Really great idea. Not only Mobil Pegasus, we also need to bring back the Mobil Athletics Championship and it should be held here.

Agree.

AKWA ibom already have 3 standard grass turf.
The Godswill Akpabio stadium and the training pitch.
Ikot Ekpene stadium has grass turf.

So what we need in the new stadium are artificial pitches.
The uyo township stadium is handled by moni Michelle, the company that fixed enyimba, bayelsa, bauchi and onikan stadium pitch. So it will be good.

The Eket stadium will have a standard artificial turf.
This will balance off so if the players are going to be facing opponents that play in grass turf, they can practice in grass, if they are facing and opponents that plays on artificial turf they can also practice on artificial turf.

Presently Akwa ibom state has no artificial turf stadium, but by the end of the year they will have two.

If it's handled by Moni Michelle, then it's probably hybrid, rather than artificial (the turf at the Enyimba Stadium and Onikan Stadium are hyrbid).

That I don't know, if its hybrid or plain artificial.
But going by what they have done in other stadium, I know moni Michelle will do a good job at the Uyo township stadium.

Yes. They use Desso Grassmaster (hybrid), which I think is the best surface at the moment.

But they will only install what the state government paid them to install.

If they paid for hybrid then uyo township stadium will get hybrid turf, but if the state paid for standard artificial turf, that's what monimichelle will install.

Show me any state including Lagos that has 1700km of roads construction ongoing and some complete. That's what mr udom Emmanuel is doing.
Show me any state that has built transmission and distribution stations in their state.
Udom Emmanuel has built the ekim power station and several power step down stations across the state, and akwa ibom via its ibom power plant is the only state in the country that produces 191mw of electricity without any FG input.
FYI akwa ibom only needs about 50 to 80 mw of power. But for the FG exclusive list that takes Akwa ibom 191MW to national grid, Akwa ibom should be enjoying 24/7 power supply. The state has made enough investments to see it happen.

For whether the stadium is neccessary, is a matter of opinion. When Akpabio built the 30,000 uyo stadium many people shouted white elephants more than you are doing now but today they are the ones singing praises of the stadium.
That uyo stadium is the only fifa compliant stadium in Nigeria till today.
Time will vindicate the governor on the eket stadium. So you are entitled to your opinion, but that doesn't make your opinion a fact.

Please check the 1700km road stuff.
I doubt the whole of AKS has a road network of up to that. The township roads are OK except IBB way due to poor drainage, even the road from Uyo to Onna is not up to 200km.
Please check yr facts again.

A white elephant project is an expensive project with no value and such is the one I'm seeing here. We have a stadium in Uyo which is not even completed. Why is the governor not completing that one and other projects started by the last administration? Eket does not need a stadium of this magnitude but something like the one in Ikot Ekpene.

At the end of the day, how would this project impact people's lives especially the Eket people? How many indigenes of Eket can work there? To do exactly what and to who? I think the governor should channel his energy toward projects that directly benefits the people, e.g., road construction and intervening in the abysmally poor power supply in the state.

How many young people would even use the stadium when hunger is bitting hard? Again, I don't think there's water in Uyo. What's building another stadium? What's Ibom Air? Looks good; sounds good, but without any value to the common man.
do you know how many stadia they in London?

The construction of the 17,000 all seater all covered Eket stadium in Akwa ibom state which started a while ago by the Government of Mr udom emmanuel has reached roofing levels.
This month all the 17000 plastic seats for the stadium has arrived uyo the state capital where it is stored.
The artificial pitch has and the tartan tracks material has also arrived.

The ministry of sports akwa ibom state recieved 27 container of materials for installation in the new stadium January 2020.

Mr udom Emmanuel is not just building a stadium in Eket, eket is the second biggest city in Akwa ibom state after uyo, the state capital and ikot Ekpene the Northern district capitals.
Eket has a variety of roads that are being dualize, drainages, city park, modern yiwu Chinese market, the biggest Chinese market in Nigeria is currently under construction in Eket and many more, this project are aimed at repositioning the oil capital of Akwa ibom state to a new level that's befitting of other oil cities in the world.

