

Scholarships and Assistantships is more easier to get in America than Canada for Nigerians... So Yes!!!

Hello everyone, good evening/morning. I appreciate you all for a great job done here thus far. I’m new here, and I’d like to ask some questions....

I just got admission into Texas tech Uni (department of political science).. I got an offer as a TA to online graders. The assistantship comes with a stipend of $10,000 for the period of 9 months (which I can’t really make sense of)...

The admission and offer came few hours ago.. I wish to seek your individual opinion, based on experience overtime about the funding (check attached), before sending a mail to the graduate coordinator.

Thanks

Congratulations on your admission. How much is the tuition fee? and does the $10k stipend virtually cover your living expenses if not all?

About $30,000.. The assistantship obviously doesn’t come a long way. Not a fair deal I bet..

The offer is not so good but you can't reject it just yet.
Wait for the other schools decision and weigh your options.

You obviously didn’t get it. That stipend is just for u to cover parts of your living expenses and large portion of your tuition will be waived for you.

I think it’s a good offer and the deficit you will have will not be much.

Again that stat for tuition you showed up there is for undergraduates. Is your admission for PhD or Masters?

Pol science so not bad... some none research programs are hard to find funding so I would say it's good news. Something however small is better than nothing.. .

But make sure you understand fully what the offer is so you make informed choices. Congrats

The offer obviously covers his/her tuition excluding the Stipend. See this Sentence "Reinmburse, your tuition and fees". This is a funding that covers majority of your living expenses if not all, and completely waives your tuition

Im sorry but I'd have to disagree with you on this..I think this sentence "along with the remission of all but a part of the tuition and fees" means only a part of the tuition is covered..my interpretation though

You are Correct, However, according to the school's policy, the school waives non resident tuition and other fees while the department pays the in-state. So his/her department will determine whether they pay or not.
The best source of information is the Graduate coordinator of the said department

This really made a whole lot of sense to me so far.
Although I’ve emailed the GC for clarity and I await his response.. looks like a fair deal to me now..
