NSE ALLSHARE INDEX UPDATE FOR CLOSE OF BUSINESS 29 JAN 2020

Loss for the week: -1.71%
Gain for the year: 8.45%

Market still in uptrend till support level of 28,807.30 is breached. As we may want to take advantage of lower prices we should avoid unsound stocks and only buy at strong support levels.

Equally to avoid the bear from scoring an injury time goal (loss that you may not recover from until the next 365 days) avoid stock that may experience substantial income decline. From our side the likes of Eterna, Guinness, Ikeja Hotel, Interbrew (regular customer), Transcorp etc comes to mind.

Just like a visitor to the casino, we have placed our bet, the roulette wheel/ball is rolling, unlikely to be a good time to place substantial bet on the table.

Stanbic.

http://www.nse.com.ng/Financial_NewsDocs/28700_STANBIC_IBTC__HOLDINGS_PLC_FINANCIAL_STATEMENTS_JANUARY_2020.pdf

We may be getting all these results by end of this month and then wait for audit and CBN's approval (as the case may be).

This might be the new plot twist to the whole drama.

Like i posted earlier, the new requirement is

un-audited results with 60days then audited result with 90days

something along these lines anyway

OR

audited results within 90days

Stanbic bank recorded
1. #5.13 kobo EPs in their q3 2019, against #5.73 EPs in their q3 2018
2. #6.92 kobo EPs in their final, 2019, against #7.04 EPS in their final 2018

They experience 12 kobo drop in their earning, below performance.

Most at times you will know the company that will perform better than their previous year result through comparing their recent q3 result with that of last year.

The EPS would have slightly increased. The company introduced DRIP Dividend Reinvestment Program about 2 years ago.

Which gave interested shareholders to earn their dividends in form of additional shares in the company. The core Investor and some retail Investors subscribed to the DRIP , this makes the outstanding shares of the company to increase every year. The DRIP increased the outstanding shares of Stanbic IBTC by 265 million shares between 2018 and 2019.

Nigeria Brewery also has a DRIP

You can decide to get you dividend or if you believe in the future of the company you can tell the company to give you additional share instead of cash dividend.

That is why the percentage holdings of the core Investors of Stanbic IBTC and Nigeria Brewery increases every years

The additional 265 million shares issued via DRIP saved Stanbic IBTC almost N11 billion cash in dividend payments.
