Good evening house, please I need you guys advice on something, would you advise someone to collect loan from the bank(Gtbank) with 1.33% interest money and put in uber business? A friend of mine is thinking of collecting loan of 2 million to buy 2 cars, a big daddy(1ml) and a Honda (#800,000, the owner is desperately in need of money). He has seen the cars already but just that he is a little bit sceptical about it if he can be able to repay the loan and interest within a year interval. He will drive one and give out one. What is your advice guys and has anyone here collected loan from the bank especially GTBank, what was the person's experience and are there hidden charges that the bank doesn't let the customers know?

Sorry I may sound awkard but ita d best for advice from experience of life.

Who be dis friend, guy simply tell us its you nobody go kill u. If it's not you how then u have almost every details.

Also, you seems to be economical with some vital info how then do you expect one to give profile advice Who is the desperate owner you referred to that wants his money??

Bros/guy/oga, you're collecting a bank loan to buy a 9ja used car?? Thats a stupid decision oh... Instead take 1.5m get a Honda civic dir too highest 1.3-1.4m. B4 you'd spent 100k the car don sharp well... You wont have any reason to worry about major repairs in 1yr. And if I r hard working like a warri boy like me u should be able to clr off both interest n loan principal.

Dont go for Toyota it will break ur pocket remember ita a loan. Go fo r a cheap car but make sure it's a tok.

Dont be too desperate about making money thereby buying a 9ja used car you dont know reasons y d owner is selling. 200k wont be enough to fix up two cars. I spent about 250k on my EOD on just AC alone...

You never drive balance and get experience you want to employ somebody? Guy you get longthroat o... Forget all these sweat talks drivers are here sharing oooh...pray never to meet a bad driver you'll regret your life. Buy one motor and drive it yourself and after paying the loan then you can thinking of expanding.

Lastly, getba lawyer to study the papers on d loan b4 you proceed.

Getting a loan is far better than HP.

Its better for rider to b available, then for drivers to b sleeping for 2/3hrs without ride. I know some sch of tot will disagree with me, but it is what it is a d remember availability of riders somewhat means surge.
Well.. I prefer doing just 3 trips in a day and make around 10k to doing 10 trips to make roughly the same amount.
My point. Plenty riders + low fare doesn't significantly increase your PROFIT, it only increases your stress level and car maintenance costs. My opinion

The person involved is my fiance hence my having every details of the cars and loan. I am not withholding any info because their is nothing to hide about. For the cars, one is Nigerian used( Honda) while one is a US used -Tukombo ( big daddy) though the seller is still insisting on 1.3ml but my fiance said since the guy is his friend if he gives him 1ml he will take. He wants to use the Honda for his personal business( He is into real estate) and Uber/taxify

So, I think I should post this for all to learn from it. After doing offline to Ibadan last week and elders in the house agreed the fare was OK, I decided to chat up another rider over the weekend and let her know that I do offline even out of the state. From our discussion, she said I had picked her up before and she like my driving . Unknowingly to me, her husband was looking for someone to take him to IFo in Ogun State today. I quickly jumped into it. Was told I would take him and his colleagues there wait for them prolly for the whole day and bring them back.

Long story short, I charged 40k,used 3k to buy fuel again, on Coro 009. Picked him around 7 am from Osapa London and dropped him back at VI. Luckily for me they didn't even wait for up to 2hrs in IFo.

We re back in Lagos already. Local man is happy. grin

Not bad if we see a potential rider and let them know that we do offline. But be cautious sha o. Shine ya eye!

No dont

No don't. Give out a car on loan to another person.

From the price of the cars, they are not tokunbo.

Where do people get this idea that you will make money from giving out ( Naija USED cars on rental.

Cos when the stress and rigours ( park, stop, move, reverse, intermittently)of ehailing gets to a TYPICAL NAIJA USED car, the HIDDEN issues in the car will PRECIPITATE.

I hope your friend is ready to work, I mean drive.
There is no free meal in this racket. The day you don't DRIVE/ WORK. YOU WONT SEE SHISHi.
.

Even if you buy a car @ 1m, YOU can never recoup/ SAVE 1M in a year on UBER. I MEAN STRICTLY UBER N BOLT. ( NOT OFFLINE)

Even if RENTALS @ 25k, there is no driver that can deliver 50 straight weeks. Without default ( unforeseen circumstances, health, vehicle breakdown, etc)

I hope your friend is ready to work, I mean drive, cos this racket is a FULL days work. You need @ least 10-12 hours to make something substantial.

You will not be driving for that 12 hours o, but practically , you will b paying attentuon
to the app n d phone.

Real advice:
Why take a loan to invest in a biz you have no experience in?

Generally loans r useful if you want to expand biz , ur capacity, buy inputs / raw materials etc. That means there is an established pattern on ground.

Personally, I can't take a loan n invest on uber.

Wait , the seniors will shed more light.

Just got my instand e-card for the toll gate. Just within 2min.

Got back to where I parked and a request came in on uber...

GBAM GBAM GBAM....
Accepted!

Rider: do you have a card for the lekki ikoy I link bridge?
Me: yes I do
Rider: Excellent! Dr, xXxX 2-4, xXxX, off Alenxandra...

Got to pickup... After waiting for like 3 mins a white elderly woman stepped out and into the car ... The rest... Everywhere good.

For thise who dont have an etag just go for a card its simple and direct and all within 1min you're done. The card is 5k you recharge it when its exhausted.

Bro.

I hope you know the one you bought will be charging you for suv instead of saloon?

Check your balance next time, you'll see that they charge you #360.

My third eyes tells me, you are taking the loan for your fiancé.

As a financial person, I would advice against taking a loan for a start-up business especially e-hailing where you have no control over the variables.
But if you insist, buy just one vehicle.

The big daddy his friend wants to sell to him for 1.3m is it 03 model and accidental free? If so d price is a good deal, lucky him if the friend would sell to him 1m bros of friendship.
03 is within d price range 1.3-1.350m strong but very sluggish.
04/05= 1.5-1.550m very good car.
06=1.7m above.

If your fiance insist on going for the loan and his friend agrees to sell @1m to him let him collect a loan not more than 1.2m, the car can serve for both purposes which is his business/job and uber when ever he's free from work. Dont collect loan to buy a car and give to sb to drive its a very wrong business decision to take my sister. Bank go smile with you when they're giving d loan but when them won collect their money? There are various cars good for this business; ranging from popular options like Hyundai, Toyota Corolla, camry (Big daddy), honda civic, someone even uses benz c230.

But the popular sentiment is that corolla is the best for this business interms of fuel economy, cost of maintenance and strength but there is another school of thought driven by dru23 that honda civic is a better option than corolla with the claim that it is more fuel efficient than corolla, less cost of maintenance, better interior and even comes cheaper than corolla.
With civic, it is quicker to recoup your investment than corolla because it is less expensive.

So in essence, you may narrow your optons to corolla, civic and seek more advices on these brands as regards to ehailing

Less I forget, Uber accepts 2000 upward while bolt accepts from 2003 upward. You may consider nothing less than 2003 brand so that your car is accepted across all platforms.

For your car registration on uber, you need

1. Valid insurance docs
2. Lagos state road worthiness.
3. Vehicle inspection report from the center accredited by any of these ehailing platforms.

In terms of investment, you can either take the rental or hire purchase options.

I think I've tried a bit.

BTW, I need a car for rental.

Good luck.

Hello oga peeps, can I register as a driver on Uber n co w/o having a car but I have my temporary driver's license(expecting the permanent one)
