I wonder how you will take a rider going to a 5star hotel or restaurant. You also give that rider a 5star ride, on your A.C., open the door for them play music for them make sure your car smells good at a very cheap price. Why is the 5star hotel or restaurant not cheap and your 5star services is cheap. Uber and bolt are busy fighting on who provides the cheapest fare at the detriment of the diver and car owner. They say when two elephants fight it's the grass that suffers. We have chicken republic, testy fraid chicken, KFC, tantalizer etc are they not doing competition too? Why is there food not cheap due to competition. We have thousands hotels all over why is there service not cheap? Because they are the owners of the business and they spend alot of money to run the business. But uber/Taxify are not the owners of your car so they don't care how you feel.

The problem here is demand and supply, bolt and uber r not stupid, its all in the ratio of request to availability of cars.

Impossible is nothing but then this may not be the reflection of your actual rating.
While on a trip try to check your rating on your riders app I am sure you will see something different

The higher d fare, the more available the drivers.
The lower d fare , the more available d riders
What's d essence of more riders when they can't get a driver
When u request from a cheaper app and u couldn't get a driver, u will definitely be forced to request d expensive one
And as Nigerians, we normally get used to everything with time.
So Uber and bolt should reason with d drivers and come up with something meaningful

Please I want to give my corolla 06 to my friend for uber/bolt, while he search for job. what is the average weekly expectation from him with expected working hours from 5am to 7pm, he is new in Abuja, but he is a good driver and hardworking

Has he done e hailing before in Abj?

The very first month, he is going to use n get a hang of the workings of the city.

If he works hard, maybe 6- 8 k net daily . Mon to Friday.

Are you the patient type?

Cos uber/ taxify racket in Abj will not begin to pour out cash the way people view it.

Telling u dis so DT I don't burst ur bubble.

Ups n downs in earnings.

Tell your friend to go to the Uber Abuja thread n read up, I put some troubled areas where he shdnt pick or drop.

Cos wen requests r not forthcoming, he MIT b tempted to start picking n dropping on d street.

Na how jjc drivers dey enter agbero hand.

Don't. Pick strangers at nite. No Mata how juicy d offer is.

So tell him to read up n get street savvy.

People think say na uber make corolla dey expensive. Even before the reign of ehailing, corolla has already been expensive. Uber only made corolla popular, but added nothing to its price.

You probably don't live in Africa to have assumed e-hailing didn't add to the cost of corolla, so are you saying there no increase in demand for corolla btw 2014 and now?

Its better for rider to b available, then for drivers to b sleeping for 2/3hrs without ride. I know some sch of tot will disagree with me, but it is what it is a d remember availability of riders somewhat means surge.

It added nothing
My brother bought a corolla in 2008 far before this ehailing thing became popular. When I did the conversion in dollar rate, it was same price. Even cheaper now. His initial plan was to buy big daddy, it took him extra 3 months to buy corolla because of his mechanic recommendation. There was nothing like uber then in Benin.

Uber only made corolla popular & did not add to the price. If u have anyone that bought a corolla before 2010, ask them how much they bought it, do the conversion in dollar as relate to naira to dollar then & now. Corolla has always been expensive, only people that bought corolla before 2009 knows this. But just that many people started knowing about corolla after the popularity of uber & thinks uber is responsible for price of corolla. I just laff....

Some drivers are the ones spoiling this game for others.. please what you don't know, kindly ask others. There are only 3 points in Lagos state that I know of that e-hailing app reads/ records tolls which is the admirai circle plaza, lekki ikoyi link bridge and of course the international airport toll.

Took a rider from surulere to Naco (the export zo e).. before we got there I told the man the gate fee is 400 and on him except he drops outside, he said nothing. We entered and I paid #400. Ended trip at 1600+ my 400 =2k. The man said laye he is not paying the #400. that no driver has ever asked him for a refund at Naco. Before ending the trip I even showed him trips details having the toll at 00 naira.. man said he isn't paying... Ok we should split it 200# each...... I changed the tune sharperly.. oga will you give me my my money and get the Bleep outta ma car... He gave me the money and left and of course 1* rating sure at both ends but who cares.

Your brother bought a corolla as at 2008. So let's look at some facts from your comment

1) The Toyota corolla popular on uber ranges from 2003 to 2007. So if your brother bought one in 2008, his car would have been 6 years old(give or take)

This is 2019/2020. And you're telling me a car released about 17 years ago is supposed to remain the same way?

Toyota has various models. Why is it Corolla and Matrix that is still expensive?(Uber recommended). It's just recently that Camry joined. Why isn't the 2005 model of Avensis expensive like the corolla?

We can argue this all day, but I wouldn't want us to do that. It's no rocket science that demand and supply affects pricing

Dont expect uber to pay you for any toll not recognised by their app and dont even border reporting to them self

Its very clear guys, ehailing made corolla a popular demand and therefore increase in price especially in Nigeria but over the sea the price is a little bit minimal.

Presently, its very difficult to even get a corolla to buy in the US right now because Nigerians have bought almost all these corolla manufactured. Present price of a corolla now is nothing short of 2m. You can check around to confirm.

Sooner or later there'll be a hike in the price of Honda civic as corolla is becoming scare and its a better alternative to the popular.

Look for anyone that bought a corolla before 2009, do the conversion in currency as regards increase in dollar now to price of dollar then, u will find your answer there. Many of u started hearing of corolla after uber popularity and thinks uber is responsible for its price. Uber added nothing to the price of that car, but only made it popular.

That is what many don't know
Many of them arguing about price of corolla didn't even know anything about corolla before the reign of ehailing, so they think uber is responsible for its price. Anyone that bought a corolla before uber became popular, knows the price of corolla then & now is same. The only thing confusing them is difference in dollars. Dollar to naira then was 141 or so, but now it 362 or sth like that.

You are arguing blindly sir.
The car your brother bought was obviously 6 years old. Yesssss, it will still be expensive.

How then do you think that after 17 years, the price will remain the same way? Why you dey talk like this

You brother bought it when it was still in vogue(somehow). Don't use that as a theory to explain why it's still expensive.

And what was the exchange rate then?

You need to put this into perspective as well as the age of Corolla then, like Izzou mentioned

All you needed to do was think, but you just want to argue. I don't have that strength, not today, and not anytime this year

Why is it 04 cars in 2009 are lesser in price in 2020? From Mercedes to Nissan, Honda to Mazda, Audi, and even other Toyota models? They prices keep depreciating, but only Corolla, Matrix and Camry still remain the same?

Just sit down and think

Intact, you're right. The corolla price has always been the same since 2003. By 2025, it will still remain the same sir.
