emoch: After failing 2000 feet at the mercy of what exactly? That’s not improvement. Even if there was not mountain or it was water they will still perish. Technology has not improved beyond fancy stuffs and looks. Safety has remained unchanged and same. 2 Likes |

jaxxy: You got it right. You're going too far. Now think of it this way if a passenger wants to board a boat the passenger uses a life jacket. The same scenario should play out during air travels where a parachute is fastened to the back of the seats and in the case of an emergency would start tothe passenger and parts of the craft body dissembled and the passenger carefully set free from the craft. This can be achieved in else than 2 minutes to increase passenger safety in choppers 1 Like |

jaxxy: You are looking at it the wrong way. Something can technically be safe, but what of the user? This accident is referred to in aviation as CFIT ( Controlled Flight into Terrain) where a perfectly airworthy aircraft is flown into terrain. The aircraft itself is technologically safe, but is the pilot? |

what a way to go...just like facing a firing squad one moment u are alive and next a whirlwind of a rush 2000 feet in a minute! even the shock and speed alone would have killed any one already...very painful knowing u are going to crash and die horribly but incapable of doing anything...that 12 minutes he was cycling waiting for clearance was the time to have called emergency...damn i hope they all had the time to confess their sins and accept Jesus |

Why is anything that has to do with airplane crashing always do haqen at sunday morning inside the 9am mark, same thing also occured last year of about a certain kenyan what booing MAX TSJ 1700 aeroplane crash killing every abi 170 members on board last year .that was also on A sunday morning when i was still ON sunday catholic 6:30am first mass. Note: BOOING MAX TSJ 1700 was me formulating anything just to suit my writing taste. i stand to be corrected d supposedly the name of the aircraft. 1 Like |

emoch: INCORRECT! Unless Ure saying the pilot intentionally ran the craft down the mountain? The craft lost control and went into a spin descending fast. Now what does technology have to offer for a chopper 2000 feet above the ground with enough time or distance to save lives? Nada!!!!!!!@ |
Re: Kobe Bryant's Death: Helicopter Dropped More Than 2,000 Feet A Minute, NTSB Says by emoch(m): 4:35pm On Jan 29, 2020 |
jaxxy: There are a lot of technology. Please do a google search on TAWS(Terrain Avoidance Warning System), GPWS ( Ground Proximity Warning System), TCAS ( Traffic Collision Avoidance System). These are technologically advanced systems on aircrafts to prevent situations like this. How the pilots uses them is up to the individual person. Have you read the prelim report on the crash. 1.The Pilot was operating in foggy weather (meaning he does not have visuals) 2. The Pilot was operating on Special VFR (tricky scenerio) I read he requested to climb to a higher altitude but missed a mountain by about 20ft (unconfirmed report). So this whole thing points to Pilot Error, not the aircraft. 3 Likes 1 Share |

jaxxy: Okay, and where does it land after disengaging? if the blade disengages, it would spiral fast to the ground, killing innocent passersby. This becomes a case of robbing Peter to pay Paul, saving the people on board the flight and at the same time subjecting innocent passersby on land to danger. We should look at how to parachute the entire chopper (with the people inside). 3 Likes |

It seems the pilot may have deliberately plunged the chopper....was he depressed or terminally ill ? |
Re: Kobe Bryant's Death: Helicopter Dropped More Than 2,000 Feet A Minute, NTSB Says by jaxxy(m): 5:06pm On Jan 29, 2020 |
LordeCalifornia: If there were people on the ground, the craft will still fall and kill people or wudnt it? The blade will still hit the ground either ways. Bt ur observation it’s worth considering as zero fatality is the goal. I’ve suggested other ways this can be achieved in my other responses on the thread. Thx |

jaxxy: I am wondering why this can’t be so. Reading that report, this crash amongst many is another implication of corruption (or capitalism, its American equivalent). Recommendations were made for that particular craft following a similar crash in 2004, yet that was dumped. Tech is so advanced that Helicopter mishaps shouldn’t always lead to death. Find a way to have people ejected once at a certain altitude when there is a problem. But no, multinationals make tonne from the current system. They already sent their minion to spin the narrative (the aviation expert guy talking the Helicopter is one of the safest bla bla bla...). RIP to the dead. 1 Like |

Re: Kobe Bryant's Death: Helicopter Dropped More Than 2,000 Feet A Minute, NTSB Says by LordeCalifornia: 5:16pm On Jan 29, 2020 |
jaxxy: If the blade disengages, it goes a different way, killing a different set of people, while the chopper would still eventually crash, killing another set of people. Leaving only the people on board as the survivors. But if the blades stay put to the chopper, a lesser fatality would be meted out on innocent passersby. Parachuting the entire chopper would suffice, the parachute could be positioned in a way that the rotating blades would not affect the suspending ropes. 11 Likes 4 Shares

The cause of accident is simple, it was the weather. Everybody turns into an analyst when things like this happens even the ones that have never fly an ordinary commercial plane or play Xplane. |
Re: Kobe Bryant's Death: Helicopter Dropped More Than 2,000 Feet A Minute, NTSB Says by healthserve(m): 5:25pm On Jan 29, 2020 |
LordeCalifornia: That's not how it works. The parachute will be caught in the blade. Ecah seat becomes an automatic parachute triggered by sensors. Immediately side doorsflal apart. The seats projects the passengers 20feet up before the parachute spreads it's wings and they can navigate to safety |

LordeCalifornia: This cud work.. Ur input is quite nice and probably one of the best approaches to a solution. That’s why I started the conversation to get the best ideas. I hope those in the industry will start to think more of real and practical safety than fancy bt unsafe choppers. Thx |

shogsman: A heavy duty parachute would suffice. It may sound crazy, but with science, almost anything can be achieved. plus, the essence of the parachute is not to suspend the chopper in the air, it is rather to reduce the degree of impact on the ground. It's only a suggestion though, Those in aviation line could look into it. After all, hot air ballons could be used to lift really heavy weights. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Re: Kobe Bryant's Death: Helicopter Dropped More Than 2,000 Feet A Minute, NTSB Says by healthserve(m): 5:35pm On Jan 29, 2020 |
LordeCalifornia: Sensors would be in place so the entire craft dismembers itself once there's an engine failure first the blade then the side doors and then the spring beneath the seat bullet shotos them 20 to 30 feet into the sky and then the wprachute spreads This ideas were used in American movies in the early 90s . I'm shocked this engineering system hasn't been employed in modern craft. Althought Kobe craft is old sha I can practically make a prototype of this helicopter design for the right price Engineering machine design isn't a strange field with me. If you have sources we can make design and implementation innthreee months and produce within 18 months |
