I have just be given a graduate admission by the University of San Francisco with $2,000 scholarship for fall semester and $1,500 for spring out of total tution of $21,000 for year 1. Was actually hoping for a bigger scholarship amount, though contemplating to push forward with my visa application. My dad and employer are my potential sponsors to cover the huge tuition balance. Wondering if this could fly. And don't if there is need to make aditional tuition payment/deposit before coming up for visa interview. I still await outcome of an application to another school tho. |

What determines funding?... your general profile or just GRE/GPA score ? 1 Like 1 Share |

Okunns: The scholarship is very small. I will advice you to wait for the other school and maybe push for a better offer in this particular school. Also, do not make any tuition deposit before getting to the US. 2 Likes |
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by Okunns: 11:38pm On Jan 27, 2020 |
solihp: Really? It is stated clearly that the first $500 tuition deposit to be made on or before 11 of next month is not refundable. However was thinking the rest could be refunded if requested for it timely, particularly God forbid, in a case of failed visa application. Thank you for this all the same, don't have even $500 to throw away to one school outside sevis, visa fee etc. I will wait for the other school response, tho the deadline to accept the current admission given to me will elapse before I receive admission and GA decision feedback from this second institution. |

Okunns: Your condition is very similar, if not exactly same with what Temple University gave me. To pay a nonrefundable part tuition of $500 to secure my admission slot before end of this month. After GC told me they don't give full funding, I just let it slide. I believe schools that request for deposit don't usually give full funding. Except you are not after full tuition like myself. Pls run from the school |

Okunns: It's not worth the financial stress of making deposits because it doesn't even guarantee visa approval. If you applied to other schools and you're certain of getting reasonable funding from them, waiting is a better option. Something I've observed here is that programs with high undergraduate enrollment usually have more funds for TA positions. That's a good insight for applicants. 1 Like 1 Share |
