Armed Bandits Might Overrun Nigeria Due To The Slow Response Of Our Security. by Rich4god(m): 3:49pm On Jan 26, 2020
Pardon me for my long post.

It all started with pocket attack on villages in Katsina. But our security acted as if all is well. Next it moved to Zamfara, same pocket attacks... Communities/villages been attacked almost on weekly basis with high casualties, yet the security outfit and the government didn't deem it fit to tackle it head on.
Birnin gwari highway used to be a major road connecting the North Central to the far North West. But today, apart from trailers and other heavy trucks, taking that road is now like a suicide mission cos the bandits have taken over the road, having a field day kidnapping and robbing innocent passengers. A lot have died as a result of this. Abuja-Kaduna highway is now towing that part.

With all these been committed by the armed bandits, our security forces didn't even bother to tackle it with the force needed to stop it. Or maybe they tried, but their effort wasn't enough or there is someone/group of persons up there with a vested interest and they are sabotaging the effort of the security.
Now with the inability of our security to curtail this threat, the bandits have spread downwards, unleashing death wherever they go.... From Katsina to Zamfara, to Niger to Kaduna to Kogi even in the state capital. They have taken over virtually all the highway in the North West.

Let's analyze this, they kidnap people almost on daily basis and they keep collecting ransom. The big question is, what do they do with the money...? Do they buy house, cars, lands...? I don't think they do. There is every tendency that they use the proceed from kidnapping to buy more arms and recruit more bandits who flood in from all over West Africa to unleash hell on Nigerians. If they govt cants curtail it now, soon they will have the population that will be overwhelming for our security forces to tackle.

I seem to stand with what Bishop Kuka of Sokoto said, that the FG is showing a non challant attitude towards the nation's security and so they seem to act in line with the ideology of all these terrorist. If not, how can you explain the silence of the FG on this issue. How is it that armed bandits in their numbers on motorcycle attacks a village, kill people ransack their properties, rustle cattles in their numbers and retreat to their base without any response from the security.... But when the masses wants to protests, all the security agencies will gather and try to stop them. What stops the FG from using the same show of force they used in ABA during the operation python dance. What stops the FG from invading the forest as they invaded Zaria when the arrested El-Zakzakky. What stops the FG from reacting speedily to the menace of insecurity as they did when the South West government launched operation Amatekun. The big question is, Why the silence of the FG. How come we have not heard the outcome of the judgement on the military captain that helped a notorious kidnapper escape from police custody?... Also, where is the kidnapper himself? How come he is yet to be charged to court? Or may be my information is obsolete. There was a time vigilante in Adamawa arrested the local leader of Miyetti Allah and 3 of his sons for alleged link to kidnapping (TVC News)... At about a week later, the villagers got information that the police wants to release them, probably based on order from above. Though the villagers protested against it. The question now is, why will the police release someone who have been linked to kidnapping when all the villagers are testifying against them.
Again, why will Miyetti Allah spear head the opposition against operation Amatekun? Was Amatekun created to hunt down innocent Fulani in the south west. TOO MANY QUESTIONS TO ASK. Or is the fulanization agenda real?
Some years back, I was in my village, surprisingly I saw a Fulani man selling local medication in all these swan bottles, just like "agbo"... He was carrying just three bottles. What came to my mind at that moment was that "this guys is a sentry/scout"... Cos am very sure that nobody is buying or using such medication in my village, I could be wrong though. So what exactly is he doing in a low populated area selling what the people won't even buy.

The bottom line is, what is stopping our govt from handling this issue head on. How many more victims are they waiting for before they can act. If our security agencies are out of ideas, let there be some reshuffling. Or at worst, get machineries just as Jonathan did during the last few months of his administration.

The FG should act now before we will get to a stage where each community in this nation will be under constant attack from these bandits as their boldness and numbers is on the increase geometrically.

Prophet Nnamdi Kanu saw all these in 2014 and talked a lot about it but some people refused to smell the coffee.

This issue is more serious than we see it. Last week during journalist hangout on TVC News, Babajide said that "the axis of where Kaduna airport is located is also a dead zone. That staff of the airport don't dare to go in or out of the airport at a late hour. As a result, their flight time is mostly in the morning." Look at the recent attack on the Train station in Kaduna. Yet nothing serious from the security.

It's obvious there is something wrong somewhere. How difficult is it to track kidnappers who hid their victims in the bush. We have heard the stories of those who were kidnapped and later regained their freedom. The stories are the same, they get kidnapped along the highway and taken into the bush till their ransom was paid. So how difficult is it to track this guys. Any long range drone will do the trick. Even tracking down the phone records they use to contact the families of there victims isn't a rocket science.

I recently traveled through Kaduna Abuja highway, I saw soldiers stationed along the road with motorcycle, probably to use in chasing down the kidnappers. Yet these bandits still kidnap people along that same road, take their victims into the bus without any response from the soldiers...

Truth be told, all insecurity issues started gradually some blown into war.

It began with killing of Christians in Northwest until Northern bigmen now prefer Abuja to their villages.

Until a good community policing is in place we are still joking

My two solutions are to loosen the gun laws so citezens can protect themselves and decentralize police. The criminals fear armed people who will shoot back. The NW bandits requested the civilian militia be disarmed. Every tire of government should be allowed to establish their own police force and prisons.

The killings in Kaduna and plateau state have forced many to flee their communities for idp camps for years yet govt pretend to have the interests of the people at heart. until the peoples of Nigeria rise to the challenge by defending their lives and property they will all go down

Overrun northern Nigeria not Nigeria, if any bandit attack the southwest then even FG won't be able to stop Amotekun.

But come to think of it, since the annoucement of Amotekun attacks on the southwest highways have stop.

They are much enough to attack a village and burn it to the ground. They are much enough to attack villages in Zamfara, Katsina, Niger, Kaduna and our highways.

Brilliant insight. I've been thinking along these lines of recent.

Whether we admit or not, by all indications, something is VERY VERY WRONG with our current security architecture.

How can kidnappers kidnap, collect ransom - in the millions - and simply disappear without a trace? The apparent success rate of most kidnap cases is chillingly too high for comfort.

Furthermore where do these guys get thier seemingly endless supply of arms and ammunition??

I recall the chilling account of one journalist who was kidnapped I believe around Jos. According to him, the kidnappers were clearly acting with help of some outsiders, whom he believed to be security agents.

Then of course we have the infamous Wadume case which like you rightly noted seemed to have entered voicemail.. . . .

Something is wrong . . . sad

If they succeed in overruning the north... They might want to try the south... Just as we are seeing some pocket attacks in Kogi.

Something is definitely wrong.
the big question is why is Boko haram that appointed Buhari as their negotiator before he became president no longer regard his person since he became president.
i know a lot of people who voted Buhari in 2015 because they believe he will be able to pacify them and bring the insurgency to an end.so what changed?

As much as I want this administration to succeed the truth remains the present administration is not interested in rejigging the current security structure on the ground. The presidency has been defending those military head at the expense of the masses who are at the receiving end. A man once said you cannot repeat the same actions and expect a different result. the president as stuck with present military leadership and they have repeatedly times without numbers demonstrated they are incapable of up turning the insecurity in the land.

Something is serious wrong, yet some Nigerians just turned a blind eye to it, probably cos it haven't affect their area or someone they know. When you talk, they begin to call you wailing IPOD.

That someone is not sharing same opinion with you people shouldn't make them a threat..

Which politicians have I been supporting blindly? Abi no be on the same forum I have been lambasting those who are in power for not doing enough about the insecurity in the country..
