Have you listened to any of anti Angelique's music? The one babalawo was super and my favourite. the sound track was adopted globally at a time. Her music always conveys powerful messages, full of energy. Don't also forget she's been singing for years before gaining relevance and winning Grammy. Her music appeals to every category of people. Burna has been gaining recognition already. He should just work harder. He's a potential winner, chidima Ekile too but the lady has suddenly disappeared from music scene. Are you minding Nigerians? The majority of people supporting Burna Boy did so based on sentiments, something which the selecting board is mercifully free from.

I know a lot of people will strongly disagree but Burna still has a long way to go before he can win an award as prestigious as a Grammy. As I mentioned previously, Angelique is light years ahead of Burna Boy.

Anyway, getting a nomination in the first place is a big deal so he may well be on his way.

I suspect you are a musician or you have some music training. I’m glad you went soft on Burna towards the end, cos I was ready to fight.

Angelique is ahead of Burna. That is a fact. But many Nigerians are not particularly objective when it comes to awards. Perhaps they judged this in his favour because he won a BET award. How many people took the time to listen to the music of the other nominees? They dismissed them outright, shouting African Giant up and down, when a bigger Giant was on the list. Now they wonder who she really is.


Anyway, the Grammys brought them together with other great musicians in a category and therefore almost on an even keel.

We do not know how the judges voted, but for Burna to be considered a nominee along with Angelique and Bokanté (who featured a multiple Grammy award winning orchestra), I’d say he has done very well for himself, and is up there with those Nigerian musicians with Grammy nominations. Afrobeat seems to be the elixir working for our Grammy nominees these days.