The commissioner of sports in the state also intimated that the old 5000 capacity uyo township stadium is also simultaneously upgraded to a 10,000 seater sports stadium to complement the 30,000 seats Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo.

Akwa ibom state is the only state in the country with 2 teams in the Nigerian premier league.
AKWA UNITED AND DAKKADA FC.

The state also has several teams in the Nigerian National league which is Nigeria division 2:

Those teams include the ibom youth FC, vandrezzer FC, coffine fC etc and a host of female clubsides.

This stadium's will serve as befitting homes for some of this teams.

....

African leaders are very wicked they use all means to render the masses poor so they could buy them with #5 during elections.

What's the usefulness of this stadium if I may ask? The money used in this stadium if it's been put into Agriculture it'll create employment and reduce crime. But if the masses feed well no one will do the dirty job again during elections for peanuts. The stadium Akpabio built in Awka ibom how many lives is the stadium sustaining today?

These Leaders are vision less what we need now is industries and SMe loans.

Honestly, Igbo leaders are not being fair to their people. South East is the most underdeveloped region in this country. The whole south east cannot boast of a single standard stadium.
This is Eket, just a city in Akwa Ibom.

Na stadium Akwa Ibom people go chop. What happened to the one in Uyo. Seriously misplaced priorities.

You don't just carry out a project without impact assessment. Where is the market for football in Akwa Ibom. In England, football is big business, from gambling to TV rights, that's why you see stadia everywhere. It's a huge export commodity for them. Here in Nigeria, where is that kind of market to warrant building of stadia.

Concentrate on opening your seaports Mr. Udom. It will add value your people more.

Did they stop work in ibom science park?
Last I checked ibom science park is a private investment owned by the Chinese business group the blue sea group.
The Chinese are working at their pace.

Go watch the speech of the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria on the day the ibom science park project was inaugurated, he told the company to complete the project on schedule and to specifications. He said it was not an appeal but an order. If there is something the Chinese are good at its obeying order from their superiors. I am sure the ibom science park is in good hands.

Akwa ibom is the state that attracts the second highest foreign direct investment in Nigeria after Lagos that NBS statistics, its because we have a governor who is first a business man before being a politician. He understands the role of private sector in state development.

You seem to be a mouthpiece of the state government. Can you tell me the employment statistics of the state? How many people are unemployed and what is the average income of residents of the state? How many kids are in school compared to those out of school, what is the state of healthcare in the state? How many standard hospitals and how accessible is it to the average resident of the state? Do residents enjoy access to good quality water? How many homes have access to good qaulity water provided by the state compared to all homes in the state?

Bro, this your drivel is childish and unnecessary. Success is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. Let each region or state inspire the other to improve theirs. Lets all stop being pessimistic and divisive. We need to begin to seriously face the business of nation-building community by community and state by state.

Some Nigerians dont understand this. Sports is business thats why our athletes are fleeing Abroad, because Nigeria has refused to invest in sports.

Thank God Akwa ibom state government is trying it's best to set up befitting sports infrastructures to encourage sports development.

Much as you sounded really intelligent when you replied one Samuel, I believe he's right.

If you are from Akwa Ibom State, your government should be focusing more on how to empower your people. It's critical!

There are lots of Akwa Ibom people doing menial jobs in Lagos and Port Harcourt, mostly house helps.

Your state is stinking rich...thanks to the petrodollars. Your governor ought to ask many of them to come back home and empower them with either capitals for business or vocational skills.

Better still, build industries and privatize them just like the AKS airport and Ibom Air. This will be a bold step to create jobs and stimulate the state economy.

The Godswill Akpabio Stadium is an awesome world-class sporting facility and that stadium is enough. This new massive project, in my view, is completely unnecessary. Even if Eket needs a sporting facility, a smaller one would have been perfect.

Maintenance culture is a big challenge in this country. It will cost a lot of money to maintain these 2 stadia. Besides, oil will not be useful forever. So, human capital development and capacity building will definitely prepare AKS for a future beyond crude oil.

This is not an attack; it's my personal opinion
